UW-La Crosse opened the 2025 season with a top-10 match up as they fell 8-1 to La Verne University Friday afternoon. La Verne took a 4-0 lead after four innings as they scored a single run in each of the first four innings. The Leopards would then score four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take an 8-0 lead. La Verne would score four runs on three hit and one error in the fifth. he Eagles would get their lone run in the top of the seventh inning and not threaten to score in the final two innings.
Keystone College had a doubleheader split with Moravian University as they lost the first game 15-4 but bounced back to take game two, 13-8 Friday evening. The Greyhounds got on the Giants early as they scored eight runs in the first two innings. They kept pouring on as they added four runs in the fourth followed by three in the sixth to solidify the opening game victory. Keystone deposited two runs in the first and second innings but were unable to bring more runners in. Both squads got off to a quick start as Moravian scored four runs in the top of the first while Keystone dropped three in the bottom half of the first. The Giants outscored Moravian 10-3 in innings three through six which helped them get the game two win.
Penn State Abington began its annual Florida trip on a high note as the Nittany Lions came away with an 11-4 triumph over Berea College in a non-conference contest at the RussMatt Baseball Invitational on Friday afternoon at Lake Myrtle Park. Senior Garrett Garofalo went 4-for-3 at the plate for the Nittany Lions as he fell a home run shy of the cycle. Garofalo also scored twice in the game. Senior Jake Fallers also had multiple hits in the game as he went 2-for-4 5 with a run and an RBI. Senior Owen Lynch (1-0) picked up the win as he went six innings while holding Berea to just five hits. Lynch finished the game with five strikeouts. Today marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Berea. Berea defeated Northland 9-7 earlier in the day.
Dylan Kopesky got to play the role of hero Friday night, delivering a walk-off hit in the bottom of the 10th, giving Gustavus a dramatic 7-6 comeback victory over Linfield. The Gusties remain unbeaten at 7-0 this season. Linfield took a one-run lead in the 10th after a one-out double came around on consecutive singles, but Sam Baker limited the damage and got out of the jam with a strikeout and pop out. Once again, the Gusties had an answer as Brady Schmitz led off the 10th with a double and advanced to third on an error. Two batters later, Luke Siegle doubled to right, scoring Schmitz to tie the game. With two outs and the winning run on second, Kopesky stepped to the plate and delivered a game-winning RBI single up the middle. Gavin (2-3. R. 3 RBI, 2B, HR, 2 BB) and Siegle (2-5, R, 2 RBI, 2B, 3B) led the Gusties at the plate as Baker earned the mound win after tossing the 10th with a pair of strikeouts. The Gusties pitching staff combined for 18 strikeouts.
Susquehanna beat 2024 Division III national champions No. 11 Misericordia 8-4 as well as Northwestern (MN) 4-1 to improve to 6-1 in their last seven games, including 5-1 on their spring break ledger. Susquehanna claimed an 8-4 win over 11th-ranked Misericordia in the 10 AM start to the day, with Evan Applegate not giving up an earned run in 5.1 innings of work. Misericordia put across a run in the bottom of the first, but were held off the board until the eighth inning as the River Hawks piled on eight runs. Jack Greco struck out seven in six innings of work, while the River Hawks drew eight walks as they won the second game of the day 4-1 over University of Northwestern (Minn.).
LeTourneau rebounded from a game one loss and used a three-run homer from Dane Jones and clutch bullpen pitching to take game two, 10-8, over Belhaven on Friday night at Trustmark Park in Pearl. LeTourneau dropped the opener, 10-2. The LeTourneau offense was held at bay by Belhaven starter Kade May and the Blazers used a four-run seventh inning to pull away for a 10-2 victory. Jones hit his first home run of the season as part of a five-run second inning for LeTourneau and the YellowJacket bullpen arms came up with big outs in a 10-8 victory in game two.
Roger Williams University opened the 2025 season with a victory on Friday afternoon, as the Hawks downed Saint Mary's (Minn.) 7-1 in non-conference action on Saturday at the RussMatt Tournament down in Florida. In game two with the Cardinal, St. Mary's won 11-4. The Hawks saw Matthew Donovan pick up the win while pitching 2.0 innings, with three strikeouts facing seven batters. Lucas Lariviere excelled in his start, going 5.1 innings on the bump with four strikeouts and two walks, while allowing three hits and one unearned run. Saint Mary's saw Drew Rothenberger get the start, pitching three innings giving up one earned run on two hits with six walks. Patrick Schork fell, pitching two innings giving up four earned runs. The Cardinals took an early lead with five runs in the first inning, adding four more in the second and two in the third, while the Hawks scored one run in the first and three in the fourth. Riley Bauman stood out as a key player for the Cardinals, recording a team-high OPS of 1.417. In his performance, Bauman contributed two hits and two RBIs, along with two runs scored and a stolen base. Daniel Sherman also made a significant impact, achieving an OPS of 1.167 with two RBIs and one hit, which included a double.
