San Antonio - Trinity (Texas) started its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend series with a lopsided win over Austin (TX) College, which included a no-hitter from senior Dylan McGee.

The Tigers hammered out 22 hits on their way to a 19-0 victory, but it was McGee's pitching gem that was the highlight of the night.

McGee allowed just two walks in the game, and was perfect for the first 11 batters.

Scott Walters set the tone on offense with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first, sparking Trinity to a five-run inning.  

The Tigers added two more in the second and third to make it a 9-0 game, then expoded for six runs on seven hits in the fourth.

George Haaland hit a towering home run in the fifth for the only Tiger run of that inning, then three more runs came across to finish the scoring in the bottom of the sixth.

NOTABLES

The Tigers improved to 21-14 and 10-6 in the SCAC, and the win also clinched a berth in the SCAC Tournament for Trinity.  Austin College fell to 12-23 and 6-10 SCAC with the loss.

Dylan McGee improved his season record to 4-2 with his first career no-hitter, recording 11 strikeouts, and allowing just two walks.  He threw 96 pitches in the game, including 61 strikes.

The game marks Trinity's first no-hitter since 2015, when Ryan Gray, Chris Tate, Troy Nelson, and Taylor Hoesen combined to allow zero hits against Schreiner.  It is the first solo no-hitter for the Tigers since Chuck Huggins held Hendrix hitless in 2006.

The 22 hits by the Tigers were the second-most this season, as were the 19 runs scored.  

George Haaland went 3-3 at the plate, while driving in three runs and scoring three more. Haaland also blasted his fourth home run of the season.

Blake Frampton batted 2-2, with three RBI and two runs scored, while Jake Martin had three hits to go with two runs and two RBI.

Scott Walters led off the game with his first home run of the season, picking up two hits, two RBI, and three runs scored. He also crushed his team-best fourth triple of the year.

The Tigers and Kangaroos conclude their series Saturday with a doubleheader, starting at 1:00 p.m. Trinity's seniors will be honored prior to the opener.
