Ft. Myers, Fla. (Mar. 3, 2020) - Senior Michael Simmerman threw the fourth no-hitter in team history and head coach Yogi Lutz earned his 900th career victory in a doubleheader sweep of Finlandia University on Tuesday at The Player Development Complex.

The Golden Wolves won the opener 16-4 behind Gavin Blankenbiller and Billy Geiger to make Lutz the fifth active Division III coach to surpass 900 career wins. They took game two 25-0 behind Simmerman's 10-strikeout, no-hitter--the fourth in Alvernia history and the first since Chuck Nicholas shut down Wilkes University in the opening round of the 2009 MAC Freedom Championships at Bear Stadium.

Alvernia jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of game one, but Finlandia tied it with two in the third. Alvernia answered with four runs in the bottom of the third and five more in the bottom of the fourth for a commanding 11-3 lead.
