Amherst got their first win of the year by sweeping a doubleheader from Wisconsin Lutheran on Monday at the Player Development Complex. Amherst took the first of two seven-inning games 6-2 and then topped the Warriors 5-1 in the second half of the twin bill. A four-run second inning paved the way for Amherst's first victory of the year. The big blow was a Topher Brown bases-clearing three run double to put the Mammoths ahead for good after Wisconsin Lutheran had taken a one-run lead in the opening frame. Zach Horwitz was brilliant in relief for Amherst in game two, throwing four innings of one-hit, no-run and four strikeout ball. Despite five hits in the game, Amherst scored all of their runs on non-hit plays

After a tough first inning, the No. 1 UMass-Baston Beacons battled back to score 11 runs, but had to hang on over the final three frames to earn an 11-10 win over the 11^th ranked Oswego State at Polk State College. Kyle Boudrias led the Beacons with three RBI as he finished 1-for-3 with a run scored.  He also had a pair of sac-fly's in the win.  Wanderson Pinales also had a strong day with the bat, as the junior transfer went 2-for-4 with the two RBI and a run scored.  He had one of the Beacons two extra base hits, with the other going to Sal Frosceno, a triple.

University of Dallas was unable to snag its second three-game sweep in as many chances at home, after falling the first time there on Monday in a 10-6 result to Blackburn. The Crusaders reclaimed a 4-2 lead after scoring three runs in the third inning, but a pair of 4-run innings propelled Blackburn back on top the rest of the contest. Michael McDermand had the game-changing hit that lifted the Beavers up 6-5 in the fifth on a home run.

Nichols got back in the win column with a 14-6 victory over Fitchburg State in Auburndale, Fla. The Bison improve to 2-5 overall and return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they take on Amherst at 4:00 p.m. in Port Charlotte, Fla. Fitchburg State drops to 3-2 with the setback. Nichols recorded season-highs in both runs (14) and hits (20) in the game, including an eight-run fifth inning that helped the Bison rally from a 4-2 deficit to a 10-4 lead. The team would add single runs in both the sixth and seventh innings before tacking on a pair of runs in the eighth.

No. 3 Washington & Jefferson fell by a 10-0 score to NAIA No. 22 Point Park at Ross Memorial Park. The Pioneers scored once in each of the first four innings before putting up two runs in sixth, one in the seventh and three in the top of the ninth inning to finish the game. W&J hitters combined for four hits in the game coming off the bats of Mullen Socha, Mark Merlino, AJ Melvin and Evan Hannan. Hannan's hit was the first of his career, a double down the right-field line in the bottom of the ninth inning.

St. Scholastica had little trouble sweeping Iowa Wesleyan at the Russmatt Invitational.  The Saints scored in each of the first three innings and sophomore Dan Hansen registered eight strikeouts as St. Scholastica defeated the Tigers in game one 5-0. St. Scholastica scored seven runs in the final two innings to pull away from the Tigers in the nightcap and complete the sweep with a 13-2 victory.

Hood scored in double figures for the seventh straight game and extended its unbeaten streak to open 2018 to 12 games with a 19-4 win over Northwestern (Minn.). Drake Friend and Brad Sawyer had four hits apiece for the Blazers. Friend scored four times. Sawyer came up just a home run short of the cycle and scored three runs. Daniel Shepherd notched three hits, including a double, walked and scored four runs. Cam Esposito, Nathan Kessler and Quinn Fulton recorded three hits apiece. Esposito and Kessler each tripled. The Blazers tallied 23 hits in the game.

Baruch has played many memorable games over the years, but Monday is one doubleheader for the ages. The Bearcats and Newbury College Nighthawks totaled 59 runs and 64 hits to split a non-conference doubleheader. Newbury took game one 11-7 ad in the second game, the bats were alive again for both teams with the Bearcats winning by a football score of 21-20.

Ithaca improved its record to 4-3 on the season with a 4-2 victory at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Arce Field in Claremont, Calif. The win for the Bombers  snaps its two-game losing streak and drops CMS to 13-8 on the season. The Bombers recorded six hits in the win, with two a piece coming from Webb Little and Cam Fuoti, while Domenic Boresta scored twice and drew two walks. Senior Jack Morello earned his second win of the season in six innings pitched. Morello allowed seven hits and struck out five batters to just one walk. Junior Christian LaLomia secured his first career save in hitless three innings of work out of the bullpen with one strikeout.

No. 25 Rowan scored at least 10 runs for the fourth straight game in an 11-4 victory over Mount St. Joseph at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. The Profs picked up their fourth consecutive victory and sit at 7-1 overall. The Lions have a 6-4 record. Shortstop Dillon Mendel was five-for-five with two doubles, a triple, four RBIs and two runs scored. Second baseman Alex Kokos, first baseman Anthony Harrold and left fielder Monny Strickland each tallied one RBI and two runs. Harrold added a home run. Catcher Steven Hewa hit a double and center fielder Dan Shane had a triple.

California Lutheran used a five-run inning as the Kingsmen took down the Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Raiders 5-1 at Ullman Stadium. The Kingsmen have now won three straight games and are 11-9. They have now won three straight games twice this year. With the loss, Rutgers-Newark is now 4-4. Tanner Wright led the Violet and Gold with a triple and two RBIs. He also accounted for a run as he stole home. Alec Iniguez and Kaden White each tallied a RBI. Troy Frazier started on the mound for the Kingsmen. He pitched 5.0 innings, struck out five batters and only allowed four hits. He got the win and improved to 2-0.

Marietta scored six runs on one hit in the bottom of the fifth inning to break open a close game en route to a 13-7 victory over Susquehanna. Seamus Kenneally went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI, while Matt Hale was 2-for-3 with two runs batted in. Brady Cottom also finished with two hits in the game.

Springfield battled back from an eight-run deficit to defeat Stockton, 13-11, at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex. Monday's game marked the third of nine games that the Pride will play in Florida as part of the RussMatt Invitational. Win the win, the Pride improve to 3-2-1 on the year, while Stockton is now 1-3 overall. Springfield sed four pitchers in the win, highlighted by an impressive performance from freshman Duncan Satterlee in relief, while Fletcher Comment earned his second win of the season. Leading the Pride offensively was Mark Joao, who went 4-for-4 on the day, while freshmen Noah Bleakley and David Wells each picked up a pair of RBI. Additionally, Kyle Allen (Westerly, R.I.) had two hits and two RBI in five at bats.

Webster continued its hot play in Florida as the Gorloks used a four run first inning en route to earning an 8-5 victory over 10th-ranked Southern Maine in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational at Lake Myrtle Park. With the victory, Webster extends its win streak to five straight games and improves its record to 6-2 on the season, while USM falls to 1-2 on the season. The win was also the second this season for the Gorloks over a nationally-ranked foe as Webster opened the season with a 5-4 win over sixth-ranked Concordia (Chicago). In the win over the Huskies, Webster's offense matched its season high in hits with 14 and the Gorloks have now recorded double-digit hits in four consecutive games, including all three games on its spring break trip to Florida. Sophomore first baseman Kyler Kent led the way offensively for Webster as he was 4-for-5 at the plate and drove home two runs.
