ANAHEIM, Calif. – Joseph Odom made his MLB debut Tuesday July 28th.

Odom, an All-American catcher during his days at Huntingdon College, was activated from the Seattle Mariners' three-man taxi squad and added to the starting lineup on Tuesday afternoon.

Odom's start came just five days after being added to the Mariners' 60-man player pool and the team's three-man taxi squad on Thursday.

"It all happened pretty quick," Odom told MLB.com's Greg Johns Tuesday night. "But that's kind of the name of the game. I was super excited, and it was good to do it with a guy like Sheff (Tuesday starter Justus Sheffield), who I'm familiar with."

Odom was 0-for-2 with a walk in Tuesday's 10-2 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. The 28-year-old Odom, who according to multiple sites that cover the Mariners, has been considered one of the top defensive catchers in the minor leagues.

Odom appeared in 98 minor league games last season, between Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Tacoma, and was selected to the Double-A All-Star Game.

Drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 2013, Odom joined the Mariners' organization through the Rule 5 Draft in Dec. 2017.
