Senior Tyler Cannon slugged two home runs, one which was the 200th hit of his career, to lead #19 Rowan past Immaculata, 9-5, in non-conference action this afternoon. The Profs are now 21-10 (7-7 NJAC) heading into the final four regular-season games. Cannon went 2-for-4, scoring three runs and driving in four. He hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to give Rowan a 6-0 lead. That would be the milestone hit, the 200th in his three seasons with the Prof. He duplicated the effort in the sixth, with another two-run home run. Junior Bere Bauers allowed one hit in seven innings and fanned a career-high 10 while junior Sam Slevin tied a program record with his eighth save as 18th-ranked Randolph-Macon recorded a 6-3 ODAC win at Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon to clinch the ODAC regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. Under head coach Ray Hedrick, RMC is 16-4 in ODAC play and three games ahead of second-place Roanoke with two games to play after the Maroons suffered an 8-7 loss at Guilford. The Yellow Jackets have won six ODAC regular season crowns and four of the past six (2018, 2019, 2021, 2024). Slevin gave up one hit over his two innings of work with one strikeout. He tied Glen McLaughlin (2014) and Will Jennings (2013) for the program record of eight saves in a season.
No. 1 nationally ranked Endicott defeated Gordon, 10-0 in seven innings, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon at North Field. Already leading by 2-0 in the fourth, Brendan O'Neil doubled Endicott's lead with a two-run double down the right field line, plating Dylan Pacheco and Nicolas Notarangelo. The game remained 4-0 for the next few innings, as Cannata continued to cruise through the Fighting Scots' lineup. He limited them to just five baserunners (2 HBP, 2 H, 1 BB) in his seven dominant innings from the hill. In the bottom of the seventh, the Blue and Green worked a six-run rally to walk off the contest via the 10-run mercy rule. Pacheco led off the eventful frame with a walk and advanced to second on Notarangelo's single. After Danny MacDougall reached base via a free pass, Pacheco was sent home due to a balk called on the Gordon pitcher. Notarangelo then wound up scoring on a wild pitch. The Blue and Green continued to pour it on in the frame, as TJ Liponis drilled an RBI double to right to score MacDougall. After Elijah Moses drove in the eighth Gulls run of the day with an RBI hit-by-pitch, Joey Frammartino concluded the rally with a two-run single to right-center, walking it off for the Gulls via a 10-0 score.
A five-run ninth inning erased a four-run deficit and LeTourneau completed a comeback win, 5-4, at Millsaps on Tuesday afternoon in Jackson. LeTourneau (15-22) trailed 7-3 entering the ninth inning, but scored five times to earn the comeback victory. The YellowJackets had just two hits in the big inning, but made the most of their opportunities. Jaggar Vaughn walked to open the frame and advanced to third on consecutive wild pitches before Kevin Soto plated him on an infield single to make it 7-4. An Ethan Wood walk followed by a hit-by-pitch to Blake Vice loaded the bases for the YellowJackets. Another wild pitch scored Soto and pinch-hitter Devin Greaff produced an RBI infield single to draw LeTourneau within 7-6. Consecutive sacrifice flies from Zach Zarko and Dane Jones capped the five-run frame. Dylan Cortes notched his second save of the year with a perfect ninth inning as he struck out all three Millsaps hitters.
Senior Jack Heineman tallied his 100th career hit as part of a three-hit day and The University of Scranton (23-8) notched a 12-6 victory over the William Paterson Pioneers (9-25) in non-conference action on Tuesday at Volpe Field in Scranton. This marks the third straight year that the Royals have defeated the Pioneers. Sophomore Ryan Boyd gave up three runs on four hits to go along with a walk and a career-high six strikeouts over a career-long 5.0 IP to earn the win for Scranton. Boyd's six strikeouts surpassed his previous career-high of four that had been set against Dickinson on Mar. 5, 2023. William Paterson got three back in the eighth to draw within six at 12-6, but was unable to get any closer as junior righty Jimmy Murray struck out a pair over 1 2/3 IP of scoreless relief for the Royals.
Cortland scored all 12 of its runs between the sixth and seventh innings - sending 10 batters to the plate each inning - to erase a three-run deficit and the Red Dragons defeated St. Lawrence, 12-5, in non-league action at Wallace Field. Cortland (22-9-1) finished with 13 hits and six walks. Nolan Smith went 3-for-4 with a walk and RBI, Mitchell Kelly was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Mat Bruno and Nick Plue each finished 2-for-4, with Bruno also drawing a walk and driving in a run. Zach Taro hit his first collegiate homer - a pinch-hit, three-run shot in a five-run seventh inning. Tommy Lynch, now 3-0, earned the win after allowing two hits and no walks and striking out four in four scoreless innings after entering in the top of the fourth with Cortland trailing 3-0. Ryan Banks started and allowed three runs, two earned, on two hits with six strikeouts and two walks in three innings.
