Baseball Falls in Series Finale at LaGrange

LaGrange, GA - The N.C. Wesleyan baseball team wrapped up its weekend series at LaGrange on Sunday afternoon, falling 11-3 in the series finale at Cleaveland Field. The Panthers capitalized on early scoring opportunities and strong pitching to secure the win, dropping the Bishops to 2-9 on the season.

LaGrange opened the scoring in the second inning with a sacrifice fly and added three more runs in the third to take a 4-0 lead. The Panthers tacked on four more runs in the fourth, highlighted by a two-run double from Frankie Hislop, to break the game open at 8-0.

The Bishops found some offense in the seventh inning, plating three unearned runs. Travis Gamache led off the frame by reaching on an error, and Seth Jones delivered an RBI single to put Wesleyan on the board. Jacob Trivette followed with a two-run double down the right field line, cutting the deficit to 11-3.

Trivette finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs, while Jones went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Maison Nance also contributed two hits for the Bishops.

On the mound, Drake Hobgood took the loss after allowing seven runs over three innings of work. Colby LewisCaleb Dennis, and Gavin Weinstock combined for the final five innings, with Weinstock working a clean 1.1 frames with two strikeouts.

LaGrange starter Kyle Morey earned the win, tossing seven innings while allowing six hits and no earned runs.
