Rutgers University-Camden scored in seven of its eight offensive innings, senior pitcher Ethan Carpenter hurled five strong innings to raise his record to 3-0 and junior second baseman Frankie Romond went 3-for-6 with six RBIs as the Scarlet Raptors defeated nationally-ranked SUNY-Cortland, 13-8, Sunday. Rutgers-Camden improved to 7-1 with its fourth straight win. It was the Scarlet Raptors' first win over a ranked team since April 25 and 26 last season, when Rutgers-Camden swept a home-and-home series with #20 Montclair State University. The Scarlet Raptors scored in each of the first five innings as they took a 9-1 lead behind Carpenter, who worked into the sixth inning before being relieved. Cortland had sliced the gap to 9-6. He also helped to turn a double play. Graduate student reliever Jacob Shapley worked out of Cortland's big sixth inning, retiring two of the three batters he faced, and went on to finish the game, earning his first save as a Scarlet Raptor. Shapley worked 3.2 innings, allowing five hits and two earned runs. He walked two, struck out five and finished the game on the back end of a 3-6-1 double play. Romond missed a cycle by only a single, getting one final chance in the eighth inning and grounding out to first base. He scored two runs and drove home six.
No. 25 Centre kept the hot streak going, making a statement win against no. 13 Rhodes by a score of 22-10 in seven innings to complete the series sweep and start conference play on the highest note. The Colonels needed just ten hits to record their 22 runs. Weisberg was the only Centre player to finish with multiple hits on the day. Evan Rygalski's five RBIs were the highest total by a Centre player in a game this season, with Weyler and Craig each driving in three runs. The game featured 27 combined walks and six combined hit by pitches.
No. 3-ranked Johns Hopkins faced seventh-ranked Salisbury in its first road test of the season Sunday afternoon, routing the Sea Gulls 9-2. The Blue Jay offense proved too powerful for the Sea Gulls' pitching staff, scoring five of its nine runs with two outs. Salisbury (7-2) jumped out to an early lead, scoring the opening run in the first inning. The Blue Jay offense started slow, having its first six batters retired in order before all cylinders started to fire for Hopkins (9-0). Jimmy Stevens led off the third inning with a double, followed by a Clay Hartje two-run bomb, capped by a trio of singles over the next four batters, adding an additional run – a lead they held for the remainder of the contest. Hopkins added insurance runs in the top of the fifth – all with two outs extending the lead to seven, before the Jays scored another two-out run on a Shawn Steuerer double. The Sea Gulls clawed back scoring its second run in the sixth, before Grant Meert, Nicolas Jos and Cole Jefferson hurled three innings of scoreless baseball to secure the victory over seventh-ranked Salisbury.
The eighth-ranked Trinity Tiger completed a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend series sweep with a ninth-inning rally to earn a 6-5 win over McMurry University on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers (12-1, 11-1 SCAC) scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to avoid losing the final game of the series and extend the team's winning streak to five games. Trinity had an early 2-1 lead, but McMurry scored four runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to carry a 5-2 advantage into the ninth. The Tigers collected four of their nine hits on the day in the final inning and scored all four runs without anyone getting out. Kaleb Woodward drove in the tying and winning runs with a walk-off single to right-center field, putting the finishing touches on a three-hit day for the sophomore outfielder. Kai Tinker also had three hits, and the duo combined for six of Trinity's total for the day.
Freshman CJ Chatterton drove in five, including two in a three-run eighth, and junior Sam Slevin picked up the win as No. 17 Randolph-Macon nipped Shenandoah 7-6 on Sunday afternoon. The Hornets posted a pair in both the seventh and eighth to take a 6-4 lead. In the bottom of the eighth, senior Chaz Harvey was plunked with one out and Baffone walked with two away. A double by junior Logan Duff knocked in Harvey to make it 6-5. Chatterton hit a fly ball that the left fielder appeared to lose in the sun. It fell for a double, allowing Baffone and Duff to score and give RMC a 7-6 edge. Slevin kept the Hornets off the board in the top of the ninth to secure the victory.