No. 22 Penn State Harrisburg secured its eighth straight win in impressive fashion, cruising to a 14-0 shutout victory at Susquehanna on Tuesday afternoon. As a group, Penn State Harrisburg pitchers allowed just one hit on the day, led by Aidan Bergholc's stellar start that saw him throw six scoreless innings with a career-high 10 strikeouts. At the plate, Carlos Irizarry, Brendan Henn, Blaine Waltimyer, and Bill Zentmayer all had three-hit games. The Lions (27-7) jumped all over Susquehanna (16-18) in the top of the first, scoring three runs on four hits to begin the game. That was all that was needed but the Lions added a capper to the win. After a pair of scoreless innings in the sixth and seventh frames, the Lions roared back to life with four innings in the eighth and three more in the ninth for good measure before Sam Thompson racked up three strikeouts in the bottom of the ninth to wrap up the dominant win.
St. Olaf College picked up its first sweep of Gustavus Adolphus College in 10 years with 1-0 and 9-7 victories over the Gusties on Tuesday afternoon at Mark Almli Field. St. Olaf (22-9, 12-1 MIAC) equaled its best 13-game start to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play in program history with the two wins against Gustavus (15-14, 7-7 MIAC), while sweeping the Gusties for the first time since April 15, 2014. The Oles also recorded 12 wins in their first 13 MIAC contests in 1984, 1990, 1997, and 2007. First year Cole Pleimann's second-inning home run accounted for all of the scoring in game one, as seniors Sam Lavin and Brock Brumley combined for a three-hit shutout. St. Olaf went on to complete the sweep by holding off the Gusties after the visitors cut a 7-2 deficit to 8-7 in the eighth inning.
Trailing 9-6 entering the ninth inning, Catholic scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth to earn a massive 10-9 comeback victory in non-conference play. Jesse Lacefield played the role of hero with a two-run single to send the Cardinal faithful home happy with the 25th win of the season. The Cardinals continue to show their resolve and prove to be a relentless bunch as they earn yet another come-from-behind victory to leave Ross Natoli just two wins shy of win number 800. Tuesday marks the fifth time this season that Catholic trailed in the seventh inning and came away victorious. Trailing 7-0 entering the bottom of the fourth, Catholic started to come to life with a pair of runs. On the second pitch of the at-bat, Lacefield lined a ball down the right field line, scoring Perlin and Justin McCarthy who pinch ran for Burton to start the celebration on Talbot Field. Offensively, Catholic tallied 13 hits with Thomas completing his fifth three-hit game of the season to raise his batting average to .364. Burton, Burman, Elwell, and Perlin all had two hits for the Cardinals while Johnson and Lacefield each drove in three runs. Burton moved into a tie for eighth in the Division III era for Catholic with 29 walks in a season.
Illinois Wesleyan University used a complete-game combined shutout from sophomore Cole Shamhart (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) and senior Jacob Cyrus to blank Carthage College, 4-0, at Horenberger Field Tuesday evening. The duo combined for 17 strikeouts as IWU improved to 22-9 on the year and 11-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. Carthage saw its record dive to 20-10 overall, 8-6 in league play. Shamhart threw the first six innings, striking out a career-high 12, while Cyrus tallied five strikeouts while pitching the final three innings. The combined 17 Ks are tied for third-most in program history and are the most by IWU's pitching staff since fanning 17 against North Central April 18, 2014. With the win, Shamhart bumped his record to 8-0 on the year, while Cyrus collected his second save of the season.
Plattsburgh State split their State University of New York Athletic Conference doubleheader on Tuesday with Oswego State, winning 9-4 and dropping the nightcap 7-5. Senior Tyler Kohn tossed seven innings, giving up just two earned runs in the best outing of his collegiate career, while Alex Kornblau belted the 12th homer of his career in game two for a new program record. Kohn, who had just 18.2 innings pitched in his career coming into the games today, was outstanding, limiting a potent Oswego offense to just two earned runs while striking out six batters for his first collegiate win. Kornblau finished the day with two hits, but his final at-bat was the most noteworthy as it elevated him to the program's new home run king, as his 12th career blast passed Pat Shaughnessy '12 who held the record for over a decade. The Cardinal senior also tied the program record for homers in a season, as his sixth blast matched Dave Waldron (2005), Joe Curcio (2009), and Pat Shaughnessy (2012) who each hit six homers in one season.
