It was a good Friday for La Grange, DePauw

A bases loaded single gave the DePauw Tigers a walkoff win in the first of a two game set on Friday.

DePauw swept Denison in a key NCAC race on Friday, 4-3 and 13-6. Denison tied the opening game with a single run in the ninth but Jack Thompson's single sent the Tigers to a 4-3 win. The Tigers used the long ball to finish the sweep with a 13-6 win in game two. The Tigers slugged five home runs, two by Thompson as they vaulted over Denison to first place in the NCAC-West race.

Cain Sauls' walk off bunt single gave LaGrange a 2-1 win over N.C. Wesleyan on Day three of the USA South Tournament at Cleaveland Field in Williamson Stadium. Sauls' hit puts the Panthers into Saturday's championship game. LaGrange's Richie Post and N.C. Wesleyan's Nate Garnder locked up in a pitcher's duel. Post gave up a run in seven innings of work. He struck out eight and did not walk a batter. Gardner pitched into the ninth, giving up the two runs and struck out five. Austin Perez picked up the win in relief of Post, pitching the final two innings.

Thomas More used two shutouts to sweep No. 17-ranked Washington & Jefferson 4-0 and 3-0.  The Saint wins halts the President's 12 game PAC win streak. Senior pitcher Logan Miller earned the win on the mound as he pitched six and a third shutout innings and gave up seven hits, while striking out six.  Senior pitcher Ken Ruberg earned the save as he pitched two-thirds of an inning and struck out one. In the nightcap, junior pitcher Jayson Essell had the win as he pitched six shutout innings and gave up seven hits, while striking out four.  Ruberg came on in the seventh and shutdown the Presidents for the save.

The 2017 USA South Tournament concluded its third day of action and is set for the championship in LaGrange, Georgia as a part of the USA South Spring Sports Festival. After today's three games, only top-seeded LaGrange and eighth-seeded Piedmont remain and will meet to decide the title. LaGrange has yet to drop a game therefore Piedmont will have to defeat the Panthers twice to earn the crown. Piedmont made the final weekend with a 10-3 win over Greensboro and a 15-2 win over N.C. Wesleyan.

Redlands traveled to Eagle Rock for an afternoon match against the Occidental Tigers. Behind incredible pitching, the Bulldogs came out on top by a final score of 5-1 in an important SCIAC game. Felix Minjarez allowed four hits and walked three in eight innings. He had 10 strikeouts as he improved to 10-1 on the season.

Trailing 5-4 entering the bottom of the ninth inning, back-to-back solo home runs by Tyler Holland andf Chris Common lifted Pitt-Greensburg to a dramatic walk-off 6-5 victory over Penn State Behrend at Bobcat Park. Pitt-Greensburg took the opening game of the day 4-3, behind a great pitching performance from Billy Elliott, who went 5.2 inning, giving up just six hits and striking out five. Dylan Pounds was called on for the four out save and the senior did not allow a hit in an inning and a third and struck out two, to earn his fourth save of the year. Pounds now owns the Pitt-Greensburg record for most career saves (9) as well as the most saves in a single season (4). This was the first sweep of Behrend by Pitt-Greensburg since the 2004 season.

Rose-Hulman won a pair of one-run thrillers at Art Nehf Field to take a 1.5 game lead in the HCAC standings. Rose-Hulman jumped out to an early lead in the opener before holding on to win 11-10.  In game two, Bluffton rallied with three runs in the ninth inning that were answered by three Rose-Hulman runs in the bottom half in a 7-6 Fightin' Engineer victory. The second game also marked the 700th win at Rose-Hulman for head coach Jeff Jenkins.  His career record stands at 745-495-2, with his Fightin' Engineer record at 700-430-1.  Rose-Hulman had only won 440 games in over 80 years of baseball prior to the arrival of coach Jenkins on campus.

Nichols defeated No. 21 St. Joseph's (Maine) 11-6 in non-conference action at the Nichols Baseball Field.  Trailing 2-0 in the first, the Bison batted around in their half of the inning to the tune of six runs and a lead they never relinquished. The six runs in the first matched the most runs that Nichols has scored in an inning this season (Heidelberg, March 10th).

No. 2 Birmingham-Southern clinched its fourth consecutive SAA regular season title with an 11-3 road win over Millsaps. BSC will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming tournament.  They host the first rounds April 28-30. Three Panthers had multi-hit games, but Tyler Hamel led all hitters. He went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run.  Ryan Gaines picked up the win to improve to 8-0 on the year.  Easton Fuller earned his third save of the season after going three scoreless innings and striking out a game-high five batters.

Elmira earned its first-ever win over Stevens in Hoboken, New Jersey, as the Soaring Eagles topped the Ducks in the seven-inning series opener by a final score of 7-1, before falling 9-0 in the nightcap of the Empire 8 Conference doubleheader. In only its third varsity season, the triumph in the opening game of the series against the Ducks snapped Stevens' six-game win streak against EC. Friday's win also marked the second consecutive E8 series in which the Soaring Eagles have secured a milestone win, having earned their first victory against Ithaca at Dunn Field on April 9.

Senior Ryan Dorow became the all-time hits leader in Adrian baseball history, and the Bulldogs stretched their winning streak to 12 in a row after a sweep of visiting Alma, 6-5 and 6-3, in MIAA action on Good Friday. Dorow passed Alex Cowart (235 from 2007-10) for the most hits in Adrian baseball history. With a sixth-inning single to right-center in game one, Dorow was recognized for the record-breaker. He now has 238 for his career, according to the NCAA.

No. 16 ranked Washington University split a doubleheader at Case Western Reserve in its second UAA series of the season, winning 1-0 in the opening game before falling 5-1 in the second at Nobby's Ballpark. Following the doubleheader, WashU has a UAA leading 5-1 record while Case Western is behind the Bears at 10-4 record within the UAA.

Rowan defeated Rutgers-Camden, 5-4 in a NJAC contest. Righthander Andrew Cohen tossed six innings for the victory. He allowed four runs, three earned, and nine hits while striking out eight. Righty Rob Grilli pitched the last three frames for his second save. Designated hitter Shawn Leydon went two-for-three with a double, three RBIs and one run scored.

Whitworth stayed alive in the chase for the NWC playoffs by sweeping visiting Pacific (Ore.) 12-5 and 7-3 at Merkel Field. The Pirates moved within a half game of Whitman in the chase for the fourth and final conference tournament spot. Tyler Bailey went 4-8 and drove in a pair of runs in each game, while Matthew Nelson hit his team leading 11th home run of the year to lead Whitworth. The Pirates and Boxers will complete the series with a single game on Saturday. In order to make the NWC tournament, Whitworth needs to win the series finale and hope that Whitman is swept by Linfield in that doubleheader.

Sewanee won a 4-1 decision to over home standing Centre in the first game of a three-game SAA series at Gary Wright Field. All four of Sewanee's runs came in the top of the fourth inning, as the Tigers used four base-hits highlighted by a two-run single by Derek Hullings to gain a 4-0 advantage.
