The Cavs scored a run in six of their eight frames, including a five run inning in the bottom of the eighth to bust the game open. Senior Steven Priest powered the offensive outburst as the veteran finished the day 3-6 with a double, two home runs and a career high six RBIs. Fellow senior Mack McKisson added four RBIs on a pair of hits, while sophomore Christian Strickland added his fourth long ball of the season and three RBIs. Northwestern (Minn.) (10-7) swept Martin Luther (0-2) on Thursday evening. The Eagles won game one 10-0 and game two 19-0. Northwestern was clicking on all cylinders for the doubleheader. It all started with the pitching as Sam Ludzack (3-0) got the start in game one. The junior threw five dominant innings while striking out ten and only surrendering one hit, a double in the second. Noah Franzen (1-0), a junior who has battled injuries the past couple of years, got the start in game two. It was Franzen's first appearance on a varsity collegiate mound, and he did not disappoint. He matched Ludzack's performance in game one as he threw five innings and struck out seven. His fastball and curveball kept Martin Luther hitless until two outs in the fourth. After Franzen's five dominant innings, Wakabayashi got the sixth and struck out one, and Bennett Thurow pitched a 1-2-3 seventh.

It was a breezy day in the nation's capital, but it was of little concern to Marymount University, as the Saints earned their fourth consecutive victory with a 9-3 triumph over Gwynedd Mercy University. With the win, MU (5-2) improved their conference record to a spotless 4-0. The loss sent the Griffins record to 0-4 and 0-1 in Atlantic East Conference play. Marymount's bats made the difference once again, as the Saints used six hits to manufacture their runs. GMU mustered four hits against Marymount's arms, but the Saints pitchers kept the Griffins at bay. Ryan Bergenhagen toed the rubber for MU and did not disappoint. The senior tossed five innings and struck out a pair while allowing just four hits and three runs to earn his third win. Clint Wheeler put the game to bed in the ninth inning, as the junior struck out all three of the Griffins' batters to seal the victory.

It took nearly five hours, but McMurry secured a series-opening win against Howard Payne with a rare walk-off hit-by-pitch at Walt Driggers Field late Thursday night. Tied 7-7 after nine innings, a regular finish became all but an April Fools' joke. McMurry's senior closer Sam Hillyer and Howard Payne's Xavier Haines were locked into an extra inning pitcher's duel, keeping the game scoreless into the 14th inning. Freshman Dylan Schafer took over in the 14th and dealt two scoreless frames, allowing the War Hawks to have their chance to walk it off. With a new pitcher entering for Haines after 6.2 scoreless innings, McMurry started a rally with a Mike Gonzales single. A hit batter and an intentional walk to Hillyer loaded the bases with one out, bringing up Christian Oliver. Oliver took a pitch to the hip and flipped his bat toward the home dugout in celebration as McMurry accomplished the walk-off hit-by-pitch – scoring Mike Gonzales. Junior Nick Hamel tied both a school and American Southwest Conference record with eight at-bats. HPU's Nolyn Box also tied the ASC record. As a team, McMurry fell one at-bat short of a single-game school record with 58 – with the record coming in last year's 16-inning showdown against St. Thomas (TX). Both teams stranded a combined 38 runners – 20 for HPU and 18 for McMurry.

He faced the minimum in the fifth and sixth innings. Kuster tossed a complete game to move his recorded to 5-0. He fanned five and issued only one walk.
