ST. PAUL – University of Northwestern's Dave Hieb reached another milestone Thursday, as the longtime skipper earned his 400th career win at Northwestern. The Eagles (3-9) split the non-conference doubleheader at Reynolds Field with visiting Finlandia (3-11), taking game one, 3-0, before dropping the nightcap in extras, 3-2.

Game One
Backed by Philip Wall (Juneau, AK./IDEA)'s gem on the mound and Carlton Lindow (Cannon Falls, Minn./Cannon Falls)'s three-run bomb in the fourth inning, the Eagles picked up a win in their home opener. Wall tossed a two-hit shutout, as the freshman fanned eight while not issuing a walk. He is now 2-0 on the season.

The two teams combined for just three hits in the pitchers dual, as Lindow's blast was the lone hit for UNW.

Game Two
In another battle of strong starting pitching, UNW and Finlandia needed extra innings to decide a winner.

Nathan Ehnstrom (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin) was tagged with the loss despite throwing a solid game. The senior didn't allow an earned run, while striking out four and surrendering no walks. Ehnstrom helped his own cause at the plate in the bottom of the third, delivering a run-scoring single to left.

UNW's second run came in the fourth via a Finlandia error which allowed Carlton Lindow (Cannon Falls, Minn./Cannon Falls) to touch home.

Caleb Piersma (Pella, Iowa/Pella) drew a pair of walks and knocked a base hit.
