Baseball Drops Series Finale Doubleheader at William Peace

Cary, NC - After opening the series with a win on Friday, the N.C. Wesleyan baseball team dropped both games of Saturday's doubleheader to William Peace, falling 6-4 and 8-5 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.

In the first game of the day, the Bishops outhit the Pacers 9-6 but were unable to overcome defensive miscues and costly passed balls that led to two William Peace runs in the sixth inning. Maison Nance provided a spark at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, while Seth Jones added a double and a run-scoring groundout. Caleb Elias also recorded a multi-hit game with a pair of singles and a run scored.

Drake Hobgood took the loss on the mound, allowing three runs over five innings before handing the ball to the bullpen. William Peace's Hall picked up the win in relief, while Hummel earned the save.

In the series finale, the Bishops jumped ahead early with a four-run second inning, capitalizing on two errors and RBI hits from Nance and Jones. Nance finished 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Colin Scoggins added a 3-for-5 performance at the plate, and Jones chipped in another two-hit effort.

However, the Pacers responded with a five-run third inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Herzberg and a two-run shot off the bat of  Levesque. Colby Lewis was tagged with the loss after allowing seven earned runs in 2.2 innings of work. Despite a strong relief outing from Nathanael Volk and a scoreless ninth from Caleb Dennis, the Bishops were unable to chip away at the deficit.
