Anderson needed two wins on Friday and got both, escaping elimination twice. They will need three more wins to knock off Franklin, who earned a spot in the HCAC title game with a 13-9 win over Rose-Hulman. Chuck Kidd's seventh-inning single scored Nick Butcher with the winning run in a 5-4 win over Bluffton. In their game with Manchester, Grant Thompson singled home pinch runner Berrnie Day for a 6-5 win over the Spartans.
No. 16 La Roche is heading to the AMCC championship game for the seventh consecutive year. The Redhawks hung on to beat Pitt-Greensburg 6-3 and advance in the winner's bracket final. La Roche will play tomorrow for their fifth straight AMCC Championship and their sixth in the past seven years. Earlier it was Penn State Behrend who staved off elimination. Ian Taylor led the Lions to a 9-4 win over Penn State Altoona as the Lions leadoff hitter went 4-for-5 with three RBIs to advance in the elimination bracket. After Pitt-Greensburg dropped the opening game of the day to La Roche to fall into the losers bracket, they bounced back to defeat Penn State Behrend, 15-11 to stay alive and advance to the AMCC Championship game.
Salisbury defeated Penn State-Harrisburg at Sea Gull Baseball Stadium in game one of the Capital Athletic Conference championship series, 14-0. The Lions (31-13), like many other teams this season, could not solve starting pitcher Connor Reeves, who went on to allow only four hits and strike out a season-high 13 batters in a complete game shutout to earn his record-setting 13th victory of the season. With the win, Reeves now holds sole possession of the record for most wins in a single season in both Salisbury and CAC history. The win also helps him maintain the lead across all of Division III in that category.

The fourth-seeded RIT (20-16-1) scored six times in the top of the first inning en route to an 11-4 win over No. 3 seed Vassar (18-19) in game three of the 2018 Liberty League Tournament at Towers Field on the campus of Rochester. Vassar is eliminated from the double-elimination tournament. A 3-1 win by Union in the winners bracket final, put RIT in a game with Rochester in a rematch from yesterday. The result was the same with Rochester moving on with a 8-4 win.
Wabash scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back, earning a berth in Saturday's championship round of the 2018 NCAC Tournament after a 7-3 victory over second-ranked Wooster Friday afternoon in Chillicothe, Ohio. The Little Giants (27-15) extend their record of wins in a season after eclipsing the previous mark of 25 set in 1997 and matched in 1998. Wabash won its 26th game of the year Thursday night with a 4-2 victory over Denison in the opening round of the tournament. Wabash will meet Wooster in the title game with the Scots needing two wins and the Little Giants a single victory on the day.
Baldwin Wallace put themselves in position to win the OAC title and playoff berth with a 22-8 win over Otterbein. The Yellow Jackets have now scored 41 run in their two games in the OAC tournament. Marietta's bid for the 2018 OAC crown came to end as the Pioneers lost to Otterbein, 5-3, in an elimination game. Marietta avoided elimination in an earlier losers bracket game with a 2-0 win over Ohio Northern (27-15 overall). The Pioneers are 27-16 overall and are now waiting to see if they receive an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. The tournament field will be announced late Sunday night or early Monday morning.
One of the most entertaining, tightly contested and dramatic games of the season ended with Max Steinhorn's RBI single delivering a 3-2 victory for Amherst over Bates in 12 innings on day one of the 2018 NESCAC tournament. In a game that saw superb outings from both starting pitchers, Bates took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 12th inning, only to have Amherst surge back with an unbelievable series of events to win the game at Dibennedeto Stadium. Amherst plays Tufts, a 16-3 winner over Welesyan, on Saturday.
On the second day of the 2018 CCIW Tournament, the North Park Vikings took on third-seeded Augustana and second-seeded Carthage. The Vikings took both games to send Augustana and then Carthage home. North Park won 4-2, going wire to wire with Augustana and won 8-3 in comeback fashion over Carthage. They will need to win twice on Saturday over North Central for the tournament title. North Central defeated Carthage 15-4 to advance to the title game.
Gwynedd Mercy advanced to the championship series of the 2018 CSAC Tournament with their 2-1 win over Neumann in an elimination game. The Griffins will face Keystone Saturday at Owl's Field in West Lawn needing two wins to dethrone the Giants as defending champs. Earlier on Friday, Gwynedd Mercy fell in the winner's bracket to Keystone, 17-7, to slide into an elimination game against the Knights. Neumann was able to knock off Cabrini to set up another elimination game against Gwynedd. In the final game of the day, the Griffins broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh getting a run on a suicide squeeze for the eventual go-ahead run. Josh Lopez made to third on a single from Dave Tatoian with one out. Sachel Sciarretta stepped to the plate a put down a bunt which he beat for an infield single but more importantly scored Lopez for a 2-1 lead.
