Arnesen earns Eastern League POTW

Erik Arnesen was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 17th round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

Grove City '06 alumus and Harrisburg Senators' pitcher, Erik Arnesen, was named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending August 14. This is the second Player of the Week award for a D-III player on the Senators' squad as outfielder Archie Griffin (Cal State East Bay) was named the Batter of the Week for the week ending May 8.

Arnesen went 2-0 in two starts against Richmond and Trenton. In 14.0 innings, he struckout 17 batters. In the start against Trenton, Arnesen pitched 7.0 shutout innings allowing four hits and striking out a season-high 10 batters. For the week, Arnesen led all Eastern League pitchers in strikeouts and innings pitched.

Arnesen has posted an 8-3 record with a 2.36 ERA, third-best in the Nationals organization, in 2011. As a Eastern League All-Star, The 27-year old struck out the side in his only appearance at the 2011 Northeast Delta Dental Eastern League All Star Game.
