Misenheimer, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan baseball team dropped its USA South opener on Friday night, falling 8-1 to Pfeiffer at Joe Ferebee Field.

The Bishops collected nine hits in the contest but were unable to capitalize on key opportunities, while the Falcons used a pair of multi-run innings to secure the win.
Pfeiffer took an early lead in the bottom of the first, plating two runs on a single up the middle by Hunter Huneycutt. Wesleyan responded in the fourth when Maison Nance delivered an RBI single to score Javier Quintana, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
However, Pfeiffer extended its lead in the fifth, scoring three unearned runs. The Falcons tacked on three more in the eighth to put the game out of reach.
Offensively, Nance led the Bishops with two hits and an RBI, while Quintana and Conner Ferebee each added doubles. On the mound, Preston Workman took the loss, allowing five runs (two earned) over 4.2 innings with three strikeouts. Colby Lewis pitched the final 3.1 innings, striking out nine.
Pfeiffer's Josh Little went the distance, striking out six and allowing just one run over nine innings. Wilson Lohrer paced the Falcons' offense with four hits and two RBIs.
