Brevard, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan baseball team fell in heartbreaking fashion on Friday afternoon, as Brevard staged a late rally to edge the Bishops 9-8 in ten innings at Gil Coan Field.

Wesleyan led for the majority of the game, building an 8-3 advantage heading into the bottom of the ninth. However, Brevard stormed back with five runs in the final frame before walking it off in extras.
The Bishops jumped out to an early lead in the second inning when Javier Quintana delivered a two-run single. NCWU extended the advantage in the third on a sacrifice fly by Caleb Elias and continued to add on with runs in the fifth and sixth innings, highlighted by an RBI single from Elias and a run-scoring hit from Jackson Hobbs.
Starter Marc DeNunzio was stellar on the mound, allowing just one run over six innings while striking out four. The Tornados managed to break through against the Bishop bullpen in the later innings, capitalizing on a five-hit, five-run rally in the ninth to force extras. In the 10th, Brevard's Kelson sealed the comeback with an RBI single down the left-field line.
Elias and Marlon Bowen paced the Bishops' offense with two RBIs each, while Colin Scoggins recorded a three-hit game. Reliever Drake Hobgood took the loss, while Brevard's Evans earned the win.
