LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - After starting the year on an 11-game homestand, the Sewanee baseball team was in uncharted territory for the first time in the new decade, having to play a contest away from Montgomery Field. The Tigers were defeated by the Scots of Covenant College, 16-3, from the Covenant Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Scots got out to a strong start, posting nine runs on five hits in the bottom of the first, capped by a grand slam by CJ Edmond.
-In the next half inning, Jared Demkowicz launched a solo homer to right field to put Sewanee on the board, but the home team added four more runs in the second and one in the third to lead 14-1 after three innings.
-The visitors added two runs in the fourth thanks to an RBI double by Jack Galanek and a run-scoring play by Shane Smith via a wild pitch.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Jared Demkowicz and Jack Galanek each posted two hits and an RBI. Demkowicz added two runs scored and free passes each.
COVENANT KEY STATISTICS
-Hunter Christian led the Scots with three hits and RBI each, while Tyler Moore posted three his and runs scored each.
-Nick Pettit (1-2) tossed five innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs.

The Tigers will next start a five-game homestand on Saturday with a doubleheader against Rose-Hulman.