Gustavus wrapped up its annual spring break trip to Arizona on Sunday with a 14-11 victory over Wesleyan University, finishing the trip with eight wins an zero losses. The Gusties improve to 10-0 overall and have started the season with 10 consecutive victories for the first time in program history. Gustavus opened a 8-4 advantage. Wesleyan started its comeback bid in the fourth with three runs, tied the game in the fifth, and then took a 9-8 lead in the seventh. But as they did all game leading up to this point, the Gusties had an answer and scored four runs in the eighth to regain a 12-9 lead. Siegle, Burns, and Siens all had RBIs in the inning. The Cardinals hit a home run in the eighth, cutting the difference to two runs, but the Gusties tacked on two more runs in the ninth after Siegle and Burns drove in runs. Wesleyan made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth by scoring a run and had the game-tying run at the plate, but Adam Biewen closed the door with a strikeout to end the game.
Junior catcher Shea Donovan went yard in the fourth inning to bring home three runs and extend Salve Regina University's win streak to 7-0 when the team shutout Webster University 4-0 in game two of the team's Florida training trip. Salve Regina established an early 1-0 lead after the first inning. Two Gorlok errors started the inning and Evan O'Rourke's double brought home Tyler Petrosino, after he advanced to third on an error. Senior pitcher Brayden Clark achieved his third win of the season after pitching for seven innings and delivering nine strikeouts. Clark recorded his first win of the season in the Seahawks 14-7 triumph over Ithaca College on February 23. He pitched for five innings. On March 1, when the team overcame the University of Southern Maine 5-1 in game one of a doubleheader Clark saw his second season win 13 strikeouts. This is the second all-time meeting between the Seahawks and Gorloks in program history with Webster winning in the first.
St. Olaf College and Luther College played to their second consecutive split, as the Oles took game one, 12-5, before the Norse claimed a 15-3 win in the finale of the four-game set on Sunday afternoon at Independence High School. The four-game split was the second in as many seasons for the Oles and Norse. St. Olaf scored in five of its six innings at the plate, including four multi-run frames, on its way to a 12-5 victory in the opener. Junior Breckin Hadley broke a 3-3 tie with a fourth-inning grand slam to send the Oles on their way to the win. St. Olaf took a 2-1 lead after one inning before Luther scored the next 14 runs by stringing together four multi-run innings. The Norse outhit the Oles by a 13-6 margin in the series finale and got home runs from three different hitters.
No. 6 Endicott downed Colby, 11-2, on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference neutral site matchup in Brighton, Mass. The Gulls rode a nine-run sixth inning rally to victory over Colby on Sunday afternoon. Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Kyle Grabowski got the Gulls on the board with a solo shot that soared well over the left field fence. Grabowski then highlighted the eventful sixth with both an RBI triple and a two-run single in the frame. Joey Frammartino also tripled to score two in the sixth. Danny MacDougall joined in on the hit parade with an RBI single past the Mules' third baseman in that 14-batter marathon inning. The Blue and Green tacked on another in the bottom of the seventh to cap off their 11-run afternoon. Brady Stuart (Hudson, Mass.) made his second start of the season and featured some of his premier stuff on the mound. Although he did not earn the win, he recovered from a bumpy two-run first inning with shut down second, third, and fourth innings (five strikeouts), and was eventually lifted for Bagshaw two outs into the top of the fifth.

UW-Oshkosh concluded its four-game series in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Sunday defeating Concordia Moorhead (Minn.) with a 8-7 walk-off victory. The Titans scored their eight runs on 14 hits with one error, while the Cobbers scored their seven runs on eight hits with three errors. Concordia Moorhead got on the board in the top of the fourth on a two-RBI single to bring the score to 3-2 before adding five runs in the top of the sixth, leading 7-3 by the end of the frame. The Titans started their comeback in the bottom of the sixth as Davis scored on a passed ball. After holding the Cobbers scoreless in the top of the seventh, the Titans added a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning. Zach Taylor drove in Stebane on a single, then scored on a single from McKellips. In the bottom of the ninth, Taylor drove in Stebane for the second time on the day on a triple, tying the score at 7-7. Housinger then walked the game off when he sent Taylor home on a single.
Catholic went into Sunday's rubber match against Coast Guard trying to take the series and move above .500 on the season. The Cardinals once again received a stellar pitching performance and the offense came up with several clutch hits throughout the game to earn a 9-0 win over the Bears and advance to 5-4 thus far this season. Sam Fairhurst completed six or more innings for the first time in his career while only allowing four hits and punching out three. Meara earned the first save of his career with three scoreless innings in relief. The Cardinals put the game to bed with a four run rally in the bottom of the eighth to push the lead up to 9-0, just needing three outs to close out a win. Jack Bateman came through once again, punching a single into center field to bring in two more runs, followed by Sammy Burman who also poked a two-run single into the outfield to cap off the Cardinals scoring. Mac Meara closed things out in the ninth inning with a strikeout to finish off the victory.
