Van Dam Pitches 6 Scoreless Innings, Hatton Tabs 4 Hits as Polars Grab 9-6 Victory

Auburndale, Florida - The Polars Baseball team faced off with Roger Williams University on Sunday and would come out with a 9-6 victory. 

Roger Williams scored the first two runs of the game in the top of the 1st inning. Crown would answer right back with 3 runs of their own to take the lead, off of a Seth Betts single scoring a few. The Polars tacked on three more runs in the 2nd inning with an Ashton Long double driving in two runs and a fielders choice scoring the other. Roger Williams tied it up with a grand slam in the top of the third inning. Crown once again would respond with a two run home run from Howie Hatton and a groundout scoring Betts. The scoring ended there early in the game with the next six inning scoreless on both ends and Crown got the win 9-6.

Four Polars had multi hit games with Howie Hatton leading the offensive effort. Hatton went 4-5 on the day adding 2 RBI's scoring 2 runs with a double and a home run in the contest. Cael Magill went 2-4 scoring 2 runs, Rhys Dewick and Tristen Ciarlo both added two hits of their own as well. Seth Betts stole two bases for Crown. The Polars totaled 12 hits.

Ryan Vondracek started on the mound for Crown and pitched three innings. He was replaced by Jacob Van Dam in the 4th and Van Dam only gave up 2 hits not allowing a run to score through six innings adding his second win of the season.

The Polars move to 4-2 on the season and will take on Central College in a double header on Tuesday, March 14th at 8:15am and 10:45am.
