Justin Morrison, Andrew Martin, and Lex Estes combined on a seven inning no-hitter on Tuesday February 18 as the Quakers swept the Maine-Presque Isle Owls. Guilford won the game 12-2. It was almost a doubleheader no-hit performance as Guilford hurlers Borja Jones-Berasaluce, Chad Wagoner and Devin Ponton combined for a one-hit performance in the 11-0 game one win.

Guilford's Justin Morrison fanned five of the first six batters he faced in the second game, before walking three batters in the third. Mitch Thayer scored the Owls' first run of the day on a Shane Smith fielder's choice and Justin Bergeron scored on the same play via a throwing error.

UMPI's runs made it a 6-2 game as Guilford scored three in the first and three unearned runs in the second innings. Grayson Tuttle smacked a two-run homer in the first and added a run-scoring double in the fourth. He finished with three hits and three RBI, both career and game highs. Tyler Petersen also had three hits for Guilford.

Andrew Martin replaced Morrison after the Owls score their runs in the third. He retired all 10 batters he faced in succession to earn his first win of the season. Lex Estes retired the side in order in the seventh to end the game.

In the opener, the Quakers jumped on Owls' starter Andrew Bartlett for five runs in the first inning of game one. Sophomore Charles Noble's towering three-run homer was the key blast. John Macon Smith greeted reliever Oz Sailors with a run-scoring single in the second to open a 6-0 Guilford lead.

The runs were more than enough for Guilford hurlers Borja Jones-Berasaluce, Chad Wagoner and Devin Ponton. Jones-Berasaluce yielded a one-out single to Josiah Brazier in the third, which proved the Owls' lone hit in the game. The trio combined for eight strikeouts in the seven-inning game, three by Ponton in his lone inning of work.

Herc Ingels' three hits sparked the offense in game one. Nathan Fulbright had two hits and three RBI.

Guilford (5-3) has won three straight games and five of its last six contests. Maine-Presque Isle fell to 0-3. The teams play again Wednesday in a single nine-inning contest added to the schedule earlier this week.
