In one of the most highly-anticipated matchups of the regular season, fifth-ranked Salisbury relied on strong pitching and a big fifth inning to take down the third-ranked Shenandoah Hornets, 4-2, on Friday afternoon at Donnie Williams Sea Gull Baseball Stadium. Danny Sheeler then plated the go-ahead run with a sac fly, and Dom Frigiola tagged an RBI single to left to put Salisbury ahead 4-2. Shenandoah threatened in the sixth, putting two men on with two out, but Garrett Beaver came in from the bullpen to induce a weak groundout to short to end the threat. The Hornets put two more on with back-to-back walks in the top of the ninth, but Beaver held the line again, forcing Frankie Ritter to ground into the game-ending out at short. The win snaps a three-game Salisbury losing streak against Shenandoah dating back to April 2021.
