evening, the Kenyon College Lords built an early lead
in game two and held on to salvage a doubleheader
split with the Monmouth College Scots. Kenyon took
game two by a 4-3 final. Prior to that, Monmouth blew
open what was a close game to record a 9-0 win.

Seniors Mike and Shawn Nickles combined for five hits, four runs and seven RBI and brother Matt tossed three perfect innings as the No. 2 Randolph-Macaon topped York 14-1 on Thursday afternoon for its best start in program history. The Yellow Jackets extended their win streak to 11 games. R-MC is off to its best start in school history. The 1969 team started 14-1 on its way to a final mark of 18-2. The euphoria of a 13-run victory was quickly dashed following the game as the Yellow Jackets learned that the NCAA had cancelled all winter and spring championships. A team that includes 15 seniors was off to its best start in program history at 15-1 would not have a chance to compete for a regional, super regional or national championship.

Freshman second baseman D.J. Neff launched a walk-off homer to lift Ohio Wesleyan over Bridgewater State in non-conference play in Port Charlotte, Fla. With the score tied at 2 heading into the bottom of the ninth, Neff greeted Bridgewater State reliever Charlie McCaffrey with a home run to left, giving the Bishops the win. Cole Antle and Neff each went 2-for-4 for Ohio Wesleyan.

Senior center fielder Josh Silva became the program's all-time leader in career steals as Rhode Island College swept a doubleheader from Penn State Altoona. Silva stole second in the fourth inning to break the RIC stolen base record, which was previously held by his father, RIC Athletic HOFer Len Silva '87. He then added to the record in the sixth inning with another stolen base. Silva currently has 66 career steals. Connor Davey took a no-hit bid into the sixth inning that the Lions ruined with one out on an RBI single to center field.

Brett Sullivan threw a one-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts in the opener while PJ Gravalec fired a four hitter with a career-high 11 punch outs in the second game as Coast Guard swept Wisconsin Lutheran 3-0 and 16-0 to wrap up its southern swing at the Gene Cusic Classic. Nolan Johnson led the Bears at the plate with three hits in each game, going 6 for 7 on the day. He returns north with a .500 average (11-22) and a team-high .813 slugging percentage. Blake Carroll, who hit safely in all seven games on the trip, leads the team with a .522 batting average. Gravalec allowed just one unearned run did not walk a batter and fanned 17 in his two starts on the trip while Sullivan also allowed just one unearned run, walked just one struck out 17.

Sewanee scored in each of the first four innings to rout Iowa Wesleyan, 22-8, from Montgomery Field. Originally scheduled for a doubleheader, the game was delayed over three hours due to foggy conditions. Because of this, the second game was canceled. Braxton Swanson posted four RBI on a 2-for-3 day with two runs scored. Chris McNulty scored four times, while Shane Smith added three runs.

Swarthmore closed out the spring break trip to Florida with a 8-1 victory over Baldwin Wallace. Swarthmore finished the break with 7-2 and improves to 10-2 on the season. The Yellow Jackets fall to 5-5. Zach Camp allowed one hit, three walks and recorded a strikeout in five innings of work on the mound. The Garnet move to 3-0 in the last three games against Baldwin Wallace University. Swarthmore defeated the Yellow Jackets in the 2018 NCAA Tournament, 11-6, and earlier this week with a 3-1 victory on Saturday.

A complete game by junior pitcher Quinn Gudaitis led Illinois Wesleyan to a 4-2 victory over previously unbeaten UMass Dartmouth. With the win, the Titans improved their record to 7-3 while handing the Corsairs their first loss of the season, dropping them to 8-1. Gudaitis struck out 10 UMass Dartmouth hitters while giving up five hits and a pair of runs while also forcing two double plays. This is the third complete game of his career and the first since May 10, 2019, when he went the distance against North Park in the CCIW Tournament. At the plate, five Titans collected hits, led by senior Nick Figus going 2-for-5 and a run scored.

No. 10 Salisbury squared off against No. 11 Shenandoah at Sea Gull Baseball Stadium on and came away with a big 9-7 victory following a late offensive surge. After struggling with his command in the first inning, Salisbury starting pitcher Jackson Balzan settled in to pitch 5 2/3 affected innings, striking out six batters and scattering seven hits. Corey Burton (1-0) picked up his first win of the season, pitching two innings in relief while striking out three batters. Braden Stinar was credited with the save, tossing the final 1 1/3 innings of the game while allowing no hits and striking out one batter to secure the victory. Justin Meekins shined on the afternoon, going 2-for-2 at the plate while also drawing a pair of walks. The senior drove in three runs, including his two-run homer, while also swiping his team-leading 11th stolen base.

