Worcester, Mass. – Clark University hurler Derek Dubois (Haverhill, Mass.) has quite an impressive start to his 2013 summer league season.

Playing for the North Shore Navigators of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League, Dubois has seen action in four contests, going 2-0 with a 0.60 ERA.

Last night (Thursday, June 27) he made his second start of the season, going seven innings, allowing six hits and just one earned run while striking out nine in the Navigators 7-2 win over the Brockton Rox. The nine K's for Dubois tie a single-game league-high mark with NEWMAC rival Nick Filloramo of Wheaton College, who pitches for the Wachusett Dirt Dogs. For his efforts, Dubois was named the FCBL Pitcher of the Night even though he didn't factor into the decision in the contest.

"Derek has been a great addition to our starting rotation," said Navigators' pitching coach Sam Grainger. "He has consistently thrown strikes with all of his pitches and has been able to keep hitters off balance."

Dubois actually picked up his first win in relief when he tossed a one-hit inning in a 6-5 win over the Dirt Dogs back on June 8.

His other victory came on June 22 in a 2-1 win over the Martha's Vineyard Sharks. In that matchup, he yielded just three hits and no runs in six innings of work.

In 15 innings pitched so far this season, he leads the league in wins (2), ranks second in ERA (0.60) and has a 3.5-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio.
