McSeffery is elevated to head coach for Warriors

CONWAY, Ark. - Sean McSheffery, a former coach in the San Diego Padres organization who has also served as an assistant baseball coach for the Warriors for the past two seasons, will enter his first season as the head baseball coach for the Hendrix Warriors.

"Having been in our department as the assistant coach for the last two years, Sean has impressed everyone he has interacted with on our campus and shown his unselfishness and team-first mentality in everything he has done," Director of Athletics Amy Weaver went on to say. "Coach McSheffery separated himself from the rest of the very impressive applicant pool by his knowledge of the game, experience at several different levels, as well as his energy and passion for recruiting and we are excited to have him leading our Baseball program."

Following just his first season at Hendrix, Coach McSheffery coached three All-Region picks and five All-Southern Athletic Association selections. In his two seasons combined working with the Warriors, Coach McSheffery served as the hitting coach, pitching coach, and recruiting coordinator. During the games, he acted as the 3rd base coach.

Before his time at Hendrix College, Coach McSheffery was an assistant coach at Florida International University in Miami Florida from Sept. 2014 - Aug. 2016. In his tenure there, Coach McSheffery served as the assistant hitting coach, infield coach, and camp coordinator. Coach McSheffery acted as the 1st base coach and coached under former LSU, Miami, and Arizona State assistant coach Turtle Thomas.

Prior to his arrival at FIU, Coach McSheffery worked within the San Diego Padres organization. Coach McSheffery main responsibilities for the Eugene Emeralds (the short season single A team of the Padres) and the Tucson Padres (the AAA affiliate of the San Diego Padres) included the day-to-day operations, managing scouting reports, working with infielders, hitters, and baserunners.

In his time as a recruiter and coach, Coach McSheffery has coached 20 players who went on to get drafted professionally. Among those 20 include Nate Pearson (Toronto Blue Jay's first round selection in 2017) and Edwin Rios (Los Angeles Dodgers' fifth round selection in 2015; Minor League Player of the Year in 2016).

Coach McSheffery served as an assistant coach for Phoenix College in 2012 and was a volunteer assistant for his alma mater (University of Dallas) in 2011.

He graduated from the University of Dallas in 2010 with a degree in Business Leadership. Coach McSheffery was the Crusaders' team MVP and captain as a senior. He hit .320 during his tenure with a .970 fielding percentage. Coach McSheffery also went on to play for Phoenix College, where he received his associate's degree in Business.