No. 12 Rhodes continued their play on their Spring Break trip against Westfield State. A big four run second inning gave the Lynx the edge they needed to down the Owls 5-3. Nick Ferazzi kept the Owls in check as he started on the mound tossing three innings and holding them to two runs (zero earned). He struck out two batters in the process. Chayton Gray improved to 2-0 on the mound as he threw 3.2 innings in relief. He held Westfield State to a single run, five hits, while striking out six hitters. John Fears and Alex Garrett combined for a scoreless 2.1 innings. Garrett picked up his second save of the season. John McNair led the Lynx with three hits in the ballgame, while recording his first double of the season. Will Heurtin tallied two hits.

Senior Drew Ryback earned a complete-game victory and junior Ryan Mostrangeli drove in four runs as the 14th-ranked Rowan baseball team opened its Spring Break trip with a 12-2 win over Concordia-Chicago at the RussMatt Invitational. Ryback (3-0) struck out four and scattered seven hits to record the win for Rowan (6-0). Mostrangeli was 2-for-4 with a home run, while Jason Bobiak went 1-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBI. Catcher Jared Marks had two RBI and Michael Manganella and Trip McCaffrey each scored two runs for the Profs.

Staying perfect in Florida the Loras (3-6) defeated Juniata (4-3) by a final score of 8-5 as Ethan Peters now moves to 1-1 on the season for the Duhawks. Loras built a 8-2 advantage and the Eagles attempted to rally but the pitching staff, defense, and the previously established Loras lead were too much for the Eagles to overcome as the Duhawks took home the victory.

Freshman Braxton Eades threw six shutout innings in Averett's 5-0 victory over Guilford in non-conference action. Averett (1-17) picked up its first victory of the 2020 season, scoring three runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 3-0 advantage over Guilford (7-8). The Cougars finished the afternoon with three double plays, two of which came in the final innings, including the final two outs of Thursday's victory.

Beloit extended its win streak to five games with a 6-2 rout of Nebraska Wesleyan in the RussMatt Invitational Thursday morning in Auburndale, Florida. Danny Belling bolstered the Buccaneers in the win with a fantastic performance on the mound. Belling was tabbed for the start fanning 10 while walking just one and scattering six hits in eight innings of shutout work. Zachary Miller and Kaiya Nishino finished out the contest on the mound for the Bucs as Belling registered the win to move to 1-1 on the season.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Moments after putting the finishing touches on a dominant 11-3 win over Bridgewater State University, the members of the Heidelberg University baseball team learned that their season -- like so many across the country -- was coming to a premature end because of COVID-19 precautions. In the victory, Jake Davis went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and six RBI. Davis was one of five players with multiple hits on the day as the Student Princes pounded out 17 hits off of Bears pitching.

In a doubleheader, the North Central University Rams took the diamond against the Franciscan University Barons. In a hitting frenzy that saw the Rams record 15 hits in game two of the doubleheader, the Rams earned head coach David Babcock's first win of his collegiate coaching career by splitting with the Barons by final scores of 0-9, and 24-9. "I just thank God that I get to coach these players that I have known and loved for the past few years and the new guys that have made this year so fun so far. Even if we hadn't won a game yet, I'm so grateful to have my dad and my uncle coaching with me. I hope that we have honored Jesus with how we have played this week. God allowing us to win today is just icing on the cake., said Babcock"

Penn State Behrend defeated Delaware Valley 10-5 on the fifth day of their spring break trip. The Behrend Lions never trailed, scoring in all but three innings for the win including batting around in the first.

Dickinson shrugged off a tough opener with Mount Union to claim a 7-6 win the nightcap after the Raiders took the opener, 19-0. In game one for Mount Union, Brian Livolsi went 3 for 4 with three RBI's to lead the Raiders. Dwayne Sumler went 2 for 3 with two RBI's, and Corey White went 2 for 3 with two RBI's as well. In game two, Brendan Pell singled and swiped a pair of bases before coming across on an error to give Dickinson a 7-0 advantage. The Raiders looked to rally with two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth, but the Red Devils would hold on for the win.

Geneva split a pair of games with Marywood down in Florida, with each team winning in walk-off fashion.  In the first game, Marywood pulled out a 10-9 victory, while Geneva won the second game, 5-4.  The Golden Tornadoes are now 4-5 on the season, while Marywood stands at 5-4. In a back-and-forth game, Marywood responded one last time to pick up the victory.  The Pacers pushed a run across in the bottom the sixth to tie the game, and then the Pacers scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to take the first game, 10-9. Petraglia was the key in the late game, as the freshman pitched a complete game, giving up eight hits and four runs, three earned, while striking out four. He was on the bench when his teammates rallied to give him the win in the final inning.

Andrew Manni pitched 7 scoreless innings while recording 6 strikeouts and giving up 5 hits helping the Lyons earn a 6-1 victory over Washington & Jefferson. Manni pitched 7 scoreless innings while strike out 6 batters. Brody Ashley went 4-for-4 with 2 RBIs, 1 run, and a walk.

