In a doubleheader loss to St. Olaf, Carleton's Willie Frimuth took the field in the nightcap playing each position starting as catcher in the first and ending the game on the mound in the ninth.

Sam Stuckmayer and Jake Mathison each homered twice as visiting St. Olaf swept an MIAC baseball series from Carleton, 4-1 and 5-2, on Wednesday afternoon. Mathison was 3-for-4 as the Oles broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run fifth inning to defeat Carleton 4-1. Stuckmayer's two-run homer was a part of the Oles' rally in the fifth. Mathison and Stuckmayer hit back-to-back homers in the eighth inning to undo a 2-2 tie to help the Oles to a 5-2 win and sweep.
Merchant Marine sophomore pitcher Andrew Spinnenweber threw a complete game, two-hit shutout, leading #6 Merchant Marine to a 2-0 victory over #3 Farmingdale State in the Skyline first round. The Rams was eliminated from the playoffs, while the Mariners advance to the double-elimination tournament hosted by top-seed St. Joseph's-LI.
Otterbein got itself back into gear on the road, sweeping a twin bill at No. 5-ranked Wooster by scores of 3-1 and 14-6. The Cardinals, coming off a disappointing pair of losses against Heidelberg this past Sunday, rebounded in high form and improves to 26-12 on the season as a result. The team will now turn its attention to Muskingum this coming Friday, where they most likely need to sweep the OAC doubleheader in order to make the league's four-team postseason tournament. Otterbein does not hold potential tiebreakers in the case of a split and Heidelberg or John Carroll winning their matchups.
No. 17 Washington & Jefferson rallied for three runs in the bottom of the eighth to break a 3-3 tie and earn a 6-3 win over nonconference foe Frostburg State. After surrendering three runs on three hits to the Bobcats in the top of the eighth inning, the W&J rally began in the bottom half of the inning began when Nick Vento led off with a single to right field, his fourth hit of the afternoon. He then advanced to second on a wild pitch, moved up to third on a single from Frank Fortunato and came in to score on another wild pitch to get the lead back for the Presidents.
On a day that started with rain, ended with rain, and rained at all points in between, the turf on Joe Brooks Field allowed the doubleheader between Illinois College and Knox to continue and the Blueboys were able to end the 2017 season with 6-5 and 9-8 wins over the Prairie Fire. Illinois College closes out the season with an overall record of 11-23 (6-14 Midwest Conference). Knox slips to 13-16 (6-10 MWC).
The Pitt-Bradford punched its postseason ticket, sweeping Medaille to secure the final spot in the AMCC tournament. The Panthers won a suspended game one, 18-1, and prevailed 5-0 in the nightcap. Ryan Northcott quickly closed out the opener, pitching around a leadoff single to finish off his fourth win of the season. He was the starter in the game played on March 30 and yielded four hits, walked one and struck out three in seven total innings. Tasked with pitching his team to a playoff berth, sophomore right-hander Ryan Boyer was dominant, surrendering five hits over eight scoreless innings in game two. He pitched into the ninth before running into trouble after allowing the first two hitters to reach.
The 25th-ranked St. Scholastica extended its perfect conference record to 14-0 after a pair of home wins at Wade Stadium against the Northland LumberJacks. More importantly, however, the Saints were crowned the 2017 UMAC regular season champions for the 21st consecutive year. The games were the last two regular season home games for CSS, who made quick work by defeating the Jacks 12-2 in game one and 13-3 in game two.

Jack Paulson reached base five times, stole three bases and scored twice as UW-Oshkosh defeated Edgewood, 6-1 at Tiedemann Field. UW-Oshkosh held leads of 5-0 after three innings and 6-0 entering the sixth frame. Edgewood outhit the Titans, 8-7, but six Eagles pitchers combined to issue 10 walks.
Three straight scoring hits in its final at-bat helped Manchester keep pace for the top spot on the 2017 HCAC standings, winning 8-6 over Anderson. The offense had many heroes during a brisk early May evening. Freshman designated hitter Joe Gallatin turned in a three-for-five day at the dish, extending his hit streak to 12 straight games. Senior first baseman Tailur Szarenski; junior Eric Knepper and sophomore catcher Matt Pritz all wound up with two safeties apiece, as Pritz added two big RBI to his resume to lead the Spartans.
It took all of 11 innings, but Ripon defeated Marian by a score of 5-4. Ripon finished with seven hits, led by David La Tour's 2-for-5 performance, which included a pair of RBI. Ryan Maier (3-0) earned the win, pitching four scoreless innings of relief, while allowing just two hits and striking out three.
Andrew Fabry gave Albion six solid innings of relief and shortstop Joe Turnbull slugged two more doubles as Albion rallied for a 9-8 victory over Trine University in the first game of a MIAA doubleheader at Champions Stadium at Frank Joranko Field. Chase Hall reached base four times with two hits and two walks as Hall led Trine to a 4-1 win and a split on the day.
Benedictine swept visiting Rockford to secure a slot in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament. Benedictine logged double-digit hits in each contest and did not trail during either affair. Benedictine won game one 12-2 and the nightcap 6-0.
Wittenberg won their third game out of their last four against the Quakers of Wilmington. The Tigers disposed of the Quakers 9-2 on the road, as Brad Malott paced the Tigers with three hits in the game, and Brandon Beegle logged 6.2 innings on the bump for his first win of the season. The Tigers improve to 13-23 overall in 2017, with the NCAC Crossover series awaits the Tigers, as the red and white make the trip to Hiram this weekend.
