Washington and Lee finished the day as the lone undefeated team in the ODAC tournament on Saturday with a 7-2 win over Virginia Wesleyan at City Stadium on day two of the ODAC Tournament. Junior Rick Spiers allowed one unearned run over seven innings and had two extra-base hits with two runs and two RBI to lead third-seeded Randolph-Macon over top-seeded Shenandoah 7-5. Roanoke also advanced eliminating Hampden-Sydney, 4-2. The Sunday schedule starts with two elimination games, Virginia Wesleyan vs Shenandoah and Roanoke vs Randolph-Macon, with the Generals waiting for an opponent to be determined.
Louisiana College's seven-run outburst in the eighth inning turned elimination into another game as the Wildcats topped UMHB 8-3 in the ASC Championship Tournament in Tyler, Texas. The loss eliminates the Cru from the tournament. In the following game, Concordia-Texas sent the host Texas-Tyler Patriots into the elinimation bracket, to face Lousiana College, with a 8-5 win. Texas-Tyler won their second tournament game with LC, 14-10 to continue their season asn face CTX for the Red Series title. Over in Dallas, East Texas Baptist defeated the Blue Series host, Texas Dallas, 9-8. The Comets rebounded with a 4-1 victory over Hardin Simmons to set up a rematch. Hardin Simmons opened the games in Dallas with a 9-7 win over Howard Payne.
Merchant Marine played 24 innings on Saturday, losing to SUNY Maritime 8-7 in 15 inings and 7-4 to Mount St. Mary's in regulation nine. SUNY Maritime and St. Joseph's (L.I) will play on Sunday for a spot in the championship game after St. Joseph's defeated Mount St. Mary's 18-4.
Fourth-seeded Lesley held on for a 5-4 upset over top-seeded Mitchell to open the 2017 NECC Championship at Alumni Field. The Lynx received a strong pitching performance from Tom Muratore and made the most of one big offensive inning to post their first-ever win in the tournament. Muratore improved to 7-3 on the year and allowed four runs over 7.0 innings and struck out five. J.P. Agiorgousis went 3-for-4 with an RBI to pace the Lesley offense while Vincent Taliercio and Steven DePalma each had a pair of hits. Mike Slaby also provided a big RBI double in the eighth inning to plate what proved to be the winning run. Elms will play Lesley after a 14-5 win over Becker.
After allowing an early lead to disappear and actually falling behind at one point, second-seed New England College used the long ball to rally for an 11-8 victory over third-seed Lyndon in the second game of the 2017 North Atlantic Conference Tournament at Spartan Field on the campus of Castleton. Host Castleton fell in the opening game to Husson 7-2 and rebounded to send Lyndon home with a 12-0 win. New England College will face No. 4 Husson in game four of the tournament to see who will advance to the NAC championship game. The Pilgrim's win marks the ninth-straight for NEC, setting a new program record for consecutive wins. The previous winning streak, eight games, was set 43-years ago during the 1974 season.
Junior Ryan Arena hit the go-ahead home run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift second-seeded Babson to a 3-2 win over fifth-seeded MIT in the opening game of the NEWMAC Tournament championship series at Govoni Field. Game two of the best-of-three series will begin at noon on Sunday at Govoni Field, with game three, if necessary, slated for 3 p.m.
Second-seeded Suffolk took care of business in the GNAC semifinals as the Rams cruised past fourth-seeded Johnson & Wales, 11-1, at Fraser Field to secure its place in the conference championship contest. The Rams have now made 14 trips to the conference's championship game. Johnson & Wales rebounded from their loss wit a 15-1 win over Lasell to set up a rematch with Suffolk. Lasell eliminated top seed St. Joseph's (Maine) 5-3 in the opening game of the day.
Needing a win to continue playing in the NJAC Championship Tournament, Rutgers-Newark did just that, upsetting top-seeded and nationally-ranked No. 18 The College of New Jersey, 3-1, at Jim Hynes Stadium. Sophomore starter Anthony Rosoline went 7.1 superb innings to get the win, senior captain Josh Cote had two hits and all three RBI and reliever Luis Rojas recorded his seventh save of the season to lead the fourth-seeded Scarlet Raiders. In the opening game of day two in the tournament, Ramapo eliminated William Paterson 6-1. In the final game of the day Rowan outlasted Kean 4-3 in 12 innings.
Widener rebounded after a game one loss and advanced in the MAC Commonwealth tournament as they defeated Lebanon Valley, 8-6, in game three at Peoplesbank Park. They will play a noon game on Sunday against top seeded Alvernia. The Crusaders were sent into the elimination round with an 8-4 loss at the hands of Arcadia. The Knights await the winner of the final elimination game.