Mount Union (3-2) opened up its Florida road trip with an 11-4 victory over the Aurora Spartans (2-7). Offensively, the Purple Raiders started the game hot and didn't let their foot off the gas. Starting pitcher senior Brady Hansen had an impressive performance on the mound, pitching six innings while recording five strikeouts and allowing only two hits and one earned run. He did a fantastic job escaping a bases-loaded situation with just one out in the sixth inning. Offensively, Mount Union notched 17 hits and 11 runs. They were led by graduate first baseman Jaired Lehman, who went 4/6 on the day with a double and four RBIs. Senior third baseman Chris Viamonte had a stellar performance, batting 3/5 with a walk and an RBI.

The Hartford Hawks opened up their trip down to Virginia on Friday splitting a doubleheader with #12 Christopher Newport University. Hartford would drop the first game by a 8-6 final before winning against the Captains by a 10-3 margin in game two. In the opener, the Hawks held a 6-5 lead only to see the Captains stormed back with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning before registering another in the eighth. Hartford's bats stayed silent in the eighth and ninth as Christopher Newport won the first game by the 8-6 score. Similar to game one, the Hawks would score first and jump out to an early lead. In the top of the sixth the Hawks got some insurance as junior Joshua Kaplan singled home a run and junior Jackson Ciccone added three more runs with a moon shot over the wall to give Hartford a 7-1 lead. The Captains would plate two runs in the bottom of the frame as we headed to the final three innings with the Hawks leading 7-3. Hartford would get a sacrifice fly by sophomore Jon Melarzcik in the seventh before getting two more runs in the ninth to pull away and win 10-3. "Coming into the game against a ranked team I knew I had to show up for the team", said freshman Ryan Sheehy. "I knew they would have my back with the run support we needed feels good to pick up another win."

St. Joseph's (L.I.) started Skyline Conference play with a pair of wins at Yeshiva University on Friday afternoon. The Golden Eagles claimed a 14-1 win in game one before cruising to a 29-1 win in game two. In the opener, senior Anselmo Joya was 4-for-5 with six RBIs, two doubles, and a run scored and senior Jordan Ramlogan went 2-for-4 with a walk, a triple, two RBIs, and four runs scored. Rund came in bunches in game two. Sophomore Scott Northrop finished with three hits, two walks, three RBIs and two runs scored.
Brevard College (4-9) came up big in the late innings to take a 9-6 road victory over host Huntingdon (10-5) on Friday evening on day one of the Firehouse Classic at the Neal Posey Field in Montgomery, Alabama. The Tornados came from behind with a four-run sixth inning before three-run eighth inning sealed the deal for BC. Catcher Hunter Busque led the charge offensively, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, a double and a run scored. First baseman Cale Oehler hit a two-RBI double, while Hayden Jennings, Frankie Vasquez and Nico Bartolotti all drove in runs as well. Leadoff hitter CP Pyle reached base four times and scored two runs, while second baseman Adam Newcomb also scored twice. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Zack Wilson earned the win for the Tornados, going a career-long 7.2 innings. Wilson allowed four runs on eight hits in the effort, while walking three batters. Aaron Burchett relieved Wilson, then junior Andy Fahringer recorded the game's final out via strikeout to register the save. JB Landrum started on the mound for Huntingdon and went five complete innings, giving up two runs on two hits. Landrum struck out five and walked five, while throwing 100 total pitches. Evan Clark (0-1) took the loss for the Hawks.
A three-hit day for both Jonathan Cruz and Cooper Krause led Oglethorpe to a narrow 6-5 win Friday night against Husson. It was the opener of a three-game home series and marked the Stormy Petrels' fifth straight win. Husson, in its season opener, held leads of 1-0 and 3-1, the latter in the middle of the fifth inning, but a four-run sixth propelled the Petrels into the lead for good. Trey Kinnan had an RBI single to open the scoring in the sixth inning on a play that tied the game 3-3. Two pitches later, Krause had a two-RBI double to give Oglethorpe a 5-3 lead. Husson cut into the lead with a two-run homer in the seventh, but Dylan Quintilio closed the final door on the visiting Eagles, pitching two scoreless and hitless frames to pick up his third save. Freshman Konner Burrell, who came in to relieve starting pitcher Will Lumpkin in the fifth, earned the win, the first of his career, after going two innings and striking out two.
