Gordon College traveled to Boston this morning to square up against the Wentworth Leopards for a Commonwealth Coast Conference battle where the Fighting Scots earned their first conference victories of the season (9-1 in game one, 2-1 in game two).

After over 1,000 days, Bowdoin returned to Pickard Field for intercollegiate competition and earned a pair of wins over visiting University of Maine-Farmington. The Polar Bears climb to 7-8 on the season after defeating the Beavers (0-11) 9-2 in the series opener and 9-6 in game two. Bowdoin had not played a home game in 1,067 days and retook the field with a 22 hit day. Jack Mullen earned the game one win, allowing seven hits with six strikeouts. Jason Bogdanos pitched five innings and allowed five hits with seven strikeouts in game two.

Swarthmore College earned a sweep over Washington
College (Md.) on Saturday afternoon as they returned
to Centennial Conference action after 1,069 days.
Game one went in favor of the Garnet, 11-8, while
the home team earned a victory in game two, 7-6, in
extra innings.

Catholic University opened the month of April with a win on Saturday, defeating Landmark Conference rivals Juniata, 11-7, at Talbot Field. With the win, the Cardinals (17-6, 4-0 LC) remain undefeated in conference play and have now won 15 of their last 17 games. Senior Peter Giombetti had another big day in the batter's box, blasting his team-high 10th home run of the season in the second inning. He is now just one shy of tying Catholic's single-season home run record of 11 (Brennan Cotter, 2018). Tucker Alch earned the victory, pushing him to 5-1 on the season. He allowed nine hits and seven runs, five earned, striking out seven in 7.1 innings of work.

Husson University completed a perfect three game homestand on Saturday afternoon as they defeated the University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls in a non-conference doubleheader at the Harold Alfond Diamond. Husson (6-10) won game one, 18-3, while winning game two, 20-0. The Eagles offense came out to play scoring the first eight runs of the contest highlighted by a three run double from junior Joshua Scott. UMPI (2-15) scored a run in the sixth, seventh, and eighth but the Eagles ended game one with nine runs in the eight inning to score the 15 run victory. The Eagles benefited by drawing a program record 19 walks. The Eagles were led by sophomore Jackson Curtis who drove in five runs on three hits while Scott and senior Ethan Stoddard each drove in three. Senior Kobe Rogerson drove in two hours while seniors Tyler Parke and Nick Swift as well as freshman Tanner Evans each drove in one. In game two, the Eagles continued to explode on offense as they scored in every inning but one for a 20-0 victory. The offense was powered by Swift and Evans who each drove in three runs while Curtis, Scott, and freshman Ty Knowlton each drove in two.

A huge offensive display Saturday afternoon powered Emory University to a doubleheader sweep over New York University at Maimonides Park in Brooklyn, NY. The Eagles combined to score 33 runs across the two games to defeat the Violets by scores of 9-2 and 24-8. With the sweep, Emory now sits 16-12 (3-4 UAA) on the season with NYU dipping to 14-3 (4-3 UAA). Senior Robby Wacker and sophomore Tyler McLoughlin shouldered the load as the duo combined to drive in 15 of the runs. Wacker went 5-for-10 with a double, home run and eight RBI in the two games whereas McLoughlin finished 6-for-9 with seven RBI and smashed three home runs on the day.

Allegheny kicked off North Coast Athletic Conference play with a pair of decisive victories at Wabash, taking game one 8-3 before earning a run-rule win in game two by an 11-0 count. The Gators earned the victory in game one thanks to a seven-run outburst combined between the fourth and fifth innings that broke open a 1-1 game. Tyson Bryant-Dawson and Cartwright both had multi-hit showings, with Brayden Cartwright driving in three runs and Brady Nolin adding a pair of RBIs. Conor Deasy earned the win, his fifth straight in the last five decisions to move to 5-1 on the year. He scattered eight hits and two earned runs, while striking out eight and walking just one. The Gators started game two in a similar manner to the mid-innings of the opener. Jacob Budnar, Jake Stotsky and Seth Reisman all had multi-hit efforts in the night cap victory, which was concluded after seven innings due to the NCAC's run-rule. Daniel Morgano improved to 4-2 on the year with his second shutout. The junior allowed just three hits and struck out two in 7.0 innings.