Visiting University of Southern Maine hit three first-inning home runs to snag an early lead and never look back in a 15-1 win over Plymouth State University in Little East Conference action at Robbie Mills Field on Tuesday night. The Huskies went back-to-back to open the game and a three-run shot later in the frame extended the early lead, raced out to a 6-0 lead in the first.. Plymouth State was unable to string together hits until junior Cole Johnston poked a bases-loaded single to right in the sixth for PSU’s lone run, but a strikeout ended the threat and the Panthers were unable to extend the game.
The Bob Jones University Bruins survived a late run by Brevard College to finish on top 9-8 from Conestee Park. With today's home win, the Bruins have improved to 9-24 on the season. "I'm happy we pulled it out today," said Zay Brandt. "We stayed together as a team and fought to the end. I'm happy we got the dub." The Bruins came into today's game after a 2-1 series win over region opponent Trinity Baptist College over the weekend. Today's game marked the fourth meeting between the two teams. After today's win, the Bruins have evened the series at two wins apiece. Bob Jones looked for insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth, but the Tornados got out of that inning as they went into the final inning. Noah Weaver entered the game on the mound for Bob Jones and hoped for three quick outs to end the game. The Tornados had other plans and scored twice to get within one. Sam Gonzalez caught the final out of the night as the Bruins finished on top 9-8.
Washington & Jefferson built early leads and held off visiting Westminster in both games Tuesday to secure another important Presidents' Athletic Conference sweep, winning 4-3 and 8-5. The sweep improves the Presidents to 13-1 in PAC play and 21-9 overall. The losses drop the Titans to 15-18 overall and 9-7 in conference play. W&J was able to start a two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh of the opener to score the eventual game-winning run. LaDuca and Garth singled produced back to back singles to put runners on the corners. Lutz did what he needed to do to get the go-ahead run across. A perfectly placed single in front of the right fielder scored LaDuca to help W&J regain the lead at 4-3. W&J staked claim to an early lead in game two. The Presidents scored five runs over the first to innings to take control. Freshman pitcher Thomas McLaren picked up the win on the mound for the Red & Black. McLaren improves to 2-2 after tossing six innings. He allowed four runs (two earned) on eight hits. He struck out one and walked one. Nate Nolan registering his first career save after coming in as relief in the top of the seventh. Nolan worked the final three innings and allowed one unearned run on two hits. Nolan struck out four and walked just one.
The Rhodes Lynx returned home to conclude the regular season with a single-game contest against the Mississippi University for Women Owls. Both offenses had solid days at the plate, but the Lynx eventually prevailed in extra innings. The Owls would score in the top of the 10th, but the Lynx were unphased as an RBI fielders choice from Clay Richardson brought the teams back to even. With the Lynx down to their final out, Charlie Meyer smoked a base hit to right field, allowing Malcolm Rohlfing to score and walk off the game in the bottom of the 10th. The final score resulted in an 8-7 Lynx victory. This game concluded the Lynx's 2024 regular season. They will travel to Birmingham-Southern College this weekend to kick off the conference tournament.
Williams College secured a 12-4 win over Bard College. The game started with Williams taking the lead right from the first inning. The offensive prowess of Williams continued throughout the game. The fourth inning saw Mike Giove triple to center field, bringing in Sasha Palma for another run. Henry Juan's smart base running shortly after allowed Giove to score during a steal, extending the lead to 6-0. The fifth inning saw Williams expand their advantage further. The scoring spree continued in the seventh. Luca Lopetro's double to left field drove in two runs, followed by Henry Juan's double that scored Lopetrone, pushing the tally to a dominant 12-1. Bard College found some footing in the eighth, adding three runs to the scoreboard but it was not nearly enough to overtake the Ephs.
Waynesburg University concluded Presidents' Athletic Conference play with a split at Grove City on Tuesday. The Wolverines used a strong pitching performance to take a 9-2 victory in the opening game. Waynesburg bounced back with a 9-8 10-inning victory. Gavin Pratt launched a two-run homer in the 10th to secure the game-winning runs. The Yellow Jackets move to 22-14 on the season and finish the 20-game league schedule with a 15-5 record. In 10 PAC doubleheaders, the Jackets notched six sweeps and three splits. Waynesburg's .750 conference winning percentage matches the 2000 squad that went 12-4 for the highest in program history. Grove City moves to 17-11 on the season and 8-4 in PAC play.
