CAROL STREAM, Ill. — When the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota baseball team took the field Friday afternoon against Aurora, it had been nearly two weeks since the Cardinals had closed out a 7-3 showing during its 10-game spring trip to Auburndale, Fla.
 
The two-week layoff, however, did nothing to slow the Cardinals—or junior pitcher R.J. Brown (Broadview, Ill.)—as Brown tossed a seven-inning, complete-game no-hitter, leading the Cardinals to a 10-0 victory over the Spartans in the first of three games at the Wheaton Round-Robin Tournament at Lee Pfund Stadium.
 
Brown was literally unhittable in recording his first collegiate complete game—let alone no-hitter—striking out six and not walking a batter in leading Saint Mary's to the victory.
 
And Saint Mary's certainly gave Brown plenty of run support, scoring three runs in both the first and fourth innings, before icing the win with a four-run seventh.
 
The Cardinals did not waste any time getting its offense rolling—taking advantage of four first-inning walks, and a two-run, two-out single by Dirk Drohner (Plover, Wis.)—to grab a 3-0 lead after the opening inning.
 
Saint Mary's doubled its lead—thanks to a pair of run-scoring doubles—in the fourth, and Will Matthews (Geneva, Ill.) and Joe Seegers (Oconomowoc, Wis.) delivered run-scoring singles, while Justin Weinberg (Eagan, Minn.) added an RBI single, to push the Cardinals' lead to 6-0 after four complete.
 
And Saint Mary's iced the victory, getting back-to-back two-run home runs from Matthews and Jake Barry (Tinley Park, Ill.) to seal the victory.
 
Seegers, Drohner, Matthews, Zach Slowiak (Chippewa Falls, Wis.) all posted two hits to pace the Cardinals' 11-hit attack.
 
The Cardinals (8-3 overall) are back in action at 5 p.m. Friday evening, squaring off against host Wheaton.