After rallying to win game one 6-4, the New England College offense came alive in game two, as they routed Lesley 20-5, to complete the sweep of their New England Collegiate Conference foe Saturday afternoon at Laurie Cox Memorial Field. Alex Perez went 6.1 innings, as he allowed four hits and three earned runs while striking out ten in game one. Shayne Audet picked up the game two win for the Pilgrims, as he struck out eight in 5.0 innings and allowed just two base runners. The last time NEC plated 20 runs in a game was on April 24, 2021, as they plated 28 runs against Lesley. NEC leads the all-time series, 13-6.

It took a five-run rally in the ninth inning of game one, but Roger Williams University picked up their sixth and seventh consecutive wins with a doubleheader sweep of Suffolk University at East Boston Memorial Park on Saturday afternoon. Down to their 27th out in the first game, the Hawks rallied to win 9-5 before they lead from wire-to-wire and pulled away late to take game two, 8-3.

Case Western Reserve University split a University Athletic Association doubleheader with Brandeis University on Saturday at Nobby's Ballpark in Cleveland, Ohio, taking the first game 7-2 but falling 2-1 in the second game. The Spartans are 11-11 on the season and 5-2 in conference play, while the Judges are 10-4 overall and 1-2 in the UAA. Case Western Reserve is in first place in the conference standings, holding a one game lead over New York University. Graduate student starting pitcher Evan Faxon turned in his third double-digit strikeout performance of the season in the first game, registering 10 strikeouts while allowing just one run on four hits in six innings. Senior outfielder Cole Jarrett had a pair of two-for-four games at the plate, scoring once in each contest.

Adrian College completed its series with Calvin University on Saturday splitting an afternoon doubleheader with the Knights. After taking game one of the series on Friday afternoon, the Bulldogs opened the day with a seven inning 13-0 victory. The Bulldogs scored nine runs in the third inning to lead their way to victory. Calvin bounced back in the second game of the day to avoid the sweep and defeated Adrian 6-3. Ryan Davis finished game one 3-for-3 with four RBIs while Dan Goodes went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Michael Swanson got the start for Adrian where he improved to 2-0 on the season after throwing seven strong innings allowing just one hit on six strikeouts to pick up a complete game shutout. Game two of the day went all nine innings with the Knights bouncing back to take home the win.

The University of Rochester pushed its winning streak to five games following a Liberty League doubleheader sweep over Vassar College on Saturday afternoon at Towers Field. Rochester (15-4, 5-0 Liberty League) won game one 7-4 before earning a 6-3 victory in the nightcap against the Brewers (7-11, 1-4 Liberty League). The Yellowjackets remain the lone unbeaten team in Liberty League play. UR displayed a strong effort in all aspects of the game on Saturday, including pitching, small ball, power bats and solid defense. In game one, Rochester starter Nolan Sparks was perfect through the first four innings, setting the Vassar order down 1-2-3 in each frame. The sophomore right hander got tagged for a single run in the fifth and two in the eighth, but finished the game allowing just three hits with eight strikeouts over seven plus innings. Game two's seven-inning affair was a bit more tightly contested, with each team scoring a single run in two of the first four innings. A big three-run fifth broke the game open for Rochester and the teams traded single runs in the sixth to reach the 6-3 final score.

Following a 3-0 game one loss, the St. Joseph's
College (Brooklyn) battled back to split their Saturday
series against Maritime College winning 4-2 in game
two behind a three-hit effort from Abner Victor and
seven strong innings from Andrew Monda . The win
snapped a seven-game skid and was the first Skyline
Conference win of the early league season.

