Illinois Wesleyan opened its season with a come-from-behind 6-4 win in 10 innings against No. 8-ranked Adrian in Birmingham, Ala., on Saturday. The Titans scored two in 10th when Kevin Callahan walked and Bobby Czarnowski singled. A.J. Nathan then singled to left to bring in Callahan and Czarnowki scored on an error by the leftfielder.

Fifth-ranked Christopher Newport evened their weekend USA South series with LaGrange with a 10-4 win over the Panthers in Williamson Stadium at Cleaveland Field.

The Trinity (Texas) Tigers opened a SCAC weekend series with a doubleheader split at Centenary (La.). Trinity opened the day with a 3-0 shutout victory to extend the team's winning streak to nine games, but then Centenary hammered out an 11-1 win in eight innings (run rule) to earn the split. Ryan Lucero pitched his second straight shutout to lead the Tigers to victory in the opener.  Lucero struck out five and allowed just two hits in the game. Taylor Henry registered the win for the Gents with a complete-game effort. Henry allowed five hits and four walks in the outing.

Huntingdon knocked off the 2010 national champion and the 10th-ranked team in Division III on Saturday. Huntingdon opened the day with a 10-6 win over Illinois Wesleyan and closed the day with a 4-3 win in 10 innings against 10th-ranked Birmingham-Southern. The two wins came a day after the Hawks (11-5) downed eighth-ranked Adrian College 6-5.

Junior right hander Eddie Nogay tossed a two-hit shutout to lead Washington & Jefferson to a 6-0 victory over Bethany during game one of its season-opening doubleheader at Ross Memorial Park. Nogay struck out six and did not walk a batter in seven innings of work, earning the third complete-game shutout of his career. He did not allow a Bison base runner to advance past second base. The Presidents recorded 16 hits and routed the Bison 18-0 in game two.

A one-out ninth inning single by Hunter Gallant spoiled a no-hit bid by Aaron Thomassen,  but Linfield survived a ninth-inning rally for the second time in a one-week span to win both ends of a doubleheader over Willamette at John Lewis Field. In the opening game of the day, Chris Haddeland efficiently cruised through nine innings. The Wildcats’ ace allowed one run on four hits with no walks and three strikeouts. 

Saint Joseph's (Maine) kicked off the 2013 campaign with a pair of convincing victories over Rhode Island in RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. The Monks opened the year with a 9-1 triumph and closed out opening day with an 11-0, five-inning win over the Anchormen.

Texas-Tyler has begun ASC play in perfect form, sweeping a three-game series with Mississippi College.  On Saturday, the Patriots won 2-1, 7-2 to improve to 3-0 in conference play. Game two of the series, the first on Saturday, was a pitcher's duel dominated by starters Jordan Marah and Mack Murray. In the final game of the series, the Patriots opened up a tight 3-1 game in the eigth inning, scoring four runs in the bottom half, putting the game away.

Kean used a five run sixth inning to propel them past La Verne by the final of 8-6. Junior Joe O'Connor led the offense with a 2-for-4 day and two RBI.  He was one of four Cougars with a multi-hit afternoon as Kean tallied 12 hits in the win.

Casey Hood led Susquehanna to a 4-1 upset of No. 13 Keystone.

Susquehanna rode an outstanding pitching outing from Casey Hood on on their way to a 4-1 upset victory over 13th ranked Keystone in non-conference action. Casey Hood went 8.2 innings allowing only four hits while striking out nine Giants and allowing one unearned run. Matt Smith  came in the ninth with the bases loaded to complete the win and earning his second save of the season.

Bridgewater (Va.) improved to 4-0 in the conference by sweeping a doubleheader from Virginia Wesleyan. The Eagles won the opener 9-5 and then slipped past the Marlins 10-9 in the second game. With the victories, the Eagles have now won nine straight games and are 9-1 overall.

Whitworth defeated Puget Sound twice in a doubleheader on, 4-2 and 8-3. The Loggers scored first in both games but couldn’t hold off the hosts late in the game. In game one errors led to all four Pirate runs in the game as Whitworth came out on top of a pitcher’s duel in the series-opener.  The Pirates exploded for 11 runs over the seventh and eighth to come away with the game two win.
