Kalamazoo Walks Off Florida Finale

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Kalamazoo College baseball team defeated Augustana University 6-5 with a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth on Tuesday.

Trailing 5-4 heading into the bottom of the ninth, Kalamazoo loaded the bases before hitting into a double play. With two outs and runners on second and third, Ryar Rinehart singled up the middle to drive home two runs for the win.

Kalamazoo scored two runs in the bottom of the first and led 4-3 after five innings. Augustana scored two in the top of the seventh and held the 5-4 lead until the bottom of the ninth Hornet heroics.

Kalamazoo finished with 13 hits in the game compared to nine by Augustana.

Ryar Rinehart finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Cooper Mills also had three hits.

Logan LockhartCaleb Moore and Tanner Hawkins each had two hits. All three had a double.

The Hornets are now 12-4 after the conclusion of their spring trip. Kalamazoo is scheduled to begin MIAA play with a single game at Albion on Friday, March 28.
