GREENSBURG, Pa:  The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team celebrated their senior class on Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of Pitt-Bradford.  They'd blank Bradford 3-0 in the opener then follow with a 4-2 victory in game two.

The Bobcats improve to 7-1 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, slide into sole possession of second place, and move their overall mark to 15-11 after Saturday's results.  Pitt-Bradford falls to 2-6 in conference play and 7-15 on the season.

Game One:

The seniors made their presence felt in game one, highlighted by a dominating pitching performance by senior starter Brandon Rowland (Greensburg, PA, Greensburg Salem) that held the Panthers scoreless over the seven inning opener.  He'd allow just two hits on the afternoon while striking out six Panthers to pick up his fourth win of the season.

A senior would play a part in each run scored as well, beginning with an Adam Dodson (Bethel Park, PA, Bethel Park) one-run single that scored fellow senior Matt Germanoski (Ellwood City, PA, Ellwood City) in the bottom of the second inning.

Pitt-Greensburg would double their lead an inning later on a Ryan Dodson (Bethel Park, PA, Bethel Park) single that brought senior Greg Lynn (Ellwood City, PA, Ellwood City) in for a 2-0 score.

Anthony Bozzuto (Greensburg, PA, Hempfield) capped the opener's scoring with a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth to bring us to the 3-0 final in favor of the Bobcats.

Pitt-Greensburg outhit their counterparts by a 10-2 margin with Chris Common (Trafford, PA, Penn-Trafford), Ryan Dodson, Mike Parlak (Connellsville, PA, Connellsville), and Adam Dodson all finishing 2-3.

Game Two:

The Bobcats got things going early in the nightcap, plating a pair of first inning runs to jump out to a 2-0 lead.  Lynn would score the first followed by a Bozzuto RBI-single that brought in Common for the second.

The Panthers got on the board with a top of the second run, but Matt Moyer (Greensburg, PA, Hempfield) would push UPG back to a two run lead by sending a solo shot over the outfield fence for a 3-1 Bobcat advantage.

Another Common run crossed home in the bottom of the third to stretch the score to 4-1.

Bradford mustered another run in the seventh but would be held scoreless in the eighth and ninth innings, leading to their second loss of the day at the hands of the Bobcats.

UPG tallied nine game two hits with Common leading the way with a 2-3 performance including a double and two runs scored.  Bozzuto also tallied a pair of hits while adding a RBI.

For the second straight game, the Bobcats got some stingy work from their pitching staff.  Cam Smith (Mars, PA, Mars Area) improves to 4-1 on the year after picking up the win on Saturday.  He'd go the first six innings and give up two runs on four hits while striking out three.  Ian Hart (Lititz, PA, Warwick) stepped in for a pair of scoreless innings before making way for Joe Zufall (Bethel Park, PA, Bethel Park) to earn the save.  Zufall sat the Panthers down 1-2-3 in the ninth for his second save of the season.

With the sweep, head coach Anthony Williams earns his 100th win.  The Bobcat skipper reaches the century mark in just his fifth season at the helm.