Endicott and Gordon both defeated Western New England on Saturday. The Gulls were 5-4 winners and the Fighting Scots 5-3. Endicott and Gordon will play each other to see who will advance to the best of three championship series. At Salve Regina, rain delayed the second pod until Sunday.
In a game filled with clutch hits, sophomore Jarod Penniman had the final one as he lifted Chapman to an 8-7 win over La Verne to stay in the SCIAC Tournament. The Panthers' did not find the same success in the evening as they fell ro Redlands 17-8. Redlands found thenselves in an elimination game after a 4-3 loss to Cal Lutheran. The Kingsmen will play the Bulldogs again but Redlands will have to win twice to claim the SCIAC pass to the NCAA playoffs.
No. 2 Birmingham-Southern came back and defeated Rhodes 7-6 in dramatic fashion to take the 1-0 lead in the 2017 SAA championship series. The Panthers had a walkoff sacrifice fly to end the game in the bottom of the ninth. Tyler Hamel led the team offensively. e went 2-for-3 with a run. Preston White and Jacob Drescher each hit home runs to left field on the day. And it was White and Tyler Wise who earned a team-high two runs each. The best of three series resumes on Sunday.

Two down, two to go – Ursinus is back in the Centennial Conference championship. The Bears, who got home runs from seniors Kieran Geyer and Austin Kurey, built a late 5-0 lead and survived a furious ninth-inning rally by Haverford to advance to their first league championship series since 2007 with a hard-earned 6-4 rollercoaster ride against the defending CC champs. Two thrilling wins under its belt under its belt, including a 10-7 victory over Gettysburg in the first elimination game, Ursinus now needs to repeat the feat to capture its fourth conference crown and first since 2000 and snag the CC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Bears will have to do it against host Johns Hopkins, which extended its winning streak to 18 games with a 4-1 victory over the Fords earlier in the day.
The Baruch Bearcats defeated the Bloodhounds of John Jay, 7-2, in the CUNYAC Championship winner's bracket contest at the College of Staten Island. The team advances to play on Sunday and need to only win one game against Staten Island to claim the title. Staten Island earned their spot in the title game with a 21-3 win over CCNY and a final elimination bracket game, sending John Jay home 6-1.
The fifth-ranked Wooster Scots nearly walked off in the bottom of the ninth inning, but did so in the bottom of the 10th inning instead to win its 30th game of the season 5-4, before capping a NCAC Crossover Series twin bill with a 10-0, eight-inning shutout over visiting Ohio Wesleyan at Art Murray Field. Denison and Depauw won single games on the NCAC crossover weekend with the final games set for Sunday.
Keystone and Immaculata each won a game in Saturday's CSAC doubleheader to close out the regular season. The Giants clinched the top seed with a 6-2 win in the first game before the Mighty Macs rallied for a 9-5 victory in a rain-shortened nightcap. Keystone and Immaculata, who will be the #2 seed in this spring's CSAC playoffs, will both host first round playoff games on Wednesday afternoon with opponents to be determined as Gwynedd Mercy and Neumann play doubleheaders on Sunday to determine the #3 and #4 seeds.
Timely hits, shutdown pitching and flawless defense led Drew to a 2-1 win at Elizabethtown and clinched a berth in the 2017 Landmark Conference Championship. Drew joins Catholic and Susquehanna who have all clinched a spot in next week's double-elimination tournament at the home of the No. 1 seed. The Rangers are still alive for the No. 1 spot if Catholic loses its final game to Moravian, and Drew wins its final two games at Elizabethtown on Sunday.
Completing the season sweep of Carthage by scores of 3-1 an 11-7, the North Central (Ill.) clinched at least a share of their third-consecutive CCIW regular season championship, the 13th in program history. North Central currently holds a one game lead in the CCIW standings over Wheaton (Ill.) and with a victory over the Thunder on Monday the Cardinals can clinch sole possession of the regular season title and right to host the CCIW Tournament next weekend.
Earlham clinched its first HCAC regular season title in program history, defeating Hanover 6-0 at Randal R. Sadler Stadium. The conference title win marks the first time the Quakers' baseball program has won a conference championship since winning the Collegiate Athletic Conference in 1989. Earlham will conclude its regular season with a doubleheader against Hanover Sunday beginning at noon. The Quakers will then host the HCAC Tournament, scheduled to begin on Thursday next week.
