AUSTIN -- The UT Tyler baseball team completed a perfect-run through the 2015 American Southwest Conference championship, defeating Texas Dallas 6-5 in the championship game on Saturday.

Senior Buddy McCoy was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, while Sam Lane, Michael Blevins, and Chad Hayes were all named to the All-Tournament team.

Texas Dallas (29-17) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, and extended the lead to 4-0 in the fourth inning with three hits and three runs scored.

The Patriots (34-10) scored their first run in the fourth on a sacrifice-fly by Alex Bishop, scoring Sam Lane who led off the inning with a triple.  The UT Tyler offense would not stop there, taking a 6-4 lead in the fifth inning by scoring five runs on five hits.

Logan Tucker would drive in a run with a sac-fly, while Blake Bonnin's double would score a pair to make it 4-3 Texas Dallas.  Sam Lane and Douglas Kinsey would also drive in runs, giving the Patriots a 6-4 lead.

The rest was up to the UT Tyler staff which has been dominant in the ASC tournament, as set-up man Chris Stodolka and closer Chad Hayes would secure the win for the Patriots in the final two innings.

Lane finished the game with a team-high three hits, while Reid Coover finished with two hits.  Tyler Stallings pitched 3.1 innings to pick up his third win of the season, while Hayes notched his 13th save of the year.

The ASC tournament championship is the fourth for the UT Tyler program, and first since the 2013 season.  UT Tyler will now prepare to host the 2015 NCAA Div. III Baseball Regional beginning May 13 in Tyler.