Scranton scored five times in the top of the ninth and got a complete game victory from senior lefty Brian Markowski on the mound to defeat Eizabethtown, 9-4, in game two of the Landmark Conference Championship at Volpe Field. The third-seeded Royals (21-19) advance to face Catholic in game four on Saturday. The winner advances to Sunday's championship while the loser will play an elimination game immediately after game four is completed. Catholic, the top seed, edged fourth-seeded Moravian, 5-4, in Friday's first game.
Webster continued its strong play here Friday in the SLIAC tournament as the seventh-ranked Gorloks scored 16 runs en route to posting a 16-10 victory over No. 2 seed Spalding in a winners bracket game at Robert E. Smith Field. With the victory, Webster, who is seeking its league-best ninth SLIAC Tournament title, advances to Saturday's championship game at 5 p.m. By virture of being the only undefeated team in the double-elimination event, Webster would need to lose twice on Saturday to not take home the championship trophy for the first time since 2014. Webster will play Green ville in the final after the Panthers eliminated Westminster (Mo.), 18-9, and Spalding, 4-0.

Second-seeded Thomas More defeated fourth-seeded Saint Vincent, 11-1, in the winner's bracket final game of the PAC championship tournament at Ross Memorial Park in Washington, Pennsylvania. With the win, the Saints improve to 23-17 and advance to the championship game of the PAC Championship Tournament's championship game tomorrow. With the loss, the Bearcats will get a rematch with No. 1 seed Washington & Jefferson. W&J was a 8-1 winner over Thiel.
Dubuque upended the Wartburg College Knights, 3-2, to advance to the Iowa Conference Tournament Championship game for the first time in program history. Nathan Schneiderman came in for the eighth inning for a chance at a two inning save. Schneiderman struck out the first two batters but a walk and back to back errors by the Spartans loaded the bases. He then went 1-2-3 in the eighth inning to send the Spartans into the championship game. Buena Vista and Luther saw ther seasons end. Coe and Wartburg meet early Saturday to see who will join Dubuque in the championship game.
Senior Joseph Tuzzolo went 2 for 3 with two runs and one RBI as top-seeded Randolph-Macon dropped a 9-7 decision to fourth-seeded Shenandoah Friday afternoon at City Stadium to kick off Round 2 of the ODAC Tournament. The Yellow Jackets (31-6-1) will play the loser of the game between No. 2 Virginia Wesleyan and No. 3 Roanoke on Saturday. The Hornets (32-10) will play the winner at 7 p.m.
It was a day of high-hitting games and lead changes that in the end both No. 1 seeds of the Midwest Conference Baseball Championship survived. Host Monmouth (Ill.) went 2-0 to secure a spot in tomorrow's title game. The regular season South Division Champion worked its way out of a one-run deficit against Lawrence in the opening round to win by what would end up being the largest margin of victory on the day. The Fighting Scots scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the 8-3 win and advance to Game 3. On the other side of the bracket, North Division Champion Green Knights came back one run at a time for eight total in the bottom of the ninth for a 12-11 win over Grinnell.In the elimination game between Grinnell and Lawrence, it was another hitting derby as the teams combined for 31 hits resulting in 23 runs. The Pioneers ulimately ended up winning, 12-11, and eliminating Lawrence from the tournament. Grinnell and St. Norbert will rematch tomorrow morning after the Green Knights fell to Monmouth in Game 3, 5-4. The winner of the game advances to the title game against the host Fighting Scots, while the loser goes home.
For the first time in program history, No. 5 UMass Boston will be playing in back-to-back Little East Conference tournament championship games, after pulling away for a 7-1 win over second-seeded Eastern Connecticut State. After winners bracket was settled with the Beacons headed to the title game, the elimination games were started to find their opponent. UMass Dartmouth ended Rhode Island's season with a 6-4 win only to see Eastern Connecticut State do the same to the Corsairs by a 7-4 score and earn a rematch with the Beacons.
On Friday in the MIAC it was just as expected, the top seeds won setting up a St. John's (Minn.) versus Bethel in the winnrs bracket final. St. John's defeated Gustavus Adolphus 6-2 and bethel took care of St. Thomas 5-4. The Johnnies won wire-to-wire while Bethel needed a bases-loaded walk in the tenth frame to down the Tommies.
Ithaca posted a resilient effort in the Empire 8 Conference semifinals at Dobbelaar Field in Hoboken, N.J. and came away with an 8-7 walk-off win over top-seeded Stevens. Ithaca will face the St. John Fisher, a 20-9 winner over Stevens, for the Empire 8's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. The Bombers, who are now 27-14 on the season, will need to win just one game tomorrow, while Fisher needs to win twice. Senior Domenic Boresta delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth inning with a two-out bases loaded single to the right-centerfield gap to drive home junior Sam Little, who led off with a base hit.
St. Scholastica scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to break a 2-2 tie to defeat Bethany Lutheran 4-2 on Friday at Wade Stadium in the second day of the UMAC tournament to earn a spot in Saturday's championship game. CSS will have a rematch with the Vikings in tomorrow's championship after Bethany defeated the University of Northwestern (Minn.) with a walk-off single.