Wartburg picked up some important American Rivers Conference wins in a doubleheader sweep, 11-6 and 8-3, over Loras at home. The Knights move to 18-13 overall and to 8-9 in A-R-C play after picking up its first series win against Loras since the 2017 season. "I loved our offensive approach in both games tonight," said Head Coach Casey Klunder following the sweep over Loras College. "We had quality at-bats all the way through the lineup and hit deeper into the lineup then we have been recently, so I'm just really proud of these guys." With today's sweep, it marks the first regular-season series win over Loras since 2017. Zach Walton has still reached base in every game this season (31).
Roger Williams University defeated Curry on Tuesday afternoon, 20-6, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference contest at Jack Valley Diamond, winning in eight innings. Nick Sheehan had five RBIs with a pair of hits, one a home run, while Jack Morin and Ethan Keeney each added three RBIs in the contest. Graduate students Luke Tanner and John Nowak both had two hits and combined to drive in four runs as Babson College defeated visiting Wheaton College, 6-4, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Govoni Field. Tanner doubled and homered, senior Tanner Santos was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored and classmate Ike Kiely singled twice and drove in a run for the Beavers. First-year Jason Finkelstein fanned six and gave up three runs over 5.0 innings to improve to 5-1 on the year with the win, while four relievers combined for eight strikeouts over the final four frames. Senior Mike Maher went 2-for-5 with two RBI, junior Timmy Wagner and first-year Casey Wensley both had two hits and senior AJ Guindon doubled and scored twice to pace the Lyons. Sophomore Ben Oliveira was chased after allowing four runs on six hits over 2.1 innings and dropped to 3-2 with the loss.

Senior rightfielder Jason Claiborn drove in a pair of runs with his fourth game of at least three hits this year and graduate righty Nathan Furino left the tying run on base in the bottom of the ninth inning with a game-ending fly ball as the No. 16 Eastern Connecticut State University held off Keene State College, 5-4, in Little East Conference action Tuesday afternoon at the Owl Athletic Complex. Eastern's (23-8, 10-1 LEC) ninth straight win over Keene (15-17, 5-5 LEC), coupled with UMass Dartmouth's loss to homestanding UMass Boston Tuesday, pulls the Warriors even with UMD (18-14-1, 10-1 LEC) atop the conference standings. The one-run victory this year is Eastern's fifth straight this year after two one-run losses. The Warriors, ranked second in New England, have won 22 of their last 25 after beginning the season at 1-5.
Salve Regina University graduate student Matt D'Amato swatted a 2-2 pitch to deep right center field for a three-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning as the #7 Seahawk defeated Johnson & Wales University, 8-6, in non-league action at Reynolds Field on Tuesday.
Johns Hopkins returned to Centennial Conference play to take on Gettysburg Tuesday afternoon, tying its season-high mark of five homers — paced by two from Caleb Cyr — in a 13-8 win over the Bullets. Cole Jefferson was the winning pitcher in Tuesday's contest, allowing two runs — one earned — on three hits in 2.2 innings while the Blue Jays took the lead. The win is the sophomore's first of the season and fourth of his career. William Boneno earned his team-best third save of the season on the mound after entering the game with a two-run lead in the seventh and allowing two runs on three hits and fanning four in three innings. Hopkins now has five saves on the season, with the sophomore accounting for three of them. With his two homers in Tuesday's contest, Cyr now has four multi-home run games in his career. The senior's 11 on the season lead the team and Centennial Conference and bring his career tally up to 28, placing him in sole possession of seventh for the most homers in program history.
Rochester scored five runs in the third inning, three coming on a Colby Cruser home run, to snag the lead and eventually earn an 11-4 non-conference win over Hamilton College on Tuesday afternoon at the Loop Road Athletic Complex. Overall, Rochester (15-14) pounded out 12 hits in the win, getting three from Josh Leadem and two each from Cruser, Luke Gregory and Sammy Besztery. Cruser finished with a season-high four RBI, while Besztery drove in three, including two on a double in the big third inning. Leadem and Gregory each had a double and scored two runs. On the mound, Matthew Grier got the start for the 'Jackets, with the junior going three innings. He allowed 3 hits, 3 runs and 3 walks while striking out 4. Thomas Blaydes took over and was terrific, firing three scoreless innings allowing just one hit and one walk. He whiffed three batters. Zach Herzog, Magnus Sivertson and Leadem closed out the victory each throwing one inning on the mound.
