CHICAGO – North Park captured its first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Tournament title in 22 years after an 8-4 victory over Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday.

The win earned the Vikings the CCIW’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Baseball Regional, their first NCAA postseason appearance since 1990. Pairings will be announced on Monday via NCAA.com.

North Park came into the tournament having won the regular season title with a 13-7 conference record, its second-straight and first outright title since 1990. It was also the sixth regular season title in school history (’83, ’84, ’87, ’90, ’11, ’12).

On Saturday, North Park needed two games to win its third tournament title in school history (’87, ’90, ’12), losing the first to the Titans, 11-5, before winning the title in the final game of the double-elimination tournament.

The Vikings came in as the No. 1 seed and won their first two games, a 4-3 victory against fourth-seeded Augustana on Thursday, followed by an 11-4 win over second-seeded Illinois Wesleyan on Friday.
