In Cabrini's 2024 season-opener, the Cavaliers defeated the Defenders of Clarks Summit 8-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers employed six pitchers in their combined nine-inning shutout, allowing just three hits on the day. Jason Gilman struck out a career-high 14 as Kean picked up the win in their season opener by the final of 8-5 over St. Joseph's University Long Island on Saturday afternoon. Gilman cruised in all but one frame of his seven inning appearance. In the third frame he allowed two hits to start the inning, but then retired the next three batters via strikeout to end the threat. Kyle Adorno led the offense with a 3-for-5 day along with a run scored and RBI. Adorno also made a layout catch in the gap in the top of the sixth inning, taking away an extra base hit. Trevor Coltenback, Gianni Marano and Brett Hilsheimer all finished with two hits, a run scored and an RBI each.
In one of the wildest ninth inning comebacks in recent memory, N.C. Wesleyan defeated Bridgewater 9-8 in extra innings. Trailing by three runs with two outs in the bottom of the 9th, Tyson Bass started the hit parade with a line drive to left that rocketed off the Bauer Field sign in left. Alex Moskel would step up right behind him and deliver a rope down the left field line to set up an RBI single from Isaiah Thomas who had two monster RBI knocks coming off the bench. In the 10th, Maison Nance would get hit by a fastball to lead off the inning which led two a two-strike sac-bunt by Kam Walker in an extremely crucial situation. A Jackson Ellyson single to right would leave the game in the hands of Bass who already had three RBI's and three runs scored on the day. Ahead in the count, Bass capitalized on a pitch over the heart of the plate to walk it off in dramatic fashion up the middle.
Alma played game three of the three-game series against Covenant College on Saturday on their opening weekend trip. Alma got the bats going early and often in the morning series finale and came out on top by a final score of 11-6. The maroon and cream would score the first runs of the game building a 5-1 through five. Covenant came to life and tallied four runs in the inning, bringing the current score to 5-4, in favor of Alma. The next inning, looking for insurance runs for their pitching staff, Alma did just that driving their margin to 10-4. Dalton D'Alexadner again led the Scots in the RBI department with three on the day followed by Colin Czajkowski and Mac Hawley. On the mound, Zac Olesuk got the nod for the start and pitched four innings while collecting three strikeouts. Cole Grunwald came in as relief and recorded two strikeouts before Warren came in for the ninth and completed the Scots win.
Berry began their 2024 campaign with a series against the Eagles of Emory, where they capped off the series win with a 4-3 victory. Two Vikings home runs stunned the Eagles in today's win after tough fought games A solo home run by Alex Knapp gave the Vikings a run and Charles Pulaski provided the winning margin a three-run homer, his first collegiate home run in the seventh.
In the earliest game played in school history, No. 3 Baldwin Wallace defeated Washington and Jefferson by a final score of 5-4 on Fisher Field. BW (1-0) scored five runs on eight hits as it plated two runs in the first and second and one in the fourth. Mary Washington (2-0) rolled through Mt. St. Mary's College (N.Y.) with a pair of victories over the Knights on Saturday afternoon in Fredericksburg, Va. The Eagles took home the victory in the first game with a mercy-rule, seven-inning win, 18-7. Then they played a much more contested game in the back-half of Saturday's doubleheader, 5-2. Eight Eagles recorded a multi-hit game in Game 1 as the offense flexed their muscles. In Game 2, the Eagles offense got quiet, but strong pitching backed the timely offense.
St. Thomas (Tex.) delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, as they secured a convincing 12-2 victory over Ozarks (Ark.) in an away game at David Ross Field in Clarksville, Ark. St. Thomas' pitching staff delivered a solid performance, with Luke Sebesta earning the win after four innings of work, supported by solid relief appearances from Sebastian Soliz and Nick Alumai. On the offensive side, St. Thomas showcased their firepower with a total of 12 hits, including home runs from Dillon McKee and Israel Fields, who finished the game with a remarkable five RBIs.

Redlands (2-1) split their doubleheader with McMurry on Saturday with a 9-2 loss and a 6-4 win as they won the series after taking game one on Friday. In the second game Nathan Buchan came up with a big start as he threw seven two-run innings with eight strikeouts on only 90 pitches. Miles Lu ended the final two innings with two strikeouts as he got his first career saves.
\The Shenandoah Hornets kicked off the 2024 campaign with a doubleheader sweep of the Widener Pride. In game one, the Hornets jumped out all over the visiting squad and took game one by a score of 19-6 behind a gem from Jacob Bell. In game two, the Pride had a 4-0 lead through 4.5 innings, but then the Hornet bats came to life when Jaimie Padilla picked up his first hit in a Hornet uniform with a bases-clearing, game-tying, double. Haden Madagan gave the Hornets the lead when his single drove home Padilla. Shenandoah picked up the win in game two 16-5, giving Joey Mitchell his first win in a Hornet uniform.
Brevard (3-0) swept the season-opening series with a 10-6 victory over visiting Averett (0-3) on Saturday afternoon at Gil Coan Field. Freshman starting pitcher Blake Altschuler (1-0) was superb in his collegiate debut, allowing two runs on two hits, while striking out six batters en route to the victory. The native of Concord, North Carolina held the Cougars hitless for the first 2.1 innings and recorded 1-2-3 innings in three of the five frames he pitched. Offensively, Brevard delivered with ten runs on 11 hits. Junior third baseman Frankie Vasquez hit the first home run of the year by a Tornado as part of a two-hit, four-RBI performance with a stolen base and a sacrifice fly. Shortstop Luke Martin went 4-for-5 with two doubles, three runs, two RBI and a stolen base First baseman Cale Oehler went 2-for-5 with a doubles, three RBI and a run scored.
In the final game of the Mike Gardner Classic, the Concordia Texas Torrnados walked off a 6-5 win over the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs. Mason Vasquez brought in two runs & Matthews Armes tallied the walk-off bunt RBI at Gardner-Boggs Field on Saturday. With runners in scoring position, the Torandos responded with a two-RBI double to the wall by Vasquez to score Julian Swift & Chris Morrow. The Bulldogs knotted the game at 4-all in the top of the eighth and scored the go-ahead run in the ninth.Down to their final two outs, the Tornados loaded the bases then tied the game when Vasquez scored on a wild pitch. Armes then stepped to the plate and beautifully laid down a bunt squeeze to score Daniel Bojorquez for the win. Earlier in the day, Texas Lutheran pitchers combined for their second consecutive shutout of the season to lead TLU to a 5-0 victory over Hardin-Simmons.