A six-run eighth inning lifted Arcadia University to its ninth-straight victory at The College of New Jersey, taking a 9-8 win in non-conference play on Tuesday afternoon. Emilo Pallante began the comeback in the seventh with an RBI single plating Kevin Wheeler to make it 7-3. Griffith began the eight inning scoring with a triple to left that scored Tommy Ajjan and Justin Massielo. Thomas Strauch and Pallante tied the score with RBI's. Anthony Bruno gave Arcadia the lead with a two-run homer bringing n Gabe Diaz. Patrick Dougherty earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief. Cam Nebel pitched the final two innings for his fifth save of the year.
Saint John's (Minn.) settled for its third-straight MIAC split on Tuesday, April 23, at Concordia. The Johnnies (20-11, 9-5 MIAC) tallied a pair of five-run innings in a 14-7 win in game one to clinch their 10th-straight season with 20 wins or more. The visitors batted 7-for-15 with runners in scoring position and 5-for-11 with two outs in the victory. SJU hit four home runs in game two but gave up a six-run third inning in a 9-6 loss in the nightcap. The specialty stats slowed to a 2-for-10 showing with runners in scoring position and 1-for-9 with two outs. Sophomore shortstop Reed Marquardt led SJU with a 5-for-7 performance at the plate with three doubles, four runs scored and two RBI. Five different Johnnies homered in the twin bill.
Nick Boles provided the big swing, just clearing the Greensboro Monster in left for a grand slam, sending Guilford College into the lead, and ultimately, to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament as it accounted for half of the eight runs plated in the second inning to propel the Quakers to an 8-7 victory over ODAC foe Roanoke College on Tuesday afternoon at McBane Field. The GC victory, combined with the University of Lynchburg's 10-4 win over Hampden-Sydney College elsewhere in conference action, secured their spot in the ODAC Tournament beginning the first weekend in May. This marks Guilford's second-straight conference tournament berth, making it the first time they have made the ODAC tournament in consecutive seasons since 2011-12. The Quakers, who are on fire as of late winning 10 of their last 13, having fought their way back to .500 at 19-19, including 11-9 in league action and leap-frogged Virginia Wesleyan in the standings, rising to sixth entering the season's final weekend. Meanwhile, RC falls to 20-17, 13-7 against ODAC opponents, but hold firm in second place in the standings, although they are now out of contention for the top seed.
Rochester Institute of Technology rallied to score three runs in the bottom of the ninth to defeat Hobart 5-4 in a Liberty League West game played at McDonough Park this afternoon. Jarin Moses delivered the game-winning single to drive home Caelan Kim from third. Hobart sophomore Christian Petry went 1-for-2 and walked, extending his streak of reaching base safely to 31 straight games. RIT didn't get its first hit of the game until the fifth inning. Randy Dodig had two of the Tigers' five hits in the game and drove in two runs.
Buena Vista University got a pair of career-best pitching performances by its starting pitching on Tuesday which helped aid the team as it got back on track with a doubleheader road sweep at Nebraska Wesleyan by scores of 8-3 and 12-3. Freshman right hander Johnny Vallinch pitched a career-high 6.1 innings in the opener while junior Evan Taylor was 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a pair of stolen bases to spark BVU to its fifth straight win over the Prairie Wolves in the opener. Vallinch allowed just three runs and four hits and improved to 3-1 overall. The Papillion, Neb., native's previous career-high was 3.2 innings set versus Wartburg College on Apr. 9, and today's outing was just the second time in 13 appearances this season where he worked longer than 2.0 innings.
Freshman Ryan Vallie went 4-for-6 with two runs, including the game-winner, an RBI, and a walk to lead the Western Connecticut State University Wolves to a 19-9 win over the visiting Rhode Island College Anchormen in Little East Conference action this afternoon at Westside Field. WestConn stops a seven-game losing skid and improve to 5-22 overall and 1-12 in the Little East. Rhode Island College falls to 13-14 overall and 3-8 in the league. WestConn pounded 22 hits and took advantage of six errors, seven walks, and three hit batsmen by the Anchormen to achieve their highest run total since the 2023 season opener against Yeshiva (19-1). The Wolves trailed several times early including the first frame when senior 2B Jesse Dunn led off the bottom half with a double and scored on an RBI single by classmate Stanley Roman to tie the game after the Anchormen scored a run in the top of the first. Rhode Island College scored twice more in the second inning, followed by one run by the Wolves in the third on a single by junior Nick Moeller and an RBI single by rookie 1B Thomas Keough.
