QUINCY, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene College Director of Athletics Dr. Brad Zarges has announced the hiring of Kameron Konert as head baseball coach.

"The opportunity to bring Kameron Konert to ENC to lead the baseball program will immediately allow us to move to new levels of success. The mentors he has had as a player and assistant coach have provided incredible growth personally and professionally," stated Zarges. "Coach Konert's understanding of how faith informs his work as a coach is outstanding. We welcome Kameron to Eastern Nazarene College and to the ENC Athletic Department."

Konert joins the Lions after serving as an assistant coach at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania for three years. He also served as the Recreation and Wellness Coordinator, Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach and Physical Education instructor during his time at Geneva.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Konert to Eastern Nazarene. Kameron's experience as an athlete and a coach coupled with his deep desire to mentor athletes in their Christian journey make him uniquely prepared to teach and coach at ENC," commented Jeff Kirksey, Vice President of Student Development and Retention.

A 2013 graduate of Houghton College, Konert holds the distinction as the first signee of the Highlanders' newly-formed baseball program which began play in 2012. He served as a co-captain for two seasons at Houghton while also initiating several community service projects.

With the Highlanders, Konert pitched 89 innings and racked up 45 strikeouts in two years while also collecting 41 hits, 27 RBIs and scoring 25 runs.

"I am very excited to continue my coaching career as the head coach at Eastern Nazarene College: a place where I can serve Christ while influencing the lives of student-athletes on and off the field. I have big goals for the program and believe I am well prepared for this opportunity," said Konert. "The ENC athletic department is heading in the right direction, so I feel blessed to be a part of the journey."

Konert began his collegiate athletic career at NCAA Division I FCS member Davidson College as a fullback on the Wildcats' football team before transferring to Ithaca College to play running back.

A native of Bolivar, New York, Konert earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Houghton before completing his Master's degree in Higher Education at Geneva.
