Augsburg University pounded out 12 hits, including three home runs, and used a nine-run seventh inning to claim a 14-6 season-opening victory at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul on Monday afternoon. Northwestern scored five runs to take a lead in the bottom of the fifth inning, but Augsburg responded two innings later, sending 14 batters to the plate and scoring nine runs. Austin Lang started on the mound for the Auggies, striking out six against three walks and four hits in 4.1 innings of work. Manny Weiss relieved in the middle innings, and Caleb Tays pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, striking out four against one walk. Adam Marshall went 3-for-6 with three runs scored and three RBI to lead the Auggies. (click here for photos)
Elizabethtown finished off the second day of their spring break trip with a bang as they completed a comeback win, defeating defending National Champion, Misericordia, 6-5. It was a banner day for the first year pitchers as Paul Kvech earned the win while Cory Rible earned his second save on the week. AJ Lipscomb pitched five innings totaling five strikeouts. The Cougars responded in the bottom half of the seventh and eighth, tacking on three more runs to regain the lead at 5-2. With one out in the top of the ninth, Etown started to gain momentum and tied the game at 5-5 with the bases loaded. Elizabethtown was able to secure the 6-5 win with a bases loaded walk.
Clark University (4-1) overcame a 9-2 deficit and rallied to score the final 13 runs of the game to top Moravian (1-3) 15-9 on Monday morning from Lake Myrtle Park. Moravian belted a homer in the top of the first and added three runs in the top of the second. With four more runs Moravian pushed their lead to 9-2. Anthony LoCasto belted a three-run that started Clark on the comeback trail. The Cougars pounced with 10 runs to take a 15-9 edge. Robby Roth tossed two more shutout innings in the sixth and seventh before junior Tommy Flaherty entered and slammed the door on the Grey Hounds with a scoreless eighth and ninth to win 15-9.
Lyon College swept a home doubleheader against Crowley's Ridge College, 4-0 and 9-8. The Scots prevailing in the opener 4-0 off a brilliant start by right-handed pitcher Conrad Muir. Muir went the distance, pitching all seven innings in the game, giving up zero runs while holding the Pioneers to just three hits. The freshman from Frisco, Texas also struck out one batter while walking one. Game two of the doubleheader saw the Scots win in thrilling fashion, walking off for the second time in the last five games. Crowley's Ridge battled back in the top of the seventh, scoring four runs to take back the lead against the Scots, leaving Lyon College trailing 8-7 going into the bottom of the final frame. Logan Lightner started the Scots' rally with a pinch hit RBI single into right field, scoring pinch runner Misael Santiago from third base to tie the game, 8-8. The Scots walked the game off when Slade Inman reached first base on an error by Crowley's Ridge, with Compton scoring from third base and securing the 9-8 victory for Lyon College.

Sophomore Cameron Slough blasted a grand slam and finished the game with six RBI as the 11th-ranked Christopher Newport closed it's trip to Myrtle Beach with a dominant 11-1 win over Neumann (0-1). The Captains improved to 8-3 on the season with the win, which was shortened to seven innings via the 10-run rule. Slough finished the game with a 3-for-4 performance and a career-high 6 RBI to match Sam Benedict for the most in a game this season. His bases-clearing blast in the top of the fourth inning changed the game as CNU took a 5-1 lead and pulled away with another run in the fifth and five more in the sixth. On the mound, senior Jackson Baird (1-1) had the Knights guessing at the plate all game with six strikeouts and just three hits allowed. After an RBI double in the bottom of the second, Baird recorded eight straight outs and cruised through the third and fourth frames with three strikeouts and six batters faced. In his final inning of work, the fifth, Baird stranded a pair of baserunners with his final punchout of the game.
Adrian College played a doubleheader on Monday, opening with a 5-2 win over Centenary before falling to East Texas Baptist 10-5 in the nightcap. The Bulldogs got on the board in first in the fourth inning when David Kedrow drove in a run with an RBI single to left field. Later in the inning, Rolando Jimenez launched a three-run home run to left, giving Adrian a 4-0 lead. the teams traded runs before Centenary finished the scoring with a solo home run in the bottom half of the fifth to 5-2, which would hold as the final. Parker Faris started for Adrian and earned the win, throwing five innings and allowing two runs on three hits, with four strikeouts. In the nighcap, East Texas Baptist jumped out to an early lead, scoring seven runs over the first four innings. Adrian got on the board in the fifth inning and mounted a comeback in the sixth inning to narrow the deficit to 7-5. However, East Texas Baptist added three more runs in the seventh inning and held on to win 10-5.
