Rosemont, PA- In an effort to meet the current interests of our student population, Rosemont announced in 2020 that Men's Baseball will be added for the 2021-22 academic year.

"These sports will be terrific additions to the athletic department at Rosemont. Both sports will enable us to provide additional competition opportunities for our current and future students" said Joe Pavlow, director of athletics at Rosemont College, upon making the announcement.

"In addition to recruiting coaching staff, we are actively working to find off campus facilities that will enable our teams to prepare and compete in the CSAC and the Mid-Atlantic Region, as we do not have a baseball field or track on campus. We expect these teams to hit the ground running next year and to successfully perform in the classroom and on the field", said Pavlow.

Ross Trachtenberg joins the Rosemont College athletics staff as the head baseball coach

"We are extremely excited to have Ross lead our baseball program. His diverse experience on the baseball diamond, as a recruiter, and as an educator in higher education was something that we highly valued during our search. When building a new program, instilling the right culture is critical, and Ross has great experience with this. Being a part of a program with a national championship pedigree at West Chester is something that will help Ross build the foundation of our program here at Rosemont, said athletic director, Joe Pavlow.

The first season of Rosemont baseball will begin in the spring of 2022.

"Rosemont Baseball presents a unique opportunity to ball players looking to be an immediate and integral member of a college baseball team. Rosemont College is designed to give each student individual attention and support to be successful.  My goal in building a baseball program is to mirror that philosophy.I could not be more excited and optimistic about the future of Rosemont College Baseball," said Trachtenberg.

Trachtenberg arrives at Rosement College after four seasons at West Chester University as an assistant coach. He works primarily with the hitters and catchers and will coach third base during games.

In his time at West Chester, he helped the team win a PSAC Championship, NCAA Atlantic Regional title and a national championship.

Trachtenberg returned to the Philadelphia area after spending one season with Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Baseball in Claremont, Calif. As the team's lead assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, Trachtenberg helped guide the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens to a 28-win season and a berth in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoffs.

Prior to his season in Southern California, Trachtenberg was on the coaching staff at Neumann University in Aston, Pa., serving as the program's recruiting coordinator and head junior varsity coach from August 2013 through December 2014. Before coaching collegiately, Trachtenberg was the head varsity coach at Friends' Central School in Wynnewood, Pa., for 10 seasons. Additionally, from 2009 through 2013, Trachtenberg was on the staff of the Geneva Red Wings, which is a summer collegiate team in the New York Collegiate Baseball League. He served as the head coach for the 2011, 2012 and 2013 seasons. A total of 12 of his former Red Wing players were draft selections or free agent signees by Major League Baseball franchises. Finally, Trachtenberg has been an associate scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates since 2011. He helps to identify and evaluate the top high school and college players in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Trachtenberg received his undergraduate degree from Lehigh University in 2002 and his Master of Science in Sport Management degree from Drexel University in 2015.

"I would like to thank athletic director Joe Pavlow for this opportunity. I am extremely grateful for the trust he has in me to build the Rosemont Baseball Program. My wife Lori and parents have been incredibly supportive of me throughout my career as a coach. They make it possible for me to do what I love. I want to thank them as well," said Trachtenberg.

Trachtenberg lives in King of Prussia, Pa., with his wife, Lori, and their daughter, Claire, and son, Casey.
