As announced by Athletic Director Jonathan Tymann, Rob Mansfield has been named Gordon's head baseball coach effective August 2014. Mansfield first joined the Fighting Scots as an assistant in December of 2012.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to lead the Gordon College Baseball team and continue the growth our program has shown over the past four years," said Mansfield. "Our goal every day will be to honor God by competing as hard as we can on and off the field. As an alumnus, I truly value what being a part of Gordon College and our athletic department means. The Christian commitment, academic quality, and athletic experience make this place truly special."

During his tenure as an assistant, Mansfield helped coach the Scots to a program-best 19 wins in the 2014 season, surpassing the previously tied mark of 16 wins met in 2013. In that same time, the Fighting Scots established 13 new individual and school records, placed eight players on the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Team and one player on the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Team.

In addition to his contributions on the diamond at Gordon, Mansfield has worked for the past four years as an admissions counselor, athletics recruiter, and assistant admissions director for the College.

Outside of Gordon, he served as a head coach in the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Baseball League this past summer, guiding the Barracudas to a third place finish overall. He has also interned with the Lakewood BlueClaws, a Low-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, and was an instructor in Mike Condon's School of Baseball in New Jersey.

Mansfield graduated from Gordon in 2010 with degrees in business administration and communication arts.

Said Tymann of his hire, "I am thrilled for our baseball program and our department to have Coach Mansfield join us as a full time head coach. He has been a significant part of our forward progress in the past four years through his dual roles in admissions and as an assistant coach. We expect the positive momentum to continue in this new role as he builds upon the quality foundation that Coach Rypel started."

Mansfield inherits a program that went 19-17 overall, 7-9 in the CCC during the 2014 campaign.
