More news about: Farmingdale State

Hoboken, N.J. - The Farmingdale State baseball team fell 12-3 to Stevens (13-7) on Thursday night in a non-conference game held in Hoboken, N.J. Senior catcher Frank Scarlato (Holbrook, N.Y.) hit his first career homerun for the Rams, who drop to 13-8 overall.

In the first inning, Stevens put two runs on the board on a two RBI double to left center by sophomore left fielder Dan Allen (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.). Scarlato tied the game, 2-2, with his two-run homerun in the top of the second, but the Ducks would score four runs on five hits and an error in the bottom of the inning to hold the 6-2 lead after two.

The Rams got a run back in the third on senior third baseman Ryan McAllister's (Miller Place, N.Y.) single, but Stevens would allow just three hits over the final six innings as junior pitcher Kevin Mathews (Jackson, N.J.) took the victory in 5.1 innings of work.

McAllister and Scarlato both went 2-for-3 in the game, while junior first baseman Ron Remi (Massapequa, N.Y.) and junior centerfielder Terrence Bohonan (Patchogue, N.Y.) recorded one hit each. Sophomore pitcher Matt DeRamo (Smithtown, N.Y.) pitched four innings of relief with four strikeouts and no walks.

Farmingdale State will now host Old Westbury in a Skyline Conference doubleheader on Saturday, March 31 at Noon.
