Rain washes out Thursday

Rose-Hulman scored five runs in the second and ninth innings and added six runs in the seventh to handle nationally ranked North Central (Ill.) 20-1 on Thursday afternoon. lost in all the scoring, Joey Callahan scattered five hits over five innings with four strikeouts to pick up the victory.  Gunnar Hutchison, Trevor Dallio and Ian Grant combined for four shutout innings to secure the win.

Matt Reitz tossed seven strong innings and Covenant used big hits from Trenton Nobles and Caleb Bloye to defeat visiting Piedmont 5-2 in the USA South series opener. Covenant has won eight of its last nine games.

Millikin picked up a non-conference road win downing Eureka 14-7 in Eureka, Illinois. Julian Gutierrez was 3-4 on the game with a home run and two doubles along with five RBIs.  Ryne Bundy was 3-5 with two RBIs. Luke Azzarelli was 2-4 with three runs scored.

Farmingdale State had a season-high 22 hits in tonight's 16-1 non-conference victory over Baruch. Joshua Shapiro was 5-for-6 with a run scored and 2 RBI, while Brandon Snow was 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and triple, scored three runs, had 3 RBI and stole two bases.

St. Olaf swept Northwestern (Minn.) in a doubleheader at Reynolds Field. Both team jockeyed for the lead in the opening game, with St. Olaf securing a 10-5 victory on a six run fourth inning. St. Olaf won the second game of the doubleheader 8-4, stringing together three multiple run innings.

Andy Brahier hit a home run and drove in five runs, Johnny Eagan and Trent Whitcomb collected four hits apiece, and UW-Oshkosh defeated Concordia (Wisc.), 17-5, in seven innings in Mequon. UW-Oshkosh, playing its first game in 14 days, scored multiple runs in each of the first five innings and registered 22 hits. The Titans tallied four runs in the first, second and third innings before tacking on three in the fourth frame and two in the fifth for a 17-1 lead.

Bridgewater scored 17 runs on 16 base hits to defeat Mary Washington, 17-4, in a non-conference game shortened to eight innings due to darkness. Bridgewater outfielder Kenner Berry continued to produce at the plate, finishing the game 3-for-3 with a pair of two-run homers and two walks.