Wartburg opened play at the RussMatt Invitational with a 7-2 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology and then fell to Benedictine University 5-3 to close the day. The Knights jumped on Wentworth early but did not put distance between themselves and the Leopards until the seventh and eight inings. Like Wartburg in game one, the Eagles were able to put up some early runs and add more in the late innings. The Knights faught back and loaded the bases up in the top of the ninth inning. A walk brought Wartburg within two runs but was unable to bring anymore runs across and fell 5-3.
A five-run third inning powered the Elmira College Soaring Eagles to an 8-2 victory over Rivier, bringing their record to 2-2 on the season. After a scoreless first two innings, Elmira broke the game open in the third. Brady Buttice sparked the rally with a triple before stealing home, followed by an RBI single from Xander Canfield. Matteo Salvati came through with a two-run single, pushing Elmira's lead to 4-0. An error in center field allowed another run to score, capping off the five-run frame. In the fourth, Kaden Bolt scored on a passed ball, extending the lead to 6-0. Rivier got on the board in the sixth after a passed ball allowed a run to score, but Elmira quickly responded in the seventh. Salvati drove in his third run of the game with a sacrifice fly, and Nick Lees added an RBI groundout to make it 8-1. Rivier added another run in the bottom of the seventh, but Elmira's bullpen held strong, securing the win.
Waynesburg University cruised to a 13-1 victory over Vermont State Lyndon on the second day of the Yellow Jackets' spring break trip in Florida on Monday. Waynesburg scored in each of the first six innings, including a six-run second inning. Starting pitcher Gavin Pratt set a career-high with 11 strikeouts and allowed one earned run on three hits. Aidan Williams went 4-for-5 with a double, three runs scored, a walk and an RBI. Alec Engelmore drove in three runs. Seth Burgdolt doubled and scored three times while Danny Flynn and Alek Wagor each scored twice.
Gustavus began its annual spring break trip to Arizona with a doubleheader sweep over Concordia-Wisconsin on Monday. The Gusties handily won the first game 10-2 before an 11-8 comeback win in the second, improving to 4-0 to start the season. In game one, Gustavus took a 9-1 lead in the fourth and rolled to the win. Luke Siegle improved to 2-0 on the year after tossing five innings. He allowed one earned run on three hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Playing as the visitors in game two, the Gusties opened the first with a run but found themselves down in the fourth, 7-2. The Gusties started their comeback effort in the fifth with three runs on four hits.
Jackson Thielen entered the game in the fourth and after allowing two runs, he kept the Concordia bats at bay for the next frame. The Gusties then took the lead in the sixth as Schmitz hit a two-run double, followed by a two-run single by Burns. The Falcons added one in the bottom half and had the game-tying runner on base, but Brevin Goetz shut the door with a bases-loaded strikeout to end the game.
Starting pitcher Mark Eddie pitched 7.2 shutout innings and Buena Vista scratched across three runs in the sixth inning en route to a 3-0 victory over Saint Mary's (Minn.) on Monday morning to remain perfect on its spring trip. Eddie did not allow a single base hit until a two-out double in the eighth inning. Up to that point, he had fanned 11 batters, walked two and hit one. Following the double, he handed the ball over to freshman Dylan Johnson who came on and did not allow a hit, struck out three and walked one over the final 1.1 innings en route to his first career save. Buena Vista tallied 10 hits in the game with Drew Taylor's double going down as the only extra-base knock.
Susquehanna improved its win streak to four with a 7-6 walk-off win against Heidelberg in 10 innings, but saw their streak snapped with a 6-5 defeat to Alvernia in another one-run decision in the second game Monday. Susquehanna got a ten-inning win over Heidelberg to open Monday's slate of games, with Cam Eberly crossing the plate as the winning run as Dylan Heyduk reached on an error. Max Lipton tossed a scoreless ninth and tenth en route to his first collegiate win, recording his first career strikeout in the process. Susquehanna dropped the second of two Monday games in Fort Pierce, falling 6-5 at the hands of Alvernia. The River Hawks threatened to rally in the ninth on the back of three Alvernia errors, but were unable to score the tying run from third base.
The University of Dubuque picked up their third straight win at the Russmatt Invitational on Monday after a 8-5 win over Dominican University. Dominican scored three runs in the top of the first inning as the Spartans fell behind early. The Spartans would go on to score the next eight runs of the game starting with four runs in the second inning courtesy of two Dominican errors and two hits to give the Spartans the lead. The Spartans would add on in the bottom of the fifth inning as Aidan Elfering hit a two-run home run to extend the lead to 6-3. The very next inning the Spartans added their final two runs of the game. They didn't record a single hit in the inning, but were able to record four walks and got a run in on a fielder's choice play.
