The Penn State Abington Athletic Department is pleased to announce that Josh Copskey has been named the head coach for the baseball program.
 
Copskey enters his first season as the helm for the Nittany Lions following one of the most prolific coaches in Penn State Abington history in Joe Pavlow.
 
"I am tremendously excited for this opportunity to lead the Penn State University-Abington baseball program in the coming years. I am looking to grow and strengthen the program, take the team to new heights and make the University and entire Nittany Lion community proud. I fully understand the responsibility that has been given to me and I will promise to uphold the Penn State University-Abington values and mission statement to the best of my ability. The amount of support and level of commitment that I have received from Deb and her staff continues to show me that Penn State Abington baseball has a bright future ahead. I look forward to hitting the ground running with my new team."
 
Copskey comes from regional baseball powerhouse Rutgers-Camden and played a vital role in the revival of the program. In his four years assisting the program, Copskey helped transform Rutgers-Camden into contenders. His leadership helped the program to a 30-13-1 record in 2014, culminating to its first New Jersey Athletic Conference regular season championship and NCAA Division III Baseball Championship tournament.  The Scarlet Raptors defended their NJAC regular season title the following season in 2015.
 
Before his time with Rutgers Camden, Copskey worked with the Brooklawn American Legion for seven seasons as an assistant baseball coach.  Over that time he helped Brooklawn to the World Series five times with Championship wins in 2013 and 2014.
 
He started all four years at Siena College, with 54 collegiate appearances, making 35 starts, and pitching 226 innings. He tied for the team lead with five victories and led the club with 70.1 innings as a freshman and compiled a 1.91 ERA as a senior. He graduated from Siena in 2004 with a degree in Marketing Management.
 
Copskey graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School, in 2000 where he helped the Rams to a pair of Parochial A state championships in 1999 and 2000. The 2000 team also earned the national high school championship in polls by USA Today, Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball.