St. Joseph's College (L.I.) claimed its third Skyline Conference sweep with 5-0 and 14-9 wins over Mt. St. Mary College at Gregg Alfano Field on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles improve to 7-4 on the season and remain unbeaten in Skyline action at 6-0. The Knights even out at 8-8 overall, 4-2 Skyline. SJC's Kevin Czeczotka (W, 2-0) tossed his second consecutive complete game limiting the Knights to just two hits while striking out seven. SJC's Michael Manzolillo (W, 1-0) had a strong showing out of the pen scattering eight hits and allowing just two runs.

Stevenson (6-18-1, 1-1 MAC) split the MAC Commonwealth Conference opener against Alvernia (8-14-1, 2-1 MAC) Saturday afternoon at Sugar Field, winning the opener 6-2 and dropping the nightcap 13-4. Senior Matt Reich pitched a complete game for the Mustangs giving up only two runs on three hits with seven strikeouts. Reich dominated on the mound, retiring the first 15 batters he faced and carried a perfect game into the sixth. Trevor Smoot went 4-4 at the plate with two RBIs and two doubles in the first 9-inning ballgame. Alvernia cracked game two open, posting a six-run fifth inning. A sacrifice fly from Lucas Floyd gave the Golden Wolves the lead before an RBI. The lead was stretched to 5-2 in favor of the visitors when Brandon Smith doubled to plate two RBIs. Mike Ramundo notched three BRIs on a homer to left to give the Golden Wolves an 8-2 lead at the halfway point of the ballgame.

Keystone College enjoyed a doubleheader sweep, 15-4 and 16-1, at first-year program Rosemont College in CSAC action on Saturday afternoon at Heuser Park. The Giants plated four in the second and six in the seventh, outhitting the Ravens 13-7 in the opener. JD Barrett and RJ Gouldsbury both drove in four runs each while Bobby Pokorney enjoyed a 2-for-3 game with three RBI and five runs scored at the leadoff spot. Keystone tallied a five-run top of the first and put up crooked numbers in the fifth and eighth innings, again outhitting the Ravens 17-7 in the nightcap. RJ Gouldsbury had another solid outing, collecting three RBI, including a solo blast in the seventh, his fifth long ball of the season.

A five-run first inning helped Oglethorpe pick up the win in game one, but a three-run first by Millsaps in game two evened the series in a Saturday afternoon Southern Athletic Association doubleheader at Hermance Stadium. Oglethorpe won game one 9-5 but fell in game two 6-3. Colby James and Jake Hill were sharp in the opener of the series. James took the win while Hill earned the save, both firsts of the season, after the pair combined for only three earned runs over nine innings. Oglethorpe trailed 5-0 in game two before staging a rally attempt in the fifth that cut the deficit in half. Jonathon Cruz drove home the first run with a double and Sam Mills and Cruz also scored on productive at-bats from Carson Weir and Shota Barbeau, but the Petrels never got any closer than 5-3.

Two-for-two on the diamond field went the Lehman College as it swept a CUNYAC twin-bill from visiting CCNY, by scores of 15-5 and 11-9, respectively, on Saturday at South Field. The Lightning improve to 5-3 overall record and 3-1 in CUNYAC, while the Beavers drop to 2-13 overall and 0-4 in conference play. Lehman's offense exploded in the opener as it scored multiple runs each of the first four innings to take a 15-3 lead, also behind strong pitching by Randy Polanco who held CCNY to just four hits. After consecutive scoreless innings by both sides, Beavers got two more runs in the top of the seventh to cut the deficit, however Chris Delgado closed the door on the mound for any possible comeback by the visitors for the Lightning 15-5 victory. In the nightcap, CCNY had a 4-1 advantage going into the bottom of fourth inning, before Lehman's offense sparked again putting in six runs to reclaim the lead (7-4). After the Beavers once again rallied to cut the deficit to a single run (7-6) by the bottom of the sixth, the Lightning scored four more times to increase their lead (11-4). CCNY continued to cut the deficit by adding three more runs in the top of seventh (11-9), however, Ranssel Pinedo came in relief with two outs and got the last batter to earn save of the season.

