No. 25 Wheaton (Mass.) collected its first shutout of the season Wednesday morning, defeating Pitt.-Greensburg 10-0 in game five of the RussMatt Invitational. The Lyons, who just broke into the NCBWA/D3baseball top-25, move to 5-1 on the season on the season and 4-1 at the RussMatt Invite. On top of posting a season-high 18 hits in the game, the Lyons also received stellar pitching from sophomore righty John Mikosz who completed six innings, giving up just one hit, while striking out seven of the 23 batters he faced, en route to the first win of his career. Zach Pipa and Stephen Quigley closed out the contest, both surrendering just one hit while striking out four combined. senior Jared Sharkey and first-year Andrew Manni each finished the contest 3-for-4 from the plate with two RBI and a walk. Junior Nick Raposo went 3-for-5 and Bryant Salkind finished 2-for-4.
Sophomore righthander Ryan Yerby earned his first collegiate victory in leading RPI to a 7-0 combined one-hit shutout of SUNY Cobleskill, at Robison Field. Yerby saw his no-hit bid spoiled with one out in the top of the sixth. Yerby allowed just one hit over 5.2 innings in his second start of the year. He struck out four and walked four, finishing with 87 pitches. Classmate Chris Grome worked a perfect seventh and eighth with three strikeouts, before fellow sophomore Thomas Neuman got through the ninth, surrendering only a walk.
Frostburg State won its 10th-straight contest, defeating Gallaudet, 12-7 on the road Wednesday afternoon. The game ended in the eighth inning, due to darkness. Bobcat junior first baseman Ryan Roell had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and five RBI, while also crossing the plate three times. He plated the first run of the ballgame with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first.
No. 7 Concordia-Chicago took to the field today for game three of the Florida trip. CUC didn't miss a beat as a team hitting two grand slams and a two run homer to go along with a complete game effort on the mound to down Fredonia 12-1. Brody Mariotti and Connor Brandon both hit grand slams with Mateo Calle adding a two run blast in the third, his first of the season. Alex Crinigan was dominate, throwing seven innings while allowing just one run on five hits while striking out six.
Fueled by a clutch pinch-hit at-bat and more strong pitching, Catholic came out on top over Lancaster Bible, 11-3. The Cardinals (7-3) won its seventh-straight contest to complete an undefeated spring break trip in Myrtle Beach at the Ripken Experience. The team trailed during the first half of the nine-inning contest and overcame a 2-0 deficit to score eleven runs on 14 hits. Senior pitcher Mason Belcher led the way on the hill with six impressive innings of work to keep Catholic in the game.
Washington etended its unbeaten streak to six-straight games as the Bears shutout Lesley in a 5-0 victory to begin play in Florida over spring break. Sophomore pitcher Tim Tague picked up his second victory of the season by tossing seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits and one walk compared to six strikeouts. Sophomore pitcher Mitchell Black concluded the Bears second shutout of the season. He threw the final two scoreless frames surrendering one hit and striking out one. The Red & Green reached double digits in hits for the fifth time this season as four Bears had multi hit performances. Sophomore first baseman Johnny LaMantia led the team with three hits in four at-bats and his two runs tied with junior centerfielder John Ostrander for the team lead. Freshman right fielder Jackson Gray knocked in a game-high two runs.

Ithaca posted its most impressive offensive onslaught in the early 2019 season on at Occidental, as the Bombers defeated the Tigers, 18-5, on 25 hits, which included three home runs. IC is now 3-2 on the season, while Occidental drops to 12-4. After two scoreless innings of play, Ithaca erupted for 16 runs over the next four innings to secure the lopsided victory.
Case Western Reserve sophomore outfielder/ catcher Jake Ryan matched a program record with six hits, and freshman right-handed pitcher Willem Bouma pitched five shutout innings in his first-career start, as the Spartans dominated Roger Williams in a 19-1 win in seven innings at the Spartan Southern Classic in Lexington, South Carolina. The win gave the Spartans a resounding response after getting swept in a doubleheader on Tuesday, as the team improved to 5-5 overall, while Roger Williams dropped to 3-2 with the loss.