Fitchburg State rallied back after being down 6-2 to win a nonconference game against Delaware Valley 11-7. Delaware Valley jumped out to a 5-0 lead through the first two innings of play. Delaware would score their final run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo blast from Tyler Mellinger. After that home run, the Falcons' offense got hot as they would proceed to score seven runs between the eighth and ninth innings. Nolan Hills continued to see the ball well, picking up another two hits and a run batted in to get the final of 11-7.
Averett University earned two hard-fought victories against Hampden-Sydney College to start undefeated in ODAC play. Averett (9-3, 2-0 ODAC) swept Hampden-Sydney (4-9, 0-3 ODAC) as the Cougars secured their first conference wins of the season: 6-5 and 11-9. Sunday's battle of the big cats saw the Tigers land the opening blow in Game 1. Hampden-Sydney scored early to put Averett behind, something the Cougars have not had to deal with too often this season. Hampden-Sydney held a 4-1 advantage over Averett before the Cougars found their power swing. The Cougars grabbed a lead they would not relinquish in the seventh. Redshirt sophomore Trevor Testerman blasted a home run, the Cougars' second of the day to soar out of the confines of Wurdeman Stadium, to give Averett all of the insurance the team would need. Game 2 started with the Cougars and Tigers trading punches. Back-and-forth the two familiar foes fought, with Averett again responding with two runs to snatch back the lead. Averett's offense added insurance to send the Cougars to the 11-9 win.
Pomona-Pitzer cruised to a 13-5 win over Wisconsin-La Crosse Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field. Jack Gold led Pomona-Pitzer on offense with three hits, one single short of the cycle, and two RBIs. In total, the Sagehens posted 12 hits while holding the Eagles to five. Ethan Collins earned the win on the mound after giving up just three hits in 5.0 innings of work. UWL got on the board first in the opening frame, scoring four on three RBIs and an error. The Sagehens started to come back in the bottom of the inning, though, earning three runs off of RBIs from Berry and Hattenburg. Berry then launched a three-run homer in the second to give Pomona-Pitzer a 6-4 lead. The Sagehens kept their foot on the gas, with Ng hitting a two-run shot in the third and Sammy Lee driving in Lateef Wakil with a sac fly in the fourth. Gold then launched a two-run homer of his own in the fifth, as Pomona-Pitzer took an 11-4 advantage. Greg Pierantoni scored on a wild pitch in the sixth before Hattenburg scored on an error in the eighth, putting the Sagehens up 13-4. The Eagles got one run back in the ninth, but Pomona-Pitzer came away with the 13-5 win.
No. 4 Denison finished the Derby City Classic on Sunday, falling to Spalding in a 10-6 decision. The Big Red finished the weekend with a 2-1 record and moved to 7-2 overall. The Big Red racked up 13 hits but came up short after a late rally attempt. Senior outfielder Eric Colaco mashed a solo home run in the fourth inning to even up the score at 4-4. The Golden Eagles tacked on six runs over the next two innings. Erik Sundgren and Andrew Fazio knocked in a pair of RBIs but it was not enough to close the gap. The Big Red bullpen showed six arms today. They sat down four via strikeout and walked seven.
The late-game heroics continued for No. 19 Penn State Harrisburg, as Coy Schwanger's 400-foot RBI single to straightaway center field in the bottom of the ninth secured a 9-8 walk-off victory over Hartford at Christopher Newport's Captains Park on Sunday afternooon. The Lions (9-1) bounded out to a 6-0 lead after two innings but Hartford (4-5) chipped away in the middle stanzas before pulling ahead 8-6 in the top of the eighth, only for Penn State Harrisburg to rally in the bottom of the ninth and finish 3-0 on the weekend at CNU. The Hawks pounced in the eighth, using a hit by pitch, a wild pitch and a walk to begin the frame before a two-out single gave them their first lead of the day. After Bradyn Eckert struck out a pair of Hartford batters in the top of the ninth, the Lions went to work in the bottom half, starting with an Carlos Irizarry lead-off single to center field. Demetre Koutras worked a walk and a wild pitch moved the pair into scoring position. Sam Merchant followed with another walk and another wild pitch scored Irizarry from third. After a Blaine Waltimyer walk loaded the bases, Tim Haftl drove in the tying run with a sac fly to center field. Coy Schwanger pinch hit and worked a full count, before answering the call with a line drive over the head of the centerfielder that scored Merchant to seal the gutsy win.
