MILTON, Mass. – Curry College Athletic
Director Vinnie
Eruzione has announced the appointment of Dave
Perdios as head baseball coach. Perdios had previously
led the Colonels' baseball program for 12 seasons (1999-2010). Jay
Schnabel coached the Colonels for two years going 17-24 in 2011 and
18-24 in 2012.
“It is with much excitement that we welcome Dave back to our
school and our department,” said Eruzione. “The
decision to bring him back was an easy one given his prior
accomplishments on our campus.”
Coach Perdios enjoyed great success during his first stint at
Curry. He compiled a 12-year record of 236-162-4. He led the
Colonels to four regular-season Commonwealth Coast Conference
titles (2005, 2007, 2009, 2010); a CCC Tournament title and
first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament (2007);
back-to-back 30-win campaigns (2009, 2010), including a
school-record 34 wins and 21 league wins in 2009. Also in 2009, his
squad led the nation with a .370 team batting average. In 2010, he
led Curry to the ECAC Division III New England Championship.
Perdios was named as CCC Coach of the Year three times (2005,
2007, 2009). He also mentored four-consecutive CCC Players of the
Year between 2007 and 2010.
Said Eruzione: “Dave's goals – conference
championships and NCAA Tournament appearances – are second
only to his desire to guide our student-athletes to do well in the
classroom, in the community, and in life.”
In 1980, Perdios graduated from Brandeis University, where he also
enjoyed a standout four-year baseball career. He helped guide the
Judges to four Greater Boston League Championships, four New
England Regional Tournament appearances and one Division III World
Series berth.
He received first team All-American honors his junior and senior
years, and was named to the All-New England College Baseball team
both years as well. Perdios also received the prestigious Brandeis
Outstanding Student Athlete Award during graduation ceremonies in
1980, and is now a member of the school's Athletic Hall of
Fame.
After earning his bachelor's degree, Perdios spent the next 15
years coaching baseball at North Quincy High School and the
Morrisette Legion team.
Perdios is the Director of Parks and Recreation for the Town of
Milton and a Milton resident.
