An early offensive outburst helped Chapman hang on for a 9-7 win over Whittier on Saturday. The win evened the SCIAC series but was supposed to be the first game of a doubleheader. With showers going on and off during the first game and a steady rainfall in the late innings, the Panthers and Poets decided to postpone the third and final game of the series until Tuesday.
Albion pulled off a double steal – with Andrew Arszulowicz taking home – to perfection in the seventh inning to complete its spring break trip with a 4-3 victory over St. Vincent at Lake Myrtle Park. The Britons were efficient with the four hits they had in the game. Riley Stesiak hit a 3-run shot to left after Edward Gietzen doubled and Joe Turnbull walked with two out in the third for the rest of their runs..
Senior left fielder Eric Knepper clouted a pair of home runs in game one, while fellow senior Brandon Eck fired a solid pitching effort in the nightcap to lead Manchester. Knepper's two bombs, highlighting a three-for-three, three-run-scored, two-RBI line, aided a solid mound performance from the trio of seniors Stephen Pinarski and Garrett Phelps and junior John Magers. They combined to surrender just one earned run on five hits while striking out four DePauw University Tigers as part of a 5-3 win. Eck went six innings, allowing only eight hits and three earned runs over six innings to join Pinarski at 2-0 on the year.
Navada Waterman a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift RIT to a 6-5 victory over Ohio Northern from Lake Myrtle Park. The Tigers led 3-0 after two innings of play and 4-0 after four innings before the Polar Bears rallied, scoring single runs in the fifth and sixth innings and three unearned runs in the ninth inning to take a 5-4 lead.
Guilford broke up a scoreless game with a seven-run eighth inning in Saturday's 7-2 win over visiting Wittenberg. The victory completed the Quakers' three-game sweep of the Tigers in the weekend series. Both starting pitchers delivered excellent efforts. Wittenberg rookie Tanner Griggs fanned eight and scattered four hits in seven innings. Guilford junior Mitchell Stumpo had five strikeouts and yielded two hits and two walks. The Quakers' defense provided three double plays, including one to end the sixth inning where Guilford's Rocco Wilcox threw out Jeremy McAleese at the plate after catching Gabe Stacy's fly ball to right.
Sewanee completed a three-game sweep of the Mississippi University for Women Owls from Montgomery Field, winning 18-10. The start of the game foretold the story of the game as Jared Demkowicz launched a homer to right field in the bottom of the first to lead off the contest. After a nine run second, Sewanee was in control and had an answer for every run posted by the Owls.
Senior Steven D'Agostino struck out six in a complete-game win, his first of the season, as WPI split a baseball doubleheader with St. Joseph's (ME), in the Engineers Florida finale. The Crimson and Gray took the eye-opener 6-3 while the Monks claimed the second 5-4. The local lefty totaled 64 strikes on 97 pitches, allowed two earned runs and scattered three hits in his second decision of 2018.
Senior Quinn DiPasquale didn't allow a hit until the sixth inning, freshman Ambrose Consol drove in the first runs of his collegiate career, and Stevens topped Middlebury, 8-4 on a chilly evening at Dobbelaar Field. It was the first-ever meeting between the teams. The teams will meet again one week from tonight. Inserted into the third spot in the lineup, freshman Thomas Paulich went 3-for-4 with an RBI and senior Tommy Baronner doubled and scored twice for the Ducks, who won their second straight game to improve to 3-4. Designated Hitter Justin Han had two hits and scored twice for Middlebury, who dropped its season opener. The game marked the earliest opening day in program history.

Junior pitcher Dakota McFadden took matters into his own hands today for Keystone. He picked up a complete game victory by striking out 11 and scattering eight hits as the Giants pulled out a 3-2 victory over Heidelberg. In addition, McFadden advanced junior Mohammed Hussein to third base with a fly ball to right center field with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Hussein then scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch on an intentional walk to junior Ronald Medina.
Catholic wraps up its 2018 spring break trip with a 15-5 victory over Wilkes to advance its overall season record to 11-0. Catholic senior Jon Mierzwa started on the mound for Catholic throwing six strikeouts in four innings. Senior Sean Carroll registered the win with two Ks in two innings. Sophomore Eric Moore pitched the seventh and eighth innings and senior Collin Brown closed out the game for the Cardinals.
SUNY Fredonia won in what is becoming a familiar fashion, coming from four runs down to defeat William Paterson, 7-6. Fredonia used a seven-run eighth to take command of the game, and five pitchers worked through the nine-inning contest. On Friay, Fredonia needed comebacks in both games with Gordon to sweep the twin bill.
Max Gordon hit his first career home run – a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning, then Justin Katona won it in the 10th with a RBI to center field leading Lewis and Clark College to a come-from-behind 11-10 victory over Swarthmore, in game two of a twin bill on tha ampus of Lewis and Clark. The Garnet won the opener behind the pitching of Ricky Conti.
King's (Pa.) wrapped up the team's annual spring break trip with a sweep of John Carroll at the Lake Myrtle Complex in Auburndale, Florida. The Monarchs won by scores of 5-2 and 5-1. After a rough start to the trip against a tough schedule, King's will return north with a 3-5 record while John Carroll falls to 7-4.
Bluffton scored a run in the first and never looked back as the Beavers took down Edgewood 11-6. Bluffton improved to 8-2 on the season, notching the best 10-game start in school history! Edgewood fell to 0-1 following its 2018 season opener. Golden tied a school record with five hits on the day, going a perfect 5-of-5 with three doubles. He drove in four and scored two times. Ruhl laced four hits and scored three runs, while Gregory also crossed the dish three times with two hits. Latkofsky had a day with four safeties and he scored twice. Freshman Garrett O'Reilly notched his first collegiate victory, allowing three runs, two earned. on four hits in five innings of work. Cam Clark and Tommy Siemer set up for Dante D'Andrea who worked a perfect ninth with a pair of strikeouts.
Junior lefthander John Gegetskas fanned a dozen hitters and outfielder Anthony Crowley hit a towering home run to lead Westfield State to a 3-1 win over St. Norbert and earn a doubleheader split at Lake Myrtle Park. St. Norbert claimed a 9-5 win over the Owls in game one, as Owls starter Nate Marshall struggled with his control and did not make it out of the first inning after issuing four walks to open the game. Sean Grant and Andrew Petrik each delivered two-run singles to stake the Green Knights to a 6-0 lead after the top of the first.
