Williams named Bobcats' head coach

Director of Athletics and Recreation Anthony Berich is pleased to announce Anthony Williams as the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg’s head baseball coach.  Berich made the announcement official on August 11, 2011.

Aside from being the Bobcats new head coach, Williams currently works in the Video and Advanced Scouting department for the Pittsburgh Pirates where he is responsible for assisting with preparing advanced scouting reports and video for the Pirates Major League Affiliate.

Most recently at the collegiate level, Williams was an Assistant Baseball Coach at NCAA Division I UMBC, where he worked primarily with hitters and infielders while also specializing in base running and speed/agility.

During the two previous seasons, Williams was the top Assistant Baseball Coach at NCAA Division III Frostburg State University.  Williams served as the recruiting coordinator and 1st base coach, while also specializing in hitting and infield play.

In 2010, Williams helped produce four all-conference players, including 2nd team All-American second baseman Matt Greene and AMCC pitcher of the year Britton Quayle.    In addition, the Bobcats matched the school record for wins in a season with 32 en route to capturing the 2010 AMCC Regular Season Championship

Prior to Frostburg State Williams worked as an intern with the Bowie Baysox “AA” affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles and the Baseball Factory, a recruiting service for high school players. Williams was also an instructor and advisor for the BATT Academy, an indoor baseball training facility in Glen Burnie, MD.

Williams played collegiate baseball at NCAA Division II Slippery Rock University (PA) and also played four seasons in the Eddie Brooks League with the Maryland Hurricanes.

A native of Pasadena, Maryland and 2003 graduate of Northeast High School, he helped lead the Eagles baseball team to the 3A Maryland State Championship in 2001.

Williams earned his MBA from Frostburg State University and holds a BS in Sport Management from Slippery Rock University.
