No. 15 ranked. UW-Whitewater crossed over the .500 mark Monday with a pair of victories at the RussMatt Invitational at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla. The Warhawks (5-4 overall) topped Middlebury (Vt.) by a 4-3 score in their final at-bat, and defeated Franklin (Ind.) by a 6-3 score to close the day. In the game against Franklin (9-5), a fellow 2018 NCAA Central Regional qualifier, senior pitcher Michael Kaska tossed eight shutout innings, allowing only four hits and one walk while striking out a career-high 12 batters. He improved to 1-2 on the season with the win.
SUNY Old Westbury closed their 13-game road trip in West Harrison, New York with 7-1 and 8-4 Skyline Conference road wins over the Yeshiva Maccabees (1-9, 0-6 Skyline) from Silver Lake Park. The Panthers (5-7-1, 2-2 Skyline) have now won 24-straight games versus Yeshiva dating back to 2008. Panther starter Jason Espinal (1-0) allowed one run, scattered three hits and fanned five batters in five innings of work to collect Old Westbury's win. Relievers Steven Tellerias (2 IP, 2 K) and Alipio Tiburcio (2 IP, H, BB) combined to pitch four scoreless innings. Matt Bohenek set a career high with eight strikeouts and starter Eddie Guzman (ND: 3 H, 2 R, ER, 5 BB) retired a career-high five on strikes in 3.1 innings.
After weather conditions put a halt to their doubleheader over the weekend, the College of Mount Saint Vincent traveled to out east to take on St. Joseph's (L.I.) - the unanimous top pick in the Skyline Conference preseason poll. In what has become a theme this season, the Dolphins played strong throughout, taking one from the Golden Eagles to bring their overall record in 2019 to 6-6 while sporting an impressive 3-1 mark in conference play. The game one contest saw the Golden Eagles emerge victorious in a strong fashion, as they went on to defeat the Dolphins by the score of 7-0. Game two, however, was a completely different story as the Dolphins shut out the confrence favorites 4-0.
Behind a dominant performance from sophomore Dakota Aldrich, Springfield prevailed over Brandeis, 1-0, in it's home opener on Archie Allen Field. The win marks the third-consecutive for the maroon and white, and brings the Pride's record to 6-6, while the Judges are now to 8-5. Aldrich picked up his first win of the year behind 8.0 innings of one-hit ball, while also fanning eight Judges batters. Nick Naples came on and picked up his second-career save, as he forced Brandeis into three quick outs. Brandeis starter Mason Newman (New Rochelle, N.Y.) had a quality start as well, as he threw 8.0 frames, giving up just three hits while striking out four despite taking his first loss of the year.

Aided by an eight-run fifth inning, Matthew Sox delivered his first scoreless outing of the season, tossing seven complete innings with seven strikeouts to pace the Whitman College baseball team to a series-winning 9-1 win over Willamette in Northwest Conference action Monday at Borleske Stadium. Sox scattered four hits and issued just one base on balls over his scoreless outing to improve to 3-1. Starter Nathan Gilman (3-2) was tagged with the loss for the Bearcats (11-10, 8-7 NWC), allowing six runs on nine hits in four and one-third innings of work. The eight fifth-inning runs for the Blues proved to be more than enough offense for Sox. 12 hitters came to the plate with Alex Behrman (2 H, 2 R, 2 RBI) and Lucas Thrun both delivering two-RBI hits. After a Cole Edwards RBI-hit and a Brett Williams (1 H, 1 RBI) double, Behrman drove home both with a single up the middle of the infield.
Hope mustered a large enough rally for one victorious comeback in the first MIAA doubleheader of the season, but not a second one the Flying Dutchmen wanted. Hope (9-1 overall) split a doubleheader at home with Calvin College on Monday winning the opener, 15-9, at Boeve Stadium behind an eight-run sixth inning before dropping the nightcap, 8-3.
Four different players finished with two hits and 21st-ranked Babson scored 11 runs in the fifth inning on the way to defeating visiting Plymouth State, 13-3, in non-conference action on Monday afternoon at Govoni Field. Babson, which has won eight consecutive games, improves to 9-2 on the year, while Plymouth State slips to 7-7 overall. Senior Edward Lehr went 2-for-4 with a double and five RBI, while classmate Eric Jaun had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs for the Beavers. Fellow senior Brian McHale singled and scored twice, sophomore Alex Reynolds chipped in with a pair of base hits, and junior Jake Oliger walked four times and scored three runs in the victory. First-year Andrew Garbarini earned his first collegiate win allowing two earned runs on three hits while striking out four in 5.1 innings for Babson. Senior Geoff Kayo (Londonderry, N.H.) went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI to lead the Panthers.
Millikin extended its winning streak to four games in a 12-2 victory over Wisconsin-Stout in Decatur. During the four game stretch, the Big Blue have outscored opponents 37-8 and have used balanced hitting and dominant pitching performances just before the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin season opener on March 27 at Augustana. In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Big Blue added the two runs necessary to activate the 10 run mercy rule on a solo home run by Mason Bruce and an RBI single by Gabe Soria that scored Frank Bryan. Bruce was 2-4 on the day with three RBI, and Soria was 2-3 with two RBI.
Junior Jack Vaccari went 4 for 8 with five runs batted in to help RPI to a doubleheader sweep of Skidmore at Robison Field. With wins of 14-7 and 10-5, the Engineers improve to 7-5 overall (3-1 Liberty League), while the Thoroughbreds drop to 6-6 (1-3 Liberty League). Junior righthander Christopher Palmiero earned his second win on the year for RPI, allowing six runs (2 earned) on six hits over 6.2 innings. He struck out three and walked one. Sophomore righthander Mike Tagaris was stellar in relief, allowing just a single hit over 3.0 innings to finish the contest. He earned his first collegiate win, walking one and needing just 29 pitches.
