VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Junior William Wian (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) tossed six scoreless innings to lead the No. 30 Randolph-Macon baseball team past Virginia Wesleyan 5-2 in ODAC action on Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened:
- The Yellow Jackets started the scoring in the top of the third. Senior Aidan Pinto (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) delivered a one-out single, went to second on a failed pickoff attempt, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a groundout by senior Aaron Lautenschlager (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley) to give the visitors a 1-0 edge.
- RMC added to its lead in the fourth. Freshman Mason Bodnar (Arlington, Va./St. John's Prep) drew a one-out walk, stole second, went to third on a base hit by freshman CJ Chatterton (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) and scored on a failed pickoff at first to make it 2-0. Chatterton went to second and came home on a single by sophomore Jack Bowles (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) to up the advantage to 3-0.
- Wian pitched the first six innings for the Yellow Jackets with four hits, no runs, no walks and one strikeout to earn the win and raise his record to 2-1.
- The Marlins tallied a run in the seventh before RMC responded quickly in the top of the eighth. Sophomore James Baffone (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) worked a leadoff walk and was sacrificed to second by junior Logan Duff (Forest, Va./Liberty Christian). Senior pinch-hitter Cole Mallory (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) doubled to knock in Baffone and make it 4-1. Chatterton singled up the middle to plate Mallory and extend the lead to 5-1.
- VWU added a run in the ninth as the game finished 5-2.
- Junior Connor McAuley (Haymarket, Va./Highland) fanned two in the seventh.
- Senior Sam Slevin (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank Cox) pitched the final two frames with two strikeouts.