Ursinus routed Curry, 14-1, in the first game of a doubleheader and held a 6-0 lead late for the potential sweep in the second contest but saw the advantage evaporate in the last inning to suffer a 7-6 setback. Ursinus (4-2) scored 20 combined runs in the doubleheader, with most of its offensive damage coming in the morning edition. Freshman Jon Moldoff had quite a day, going 5-for-7 with six RBI and two runs scored. In the first game, Moldoff knocked in five runs and finished a home run shy of the cycle. The Bears received solid pitching starts from both lefties, sophomore Will Peiffer and senior David Drea. Peiffer picked up his first career win after previously closing out a save against SUNY Poly in Ursinus' last game. Peiffer gave the Bears six sharp innings, scattering four hits, allowing a lone run, striking out six, and walking just one. Drea gave the Bears five good innings of two-run ball, allowing six hits and a walk.
Damian Yenzi accounted for four of Marietta's five runs as the Etta Express knocked off No. 24 ranked Kean 5-3, in their final game at the Snowbird Baseball Classic. Yenzi, the Pioneer third baseman, had base hits in his first three plate appearances driving in three runs and scoring another. He finished the game 3-for-4 with a walk, three runs batted in, a run scored and a stolen base.

Kenny Jarema had a double and a homer and drove in two runs and Tyler Holzapfel added two RBI as the Misericordia University baseball team downed Stevens, 7-5, Wednesday. Down 2-1, MU scored six runs in the sixth inning to go ahead. Kyle Rogalski struck out five in 3.2 innings of relief while Kyle Melahn earned his third save of the year and tied the all-time school record at 11.
Sophomore right-hander Gavin Niland struck out seven and allowed just four hits in 7.2 innings in his first start for New Jersey City and senior shortstop Nick LaGatto notched his 100th career hit as part of a three-run opening inning as the Gothic Knights concluded their 2019 spring trip with a 6-3 win over Gordon at Osceola Heritage Park Stadium. After losing the first three games of the trip, NJCU evened its season record and its Florida mark at 3-3 overall. NJCU scored single runs in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings. Gordon turned the tables on another NJAC opponent as the Scots got past Montclair State, 4-2.
No. 22 Salisbury defeated visiting Hampden-Sydney, 12-2, following a late offensive outburst. Salisbury (8-4-1) was unable to solve Tigers starting pitcher Kieran Conway as it was held hitless through the first four innings, but finally broke through in the bottom of the fifth inning. The floodgates opened in the eighth inning for the Sea Gulls as 11 batters came to the plate to drive home five more runs to finish the scoring. Brad Haas and Jimmy Adkins led the team in the victory by combining for seven hits, six RBI and five runs.
TCNJ opened the season with an impressive 7-3 victory over Alvernia at George Ackerman Park. TCNJ jumped out to a 6-0 lead after five innings. Tommy McCarthy led the offensive attack with three of the Lions' 12 hits. Three other players had two hits apiece. Pitching a bullpen game, the Lions cycled through seven pitchers. Peter Nielsen started for the Lions, and he picked up the win after going three innings while allowing just two hits and striking out three. Zac deRocco pitched a spotless frame in the sixth inning, striking out one in the process.
Skidmore posted a 10-2, 9-2 sweep of Lakeland. The wins move the Thoroughbreds to 4-3, while Lakeland drops to 0-5. In the first game, Pat Geiger went 2-4 with two doubles and four RBI. He broke the game open with a three-run double in a four run sixth inning. Briston Maynard was 1-1 with two runs and three walks. Christian Italiano went 1-3 with three RBI. Will Potter was efficient on the mound. He allowed two runs on seven hits with two strikeouts. The second game went the same way. The Thoroughbreds scored four runs in the second inning to take control early. Jake Hardy went 1-2 with a two-run single in the sixth. Sean Lang was 2-2 with two runs. Matt Chipkin went 1-2 with a run, two walks, and three stolen bases. Spencer Meyer picked up the win, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits over six innings. He also had five strikeouts with no walks.
Mary Hardin-Baylor put up two big innings as the Cru posted a 10-1 victory over Blackburn in Belton. UMHB improves to 4-12 with the win while the loss drops the Beavers to 0-7 on the year. Landon Dieterich had three hits for UMHB and Malek Bolin, Garrett Gonzales and Jack Herbert added two hits apiece. Eight Cru pitchers combined on a three-hitter and held the Beavers hitless for the final six innings of the contest. Hayden Ball picked up the win to move to 1-0. Dalton Fisher took the loss for Blackburn to drop to 0-1 on the season.
