BREVARD, N.C. – Vinny Carone has been named Interim Head Baseball Coach at Brevard College, announced Director of Athletics Myranda Nash. Carone steps into the role with the departure of Mike Victory who has been at the helm of the BC Baseball program for the past five seasons. Carone's duties as Interim Head Coach at Brevard will begin on November 1.
"Coach Carone has rapidly displayed the necessary ability to step into this new role and to guide the Tornado baseball program heading into the 2025 season," said Nash. "We very much look forward to seeing Vinny lead the team as our Interim Head Coach. We also thank Coach Victory for his outstanding service to Brevard College and his mentorship to so many student-athletes over these past five seasons."
Carone becomes Interim Head Baseball Coach after serving as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator under Victory since August of 2023.
"It has been a lifelong goal of mine to be a college head baseball coach," stated Carone. "To have the opportunity to do it at Brevard College, with this group of men, makes the opportunity even more special. Coach Victory has done more than can be expressed for this program and I look forward to utilizing what he has taught us to take Brevard Baseball to the next level."
Last season, Carone worked with Victory to help guide the Tornados to the program's first appearance in the USA South Conference Championship series. BC earned its first-ever, NCAA-era postseason home wins, while eclipsing the 20-win mark for the third straight season.
In the classroom in 2023-24, the Tornados earned the ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) Team Academic Excellence Award and had a program-record five student-athletes named CSC (College Sports Communicators) Academic All-District.
Carone arrived at Brevard College from McDowell High School in Erie, Pennsylvania where he led that program to a divisional championship. Impressively, 42% of the graduates that Carone coached at McDowell High School went on to play college baseball.
