LA VERNE, CA — Adam Santa Cruz and Christopher Peres combined for 12 RBI and the University of La Verne baseball team scored a pair of wins over the visiting Bowdoin Polar Bears on Tuesday.

With the wins, the Leopards improve to 12-6 overall and have won five of their last six. The Polar Bears drop to 0-10.
Game One: La Verne 7, Bowdoin 6 (Seven Innings)
The Leopards scored five runs in the fifth inning to overcome an early 4-0 deficit in game one.
Santa Cruz led the Leopards with a pair of hits and three RBI
The catcher got the rally started in the fifth, doubling to right to bring Tanner Siffert and Tanner Browning across the plate.
Peres stepped up next and brought in Santa Cruz with a single to center.
Christopher Ligot capped off the inning with a single that scored both Santa Cruz and Peres.
La Verne scored two more runs the next inning off another Santa Cruz RBI and off an error that sent Ryan Galan across the plate in what proved to be the difference maker.
Alfredo Frey was effective in five and two-thirds innings of relief, striking out three and picking up the win.
Game Two: La Verne 12, Bowdoin 1 (Seven Innings)
Peres drove in five runs and Santa Cruz added three RBI as the Leopards dominated the backend of the doubleheader.
Peres added the highlight of the game for the Leopards, hitting a three-run homer over the left field fence to put La Verne up 11-1. He notched his first two RBI of the game in the fifth when he doubled in Santa Cruz and Siffert.
Santa Cruz added an RBI in the third, fifth, and sixth innings.
Brandon Shiota, Brandon Vogel, and Tanner Browning each finished with an RBI.
La Verne's pitching staff didn't allow a hit through the first five innings.
Tyler Agajanian picked up the win pitching three and two-thirds innings of relief, striking out six.

The Leopards return to SCIAC play with a home game against Caltech this Friday at 3 p.m.