DePauw opened North Coast Athletic Conference play at Wooster and split a doubleheader with the Fighting Scots with a 12-4 win in the opener and a 13-6 defeat in the second. The Tigers are now 8-10 and Wooster is 9-6. Evan Barnes had three of DePauw's 14 hits. Michael Vallone improved to 5-0 after striking out seven in the first five innings and Joe Runnells collected his first save by pitching four innings of hitless relief. Mitchell Reardon dropped to 2-3 with the loss. In the nightcap, the Fighting Scots grabbed a 5-4 lead in the third as Chumita hit a three-run homer before Nick Pett scored on a wild pitch and Dominic Stilliana came home when Alex Gasper singled. Wooster added three more in the sixth as Michael Thomas tripled home Jack Henderson and scored on Ben Hines' single. Chumita's single later in the frame plated Hines to make it 8-4. Chumita's three-run homer in the eighth and Henderson's two-run single in the inning pushed the lead to 13-4 before Macon rounded out the scoring with a two-run shot in the DePauw ninth.

Offensive fireworks and a record-setting day for Joe Olsavsky powered John Carroll to two come from behind victories, 14-13 and 12-10, respectfully, over Wilmington at Austintown Fitch High School's Coppola Field to gain some steam in OAC play. The sophomore shortstop Olsavsky had a walk-off two RBI double to win game one, and set single game program marks in home runs (3), hits (5), and total bases (15) while also tying the RBI record with six in game two. "There were two great team wins today," Olsavsky said. "We battled back all day and didn't give into anything. We've battled adversity all year and this was the definition of bouncing back no matter what the situation is and that will be the story of our season."

Mount Union split a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference games at Ohio Northern – winning the opener 8-5 and falling in the nightcap 10-8 – Saturday at Wander Field in Ada. The split still leaves the Purple Raiders at the top of the conference standings at 12-7 overall and 3-1 in the OAC, while Northern is 9-10 overall and 2-2 in the OAC. In the 8-5 win in game one, Eric Schilling drove in four runs on 3-for-5 hitting, Colman Stauffer drove in two runs and Walker Marlowe drove in a run as the Raiders out-hit Northern 13-9 and took advantage of four errors. In game two, Northern used five different pitchers to hold Mount Union to just six hits in a 10-8 Polar Bear win.

It was a tale of two games for the George Fox in their
home Saturday doubleheader against Whitman; the
Bruins dominated in a 9-1 game one victory but fell
to the Blues, 3-14, in game two.

Otto Franz turned in a complete-game performance on the mound, leading Concordia Texas to a win in the first match of the day, and they split the doubleheader with LeTourneau on Saturday. In the first game of the day, Franz's dominant performance kept the Tornados in the game long enough to break through for a four-run sixth inning and seal the win. Franz scattered five hits and allowed only one run, striking out five along the way to his second win of the year. After winning the opening game 6-1, the Tornados could not come away victorious in the decisive series finale, dropping game three 7-6 and losing the series.

Penn State Abington split an United East Conference doubleheader against visiting Penn State Berks on Saturday afternoon at Alverthorpe Park. Berks took the opener by the score of 7-3 before Abington closed out the three-game series with a 14-4 victory in the night cap. After falling behind 2-0 in the top half of the first, Abington came back with three runs of its own to lead 3-2 after one full inning. Senior Zach Morales highlighted the inning with a three-run homer to left-center field. Berks regained the lead in the top half of the fourth with four runs to take a 6-3 advantage. Colin Templin and Nate Trovinger each had run scoring hits in the inning. Berks tacked on another run in the seventh with a run scoring hit by Logan Ewert. In game two, the Abington offense came to life early on with three runs in the first inning and blew the game open with a five-run third inning. Abington capped the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the eight. Petrucelli drove in a run with a sacrifice fly before freshman Anthony Bencardino launched a two-run homer over the right field fence for his fourth home run of the season.