Outstanding starting pitching led Muhlenberg to a 7-2 win against Bard in the first game of a three-game series at Penn Medicine Park in Lancaster. Sophomore Luke Foley faced just three batters over the minimum in his six-inning stint to earn the win. He retired the first 11 batters he faced before giving up a single and did not allow a runner past first base. Foley (pictured above) matched his career high with 5 strikeouts and ended his day by making a nice play on a comebacker to end the top of the sixth. The Raptors (0-3) threatened to get back in the game in the seventh, loading the bases with one out before junior Evan Virno came in to retire the side on a line drive to shortstop that freshman Salvatore Cifalino, just into the game, turned into an unassisted double play. Virno pitched a scoreless eighth before Bard spoiled the shutout in the ninth. The Mules (5-2) managed only four hits themselves but capitalized on five errors, 11 walks and two hit batters, scoring all their runs between the second and fifth innings.
Keuka College opened the 2025 season with a doubleheader at Penn State Scranton on Friday. Keuka College (1-1) dropped the opener 10-8 but rallied for the split, winning game two 11-1. Keuka College jumped out to the quick lead and led 4-0. The lead held until the third when Penn State scored four runs to tie the game. Keuka tried to rally in the seventh. The Wolves plated three runs and got the tying runner on base, but they would not be able to cash it in as Keuka lost the opener 10-8. After having eight runs on ten hits in the first game, the Wolves kept the offense rolling in game two and out hit the Nittany Lions. Alex Evans filled the box score of the Wolves. The sophomore infielder had two hits, two runs scored, and two runs batted in in game two. Defensively, he was also involved in two of the three double plays turned by the Wolves.
Chatham (5-5, 0-0 PAC) split their double header against Wentworth (2-7, 0-0 CNE) on Friday, winning game one 13-8 but falling in game two 8-2. In game one, Chatham would surrender 4 runs in the bottom of the fourth but came back with 3 of their own in the top half of the fifth. Angelo DeLeonardis brought 2 runs home with a single to center field, which Eddie Rueda followed with a shift-beating back-side base hit to give the Cougars a 6-run cushion. The Leopards would put 3 more runs on the board in the bottom half of the frame and cut their deficit to 10-7. In the top of the seventh, Chatham put another 3-spot on the scoreboard courtesy of an errant Wentworth pickoff attempt, another Rueda RBI single and a Boehm base knock to solidify the 5-run victory. In game two Wentworth scored four in the second inning to control the game. Ferrara picked up the win (1-1) with his five innings of work. At the plate, Christian Roncal was 3-for-5 with two RBI. Today was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
SUNY New Paltz split the day Friday, going 1-1 with the Centenary University Cyclones after falling in Game 1, 11-0 before coming back to earn a dominant Game 2 victory, 23-8. The Hawks (4-4) finished Game 1 with 10 runs, nine hits and five errors to the Cyclones (4-5-1) 11 runs, 10 hits and one error. SUNY New Paltz dominated in Game 2 with 23 runs, 20 hits and four errors to Centenary's eight runs, seven hits and one error. In a game that had fans on the edge of their seats, Centenary pulled off a stunning comeback in the opener, overcoming a late deficit to secure an 11-10 victory. The Cyclones were down by 3 runs going into the fifth inning, but their explosive rally, fueled by a six-run outburst, turned the game on its head and led them to a thrilling win.In the nightcap, the Cyclones could not answer back the 15 un-answered runs, and SUNY New Paltz took game two in seven inning's played. Connor Catania finished on the mound pitching 2.0 innings, earning one strikeout, letting up one hit and no runs. Jeff Lundstedt earned his first career win.
The eighth ranked Trinity Tigers opened with a thrilling 5-2 win against McMurry University in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series opener on Friday night. The Tigers improved their season record to an impressive 10-1 (9-1 SCAC) and snapped a six-game winning streak for McMurry, who fell to 11-3 (7-3 SCAC) with the loss. Clayton Jackson took home the win out of the bullpen, going 3.2 strong shutout innings while only allowing one hit and collecting seven strikeouts. Nicholas Lazzara was strong for the Tigers from the dish, going 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored, and an RBI.
Allegheny doubled up St. John Fisher en route to an 8-4 victory over the Cardinals on Friday at Sanford Memorial Stadium in Sanford, Florida. The Cardinals (4-5) plated the game's first run, but the Gators (4-4) rebounded with six unanswered in the second, third, and fourth innings to take an insurmountable lead. Eight different batters finished with a hit, and seven scored a run for Allegheny, which snapped a three-game skid on its southern spring break trip. Tied at 1-all in the third, Tyler Skaggs connected for his second home run in as many days. Skaggs' two-run bomb put Allegheny ahead for good and signaled the end of the day for Fisher's starting pitcher. The second-year catcher then provided two of the team's three runs in the fourth inning with a two-run base hit that extended the lead to 6-1. After being held in check by Dawson Thomas throughout the early innings, Fisher loaded the bases and drove in three runs in the fifth. Clinging to a 6-4 lead with two runners on, Mitchell Swineford entered out of the bullpen and quickly halted the scoring threat. From there, four Allegheny relievers combined for 4.1 shutout innings with only two hits and one walk allowed.
