Top-seeded LaGrange opened the USA South Tournament on Wednesday with a 5-2 win over Piedmont at Cleaveland Field in Williamson Stadium. The Panthers will play Maryville, a 5-3 winner over Huntingdon, Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at West Point Park in West Point, Ga. Ryan Broaderick started and went six innings to raise his record to 8-0. He pitched out of bases loaded one-out jam in the fourth and stranded runners on second and third in the sixth. Jonathan Fleckenstein closed out the game to earn his third save. He gave up an unearned run in the ninth in three innings of work. Ferrum defeated William Peace 12-0 in seven innings and will face the N.C. Wesleyan and Greensboro winner.

Jose Martinez pitched six solid innings and Andrew Deloury added a grand slam as Salem State easily dispatched Plymouth State 14-3. Martinez allowed just one run on four hits, with a strikeout and three walks in the win for the Vikings.

Western New England moved into second place in the Commonwealth Coast Conference standings with a pair of victories over Curry at Jack Valelly Diamond. The Golden Bears utilized a strong start from junior right-hander Jake Kawiecki to take the opener, 3-1, before completing the sweep with a 6-4, comeback win in game two.

Crown went to Northwestern in the rain to continue their UMAC play and won game one with two outs in the bottom of the ninth on a Harry Ballantyne triple scoring Parker Lippold, who singled the play before. The second game was called in the first inning due to the progressing thunderstorm. Note: the game was moved to Northwestern due to the weather, but still was played as a Crown home game. Ballantyne was the star of the show, with a double and two triples in the match, including the triple that scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Joe DeAngelis pitched four perfect innings in relief and combined with starter Billy Nelson for 12 strikeouts as Keystone edged host Drew 3-2 in non-conference action. DeAngelis struck out five batters while getting four flyouts and three groundouts to prevent any Rangers from reaching base. 

Marietta knocked off No. 23 Otterbein 4-3 in 10 innings in the first game of an OAC doubleheader at Don Schaly Stadium. The Cardinals salvaged a spilt with an 8-5 win in the second game. The Pioneers are 10-11 overall and are in a three-way tie for second place in the OAC with a 5-3 league record. Otterbein is 19-7 on the season and 5-3 in the OAC. Heidelberg is the third school with a 5-3 conference mark.

Senior right fielder Joe Coutinho's second double of the game in the bottom of the ninth inning drove in senior second baseman Jeff Reinecke as the tandem doubled back-to-back with one out in a 5-5 game and New Jersey City University walked off winners over St. Joseph's (Brooklyn), 6-5, in a non-conference makeup game at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex.

Freshman ace Saywer Lake extended his shutout streak to 22 innings as he struck out 10 in a 10-0 blanking of the Muhlenberg Mules. The Garnet offense continued its hot streak with 19 hits, including a three-run homer by Conor Elliott, his second long ball of the season. Elliott, Wesley Fishburn, Charles Levitt, Cole Beeker, and Max Grullon all collected three hits with Beeker and Grullon roping two doubles in the game. Fishburn and Elliott also had a trio of runs as Levitt crossed the plate twice as well. AJ Liu finished with two hits, including a double.

Westfield State continued is torrid pace at the plate, using a five-run fourth inning to break open a tight game as the Owls posted a 7-4 win over UMass-Dartmouth in a non-conference game at Bud and Jim Hagan Field. Jared Ferrari finished 2-3 at the plate with a pair of runs scored, and Aaron Clancy added a pair of hits for the Owls with two RBI.

Mount Union swept John Carroll 5-4 and 12-5 in an OAC doubleheader at 23 rd Street Field in Alliance. The Purple Raiders have now won seven of their last eight games to stand at 20-5 overall and remain in first place in the OAC with a 9-1 record. In the opener, Mount Union rallied with four runs in the final three innings including a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth to earn a 5-4 win. In game two Mount Union took the lead with a four-run fifth inning with the big hit a two-run single from Billy Goodall and responded with runs when JCU closed the gap.

Penn State Behrend picked up a pair of AMCC victories defeating Pitt-Bradford 6-1 and 2-1. The Lions are now at the halfway point of their conference schedule, posting a 7-1 record to hold second place, trailing 8-0 La Roche by a half game. The Lions hold a three game edges over Pitt-Bradford and Medialle. Benjamin Ramey had two sacrifice bunts in game, both leading to runs being scored to help Behrend complete the sweep.

Senior designated hitter Austin Barry went 3-for-4 with four RBI, while sophomore third baseman Mike Webb went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, as Rhode Island College defeated Johnson & Wales, 9-6. Freshman reliever Erry Baldayac hurled two scoreless frames to pick up his first collegiate save. Freshman reliever Riley Miller earned the win (1-0), the first of his collegiate career, allowing just two runs on five hits in three innings of work.

Second baseman Adam LaRue delivered an RBI single in the top of the 10th inning as No. 17 Washington & Jefferson ran its winning streak to 10 games with a 3-2, 10-inning win at Bethany. The victory continues the best start to Presidents' Athletic Conference play in program history at 12-0. The current 10-game winning streak is the longest for the Presidents since they won 12 straight at the conclusion of the 2013 regular season, which lasted through the PAC Tournament and into the NCAA Mideast Regional.
