YORK, Pa. (Baseball) –
The top-seeded York Spartans swept second-seeded Lebanon Valley on Saturday in the MAC Commonwealth Championship Series to claim their first MAC Commonwealth title. York senior Conor Miller was named the MAC Commonwealth Championship Most Valuable Player (MVP.)

York defeated Lebanon Valley 7-3 in game one and 5-4 in game two to claim the 2021 conference title.

Miller pitched 3.1 innings of work on Saturday and earned a save in game one and the win in game two to secure the Spartans first conference title in their new conference.

Lebanon Valley started the day off well with three runs on three hits in the top of the first inning of game one.

York cut the deficit to 3-2 after scoring a run in the second and third innings.

In the sixth inning, MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year Jack Barry hit his second home run of the game, this time a two-run shot over the left field fence to give the Spartans a 4-3 lead.

York pulled away with three-runs on four hits in the bottom of the eighth inning of game one.

The Spartans had a better offensive start in game two, scoring one run in the second and three runs in the third for a 4-0 lead.

But Lebanon Valley fought back.

The Dutchmen scored a run in the fourth and seventh inning to cut the deficit to 4-3.

In the top of the eighth inning, Bryan Towers doubled down the rightfield line with two outs to drive home two runs and tie the game. It looked to be a routine groundball to first base until the ball took a crazy bounce up over the infielder.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, York took advantage of two Lebanon Valley errors to score a run to regain the lead, 5-4.

Miller, who had entered in the eighth inning for one out, retired the side in order to secure the game and title.