Graduate student Chris Grome struck out a career-high 13 batters to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to a split of its Liberty League doubleheader with Bard College on Saturday afternoon at Robison Field at Karl Steffen Ballpark. The Engineers, who won the opener 16-1 and lost the nightcap, 9-5, are now 8-10 overall, while the Raptors move to 7-9 (2-4 Liberty League). Grome (3-0) allowed just one run on three hits over 8.0 innings, throwing 108 pitches. He surpassed his previous strikeout high of 11, which he established last month, punching out five of the last six batters he faced.

Saint John (Minn.) opened its conference schedule with a doubleheader sweep of Concordia-Moorhead, 9-8 in eight innings and 6-0, on Saturday in Collegeville. The Johnnies (10-10, 2-0 MIAC) clubbed nine extra-base hits, including three home runs, on the afternoon and held the Cobbers (5-6, 0-2 MIAC) scoreless in the day's final 10 innings. Junior lefty Casey Trapp struck out a career-high 13 batters in game two's complete-game shutout. The 13 strikeouts were the most by a Johnnie since another southpaw, Michael Crees '09, struck out 13 against Bethany Lutheran on April 24, 2006, in Collegeville.

The Rhodes Lynx continued their win streak on Saturday, claiming a pair of games in walkoff fashion against the Sewanee Tigers. They took game one 4-3 thanks to a Dante Messina single, and game two 5-4 on a John McNair home run. The Lynx, winners of eight straight, now stand at 17-10-1 on the year, with a 8-3 mark in the SAA. Tied in the ninth, the table was set for a dramatic finish. Sewanee's Logan Martin was replaced by a reliever after striking out twelve, but running his pitch count above 130. The first pitch from Holden Shell plunked Heurtin, putting the tying run on board. John McNair followed with a single to put runners on the corners with no one out. An intentional walk to imbrough loaded the bases for Messina, who laced the first pitch he saw into left field for walkoff RBI single. The Lynx wanted more drama and got in in game two. A scoreless sixth from Rhodes, followed by two more Ks and a donut from Noah Roland set the stage once more for an exciting finish. With one out, Dante Messina laced a double to the right-center gap. On the very next pitch, McNair absolutely nuked a moonshot over the right field fence for the 5-4 win. It was McNair's second walkoff dinger in the past seven days.

Junior starting pitcher Jarrett Orbin delivered another strong performance on Saturday afternoon, helping Geneva split with Thiel in a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader. The Golden Tornadoes won the first game 5-2, while the Tomcats took game two 11-8. Geneva's record is now 6-14 overall, 2-5 in the PAC. Orbin pitched 6.0 inning while giving up just three hits and one run, moving his record to 2-1 on the season. Sophomore Jackson Hall led the offense with a perfect 3-for-3 effort, scoring two runs. The Geneva offense came to life in the bottom of the seventh again the Tomcat bullpen as eight of the first nine batters reached base, pulling Geneva within 10-7. Unfortunately, that was as close as Geneva would get. Thiel added a run in the eighth, and despite a two-out rally in the ninth that plated one runner, Geneva lost game two 11-8.

Wilkes used a Zack Luksic walk off hit in game one and held off a FDU-Florham rally in game two to sweep a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Bruggeworth Field. Wilkes won game one 4-3 and game two 7-6. With one out in the bottom of the seventh Brandon Reno singled to right field. Stone Wormuth worked a walk to move Reno into scoring position and set up the heroics for Luksic. He knocked a single to left field to bring in Reno and give the Colonels their first MAC Freedom win of the season by a 4-3 score. Gage Coudriet (3-0) earned the game two win as he started and went four innings, allowing three runs on five hits with two walks and a strikeout. Todd Kolbicka then pitched 2.2 innings, allowing three runs on two hits and two walks with a strikeout. Reno was 3-for-3 while Peyton Schuck was 2-for-3 with four RBI's.