UW-Whitewater kicked off their stretch of weekday away games with a win over Ripon College. The Warhawks scored at least run in every single inning of the game, taking an 18-7 win in 7 innings. The Warhawks opened up the scoring right away, with Eli Frank hitting a homeun in his first at bat. By the time Ripon got out of the inning, the Warhawks already managed to build a 4-0 lead. Ripon never found the answer to the Warhawh batts as they scored in every subsequent inning as weel to win going away. Bennett Frazer finished the game with 5 RBIs, going 4-for-5 from the plate. Wyatt Hansen had two doubles with Danny Hopper stealing three bags.
Keuka College combined for 34 runs on 29 hits on Tuesday in a doubleheader sweep at Clarks Summit University. Keuka College (8-21, 5-7 Empire 8) defeated the Defenders 23-4 in game one, tying for the fourth-most runs in a game in program history. The Wolves then completed the sweep with an 11-5 victory in game two. In the opener, Keuka pushed their lead to 18-4 and extended it as Kyle Wood hit his second two-run home run of the game in the fifth, becoming the first player since 2015 to hit two home runs in a game. As a team, the Wolves set a program record with five home runs in a game. Tyler Lewandowski finished the game becoming the second player in program history to hit for the cycle. To go with his four hits, he drove in six runs and scored five as the Wolves defeated the Defenders 23-4.
The Crown Polars defeated the Minnesota Morris Cougars 12-1 on Tuesday to complete the UMAC series sweep. After the Polars were set down in order to start the contest the Cougars struck first as they scored one run following a bunt, error, and a few groundouts. Crown quickly answered back with hits from Ashton Long, Matthew Shaugabay, Ethan Habetler, Drew Girtz, and Mason Brock to take a 4-1 lead. The Polars tacked on one more run in the 3rd inning to make it 5-1. The Crown offense continued to put runners on and after an RBI single from Brock, Hatton drove him in with a 2-run home run to stretch the lead to 8-1. A one run 5th and three run 6th gave the Polars their 12-1 lead and victory. Aidan Volk Specht pitched a complete game as he managed to scatter 6 hits across 7 innings of work and added 10 strikeouts on the mound. Shaugabay led the Polars offense going 3-4 with 3 RBI's. Brock added to his RBI total with 4 on the day.
Seniors Cole Lalli and Jack Hayes had three hits apiece for the Mitchell College baseball team on Tuesday afternoon, helping power the Mariners past Rivier University 13-1 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game at Alumni Field. The win was the eight consecutive for the Mariners, and improved their GNAC record to a perfect 12-0. Lalli added three RBI, while Hayes drove in one and scored two times. Freshman Michael Ficocelli finished 2-4 with three RBI and a run scored, while senior Michael Gajda belted his third home run of the season, a three-run shot to deep left-centerfield in the fifth inning. Seniors Angel Galindez and Robbie DelaCruz each added two hits and drove in three runs. Once again playing on their home diamond as the away team, the Mariners plated five runs in the top of the first and never looked back, scoring again in the second, before adding four runs in the fifth, and another three in the sixth. Freshman Joshua Scamman improved his record to 2-0 on the spring, tossing five and one third innings of one run ball. Scamman scattered just one hit, allowed one walk, and struck out six.
Three home runs, including two in the seventh inning, pushed Central College to a 6-5 victory over Luther College Tuesday, securing the series win. The Dutch (13-20, 7-11 American Rivers Conference) fell 14-4 to the Norse in the nightcap. Central won the first game of the series last Tuesday 8-3 in Decorah. After four scoreless frames in game one, Colton DeRocher's solo shot tied the game at 4-4. Two batters later, designated hitter Caleb Douglass added a two-run home run to put Central in front for good 6-4. "Caleb has been putting good swings on balls all year," coach Adam Carey said. "Lately we are starting to see those balls fall and it's even better to see them fall on the other side of the fence." After notching 12 hits in the opener, the Dutch bats mustered just four hits in game two. Defensively, the Dutch committed three errors. "We took the first two games of the series and it felt like the focus wasn't there in the third game like it needed to be," Carey said. "That's something that we have to do better as a coaching staff and its something our players need to do a better job of but it starts with us."