Kalamazoo College defeated Elmhurst, 14-4, and Illinois Tech, 10-0, on Sunday, both run-rule victories. The Hornets have now won nine consecutive games and have scored 10 or more runs in the last six games. Kalamazoo led 2-1 after the first inning, 4-2 after three, and 7-4 after four. After a scoreless fifth and sixth, Kalamazoo added one in the seventh and six in the top of the eighth to go up 14-4. Elmhurst was retired in order in the bottom of the eighth. Kalamazoo scored three in the first, one in the second, and four in the fourth to take a 10-0 lead. The Scarlet Hawks were held to four hits and zero runs in the shortened game.
William Peace team staged a thrilling late-game comeback to secure a 4-3 victory over Westminster (Pa.) then secured a sweep with a 8-5 win in game two. Trailing 3-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, the Pacers came alive at the plate. After a leadoff single by Caden French and a failed pickoff attempt that advanced him to third, Jacob Herzberg drew a walk to put runners on the corners. Alex Levesque then delivered an RBI single up the middle, cutting the deficit to 3-2. The momentum continued when Nick Tubolino notched a two-run single to left center that plated Herzberg and pinch-runner Gabe Winham, giving William Peace a 4-3 lead. On the mound, starter Jarrett Hall turned in a stellar performance, working eight strong innings while allowing just two earned runs on seven hits. He kept the Titans' offense in check, inducing key outs and preventing any major scoring threats. Max Kasprowicz entered in the ninth to close things out, working around a pair of hits and a hit-by-pitch while striking out two. A dominant offensive performance led William Peace to an 8-5 victory over Westminster (Pa.) in game 2 on Sunday afternoon, as the Pacers racked up 17 hits and scored in six different innings to secure the win. On the mound, Jimmy Wormack tossed three solid innings while allowing just one run on one hit. The bullpen combined for six innings of relief, with Landon Coleman closing it out in the ninth.
Rutgers-Newark swept the Yellow Jackets of the University of Rochester on Sunday afternoon at Weequahic Park. The Scarlet Raiders improved to 4-5 on the season after a successful game of ball. In a dominant performance on Sunday afternoon, Rutgers-Newark defeated the University of Rochester 12-4 at home in game one of the doubleheader. The Scarlet Raiders took control early and never looked back, powered by an 18-hit attack and a stellar pitching performance from Matthew King (3-0). In an exciting back-and-forth contest, Rutgers-Newark baseball emerged victorious over Rochester in Game 2 of their doubleheader, securing a 7-5 win on Sunday afternoon. The game featured momentum swings, with both teams trading leads throughout, but the Scarlet Raiders ultimately came out on top with a strong finish.
The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy opened a six-game Florida trip by splitting a doubleheader against Monmouth College. After earning a 3-2 win in walk-off fashion to start the day, the Mariners dropped the second game by an 18-10 score. USMMA moved to 2-4 on the season, while Monmouth moved to 4-4. Freshman Ben Taylor started the seventh-inning rally with a leadoff single before sophomore Landon Troutt was plunked. After Braden Vazquez knotted the score at 2-2 with a one-out RBI single, Monmouth went to the bullpen and Jack Millen won the game with an RBI single to right field. A USMMA error in the first led to eight unearned runs and set the tone for an eventual 18-10 defeat. The Fighting Scots had an answer to every Mariner punch and went on to win by the final 18-10 margin.
Held to only five hits in a game one 9-2 loss Sunday, Amherst College reversed its fate in the nightcap of the twinbill, knocking out 11 hits in an 11-2 win over Ramapo College and gaining a split on the Roadrunners' Jeff Maund Field. Jack Boyle, Ryan McIntyre and Aiden Dubetsky each had two hits in the win for Amherst, which had 11 hits total in the victory, which evend the Mammoths' record at 2-2. Ramapo moved to 4-2 with the game two loss. In the opener, James Pazdera (2-0) did not give up a hit in six innings of action while he surrendered one unearned run. He tallied four strikeouts and five walks. Ryan Lasko earned the three-inning save as he struck out one, walked none and let up five hits and one run. In the nightcap, Amherst took a quick lead in the top of the first inning with an RBI single from Ryan McIntyre before they added three runs in the third inning. Ramapo got on the board in the bottom of the third with a solo home run from Swartout. Each team added one in the seventh before the Mammoths recorded two runs in the eighth and four in the ninth for an 11-2 score. In Ramapo's half of the seventh, Baronian knocked in Swartout with an RBI single to left field.