Montclair State held off rallies by Rutgers-Newark in each game as the Red Hawks swept the Scarlet Raiders in the NJAC opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon. The Scarlet Raiders (10-7, 1-1 NJAC) pulled within 5-4 in the seventh inning on a walk and hit by pitch with the bases loaded. Rutgers-Newark threatened for more, however reliever Jach Haveson got a pop up to end the inning. Haveson would get out of another jam in the eighth unscathed, but he allowed a one out double in the ninth putting the tying run in scoring position. The righty would bear down and retire the next two batters to end the game. In the second contest, Rutgers-Newark grabbed a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first before the Red Hawks turned that into a 5-3 lead in the fifth with three runs. In the ninth, pinch-hitter Max McLoughlin led off with a single and stole second. Reece Malek was hit by a pitch putting runners at first and second. Guarino then laid down a bunt that was thrown away allowing McLoughlin and Malek to score and suddenly the Red Hawks led 9-8. Rutgers-Newark would not go quietly in the ninth as the leadoff hitter reached on a base hit and was sacrificed to second. Another hit moved the tying run to third and the winning run at first. Lefthander Ethan Gonzalez, who entered in the ninth inning came up with a huge strikeout for the second out before closing out the game with a liner to right field for the final out.

Chris Watson drove in four runs on the day to lead the St. Lawrence offense and Jack Sylvia was dominant in a game two win as the Saints battled to a split with Ithaca College in a Saturday twin bill at Tom Fay Field. In game one, C. Watson drove in his first two runs of the day in an attempted late comeback, then in the second contest the second baseman drove in the first two runs in a six-run second inning for the Saints. Nicholas Butler put the finishing touches on said inning with a tape measure three-run home run to balloon the lead to 6-0 early. Sylvia saw his record go to 2-2 with a win in game two as the junior pitcher pitched into the seventh giving up six hits, two runs, and striking out four. "We were able to split with a tough team today," said head coach Kenny Collins "It was good to see our guys respond to getting shut down in game one of the day. We need to clean up some details and come out with some more focus tomorrow."

Trine University outlasted Olivet College in their home and Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener on Jannen Field on Saturday in a doubleheader. The Thunder (7-10, 2-0 MIAA) took the first game 3-0 and won 13-3 in seven innings on the backend of the twinbill against the Comets (5-11, 0-2 MIAA). After a scoreless sixth, Jeff Ballard emerged from the Trine bullpen to hold the game. A harmless walk would be the only Comet hitter to reach in his two innings of work. Noah Brettin notched his third save of the 2022 campaign with two groundouts and a flyout to secure the 3-0 victory. Tyler Robinson was 2-for-3 in the opening game with a walk and a run scored. Fulford and Warner each had one RBI. Josh Hogewerf received the win (1-2) with six shutout innings where he surrendered just three hits. Bryce Bloode got the game two win (1-4) with five innings of work with two earned runs coming across to score. Robert Kortas pitched the sixth and seventh innings, where he kept Olivet hitless. Trine had 16 hits in total, with Brenden Warner, Gary DeMartino and Jackson O'Keefe leading the way at three each. DeMartino drove in four, and the leadoff man Robinson was plated four times in the game.

NC Wesleyan College used a record day from sophomore starter Danny Thompson as they swept a conference road doubleheader from Averett University on Saturday. Wesleyan used their offense to roll in game one to an 11-6 victory before the Bishops outlasted the Cougars 5-3 in 11 innings in game two as Thompson threw all 11 innings recording out a modern school record of 17 strikeouts. It is the most Ks in a game for a Bishop since TJ Wilkie struck out 15 in 2016. The USA South record is 20 strikeouts in a game set in 1993. In the top of the 11th of the nightcap, Wesleyan scored the go ahead runs via a Jaiden Barker RBI single and Alex Moskal sacrifice fly that scored outfielders Zach Lyon and Drifton Padgett, respectively. Bass led the Bishops with the only multi-hit game.