Starting pitcher Max Olmsted flirted with a perfect game as Castleton earned a 7-4 road nonconference victory over The Apprentice School at the War Memorial Stadium. With the win today, the Spartans improve to 7-4 while the Builders, an NAIA school, fall to 13-6. Olmsted, who earned his second win of the season, pitched a gem as he did not allow a baserunner through seven innings of play. The junior from East Montpelier, Vt., ran into some trouble in the bottom half of the eighth inning but finished his day with six strikeouts.

Seven different players recorded at least two hits as Gettysburg (6-2) continued its hitting onslaught with 22 base hits in a 16-2 victory over Marymount (11-6). n two meetings with Marymount this season, Gettysburg recorded 28 runs and 41 hits. Thirteen of those base knocks went for extra bases. The Bullets logged a season-high 22 hits, which was the team's best total since whacking 25 against Hiram in 2016. The team also posted seven doubles on Thursday, marking the most two-baggers in a game since 2015. Gettysburg has recorded 13 or more hits in seven of eight games. The Bullets have posted 20 or more hits three times, which is the most 20-hit performances in a single-season since 2016.

Becker ended their Florida trip with a 4-4 tie against the Mount St. Joseph Lions, after they dropped game one 12-11 in Thursday RussMatt Invitational play. Mount St. Joseph won the game on a walk-off in the bottom of the seventh as they scored their third and game-winning run on a hit to left center from Jose Bustamante. The team scored the three runs on five back-to-back singles. After a scoreless top of the seventh, the Hawks had a chance to walk off with the victory, loading the bases with one out. But a strikeout looking and pop up to first base ended the scoring threat as the game was called a tie. The tie is the first in 11 seasons for the Hawks as a 0-0 game on April 1, 2009 against Lyndon State was also declared a tie. The Lions last tied on Feb. 28, 2014; a 2-2 draw against Alice Lloyd.

Washington College won their fourth straight contest in Florida as the Shoremen edged the Dominican (Ill.) Stars by a score of 9-8. Washington improved to 8-4 on the season while the Stars dropped to 4-6. Third baseman Joe Curtin went 2-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs to lead the offense and reliever Ryan Mostoller picked up his first win of the season on the mound.

In their final day of play in Florida, Gordon faced off in a
doubleheader against Colby-Sawyer. The Chargers left
with the narrow 5-4 win on the first game of the day while
the Scots evened out the day with the 5-3 win in the second.

Westminster (Pa.) continued their Russmatt Tournament schedule on Thursday, winning against Olivet by a score of 15-8. The Titans scored a season-high 15 runs in the contest and set a season-high with 18 hits. Sophomore Seth Schrader led the way with a career-high four hits, to go along with four RBI's and a pair of runs scored. Matt Costello followed with three hits and three RBI's.

Anna Maria split with Oneonta State. They dropped the first game and won the second against the nonconference opponent from New York. The Red Dragons put together to big innings in game one to come away with the victory. Their largest inning came in the third when they scored seven runs after a couple of AMCAT errors kept the inning alive.  The AMCATS in the nightcap got on the board first in the first inning when they scored on an error by the third basemen. Anna Maria extended their lead in the fourth and fifth innings when they plated two in the fourth and another four in the fifth for their scoring. Oneonta State scored their two run on a two run homer un by Johnathan Lezette in the fifth inning.

Defiance was back in action on Thursday in the 30th Annual Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic at the Lee County Player Development Complex against the SUNY Canton Roos. In a doubleheader, Defiance came up with two more victories by the scores of 10-3 and 6-0 to extend its winning streak to six games. The Yellow Jackets move to 6-2 overall while SUNY Canton falls to 0-7. Kestner was perfect at the plate for Defiance on the day, going 5-for-5 with two walks, three runs scored and three RBIs.

Penn State Berks split a doubleheader with Albertus Magnus on the final day of the Ripken Experience. Berks claimed the opener, 10-2, before falling 6-5 in the nightcap. In the win, the Nittany Lions plated four runs, highlighted by a bases clearing double by Mason Pennypacker. Berks tacked on two runs in the third inning, but the Falcons scored once in the fourth. Joey Gramignano had an RBI single and Tate Yergey smacked a two-run homer to go up 9-1. The Falcons scored in the sixth, but Pat Maloeny added an RBI single to make it 10-2.

RIT (3-5) defeated Husson 13-4, as part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational during their annual Spring trip to Florida. RIT's sophomore class led the day as Jack Leahy took the win for RIT on the mound after pitching 5 hitless innings and striking out 8 batters. Patrick Blackall continued his early-season tear by going 4-for-6 at the plate with 3 doubles and 3 RBI. Ian Libby added a pair of doubles and drove in 4 RBI.
